Over the past year I’ve massively cut down on processed food & also do intermittent fasting. Nearly a stone lighter which means I’m no longer overweight. Rarely get overly hungry & if I do I drink water 1st. I love chocolate but rarely now buy milk chocolate because I overindulge! But always have a couple of pieces of 85% dark chocolate daily. Took a little while to adapt to the taste but now I find even 70% is too sweet! I’m 60+ so even us oldies can change. I’m certainly no cook but like you said Glynis, anyone can do a bit of fish in the oven, or microwave for speed & I’m proud to say I’ve never had a Macdonalds, Burger King or KFC etc in my life. I did used to have fish and chips once a week, which just became a habit really but now it’s a very rare treat. I agree that it’s so easy to just order “food” & get it delivered to your door these days but gladly I’ve never been tempted! I must sound very boring but hopefully my body is thanking me!!!
You body is definitely thanking you. This sounds similar to how I eat. Occasional treats and indulgences are absolutely fine when your diet is mostly very healthful. And a little bit of dark chocolate is a great way to satisfy a little craving. I always eat it or anything sweet AFTER a meal. This way it will reduce any blood glucose spikes.
Dark chocolate is great. It is so rich that I don't really want to overindulge in it. You can dip the pieces in peanut butter also and it's pretty good.
LOL when she started talking about the doctor recommending smoking. I've heard the radio ads, seen the magazine ads but still find that so hard to wrap my head around.
Also want to say that in my experience he's right about the palate changing. If I drink soda and eat candy it's all downhill from there, want it all the time. After a while of not having it though... it's just too sweet, you don't really want it anymore.
Sugar has always been my downfall. When I was a teenager, I used to add four sugars to my cups of tea. I don't know if anyone on here remembers the small tins of Nestles cream you could buy, well, i used to buy them and add a few spoonfuls of sugar and guzzle them. Strange thing is, I was always complimented on having a lovely complexion, never had any spots at all and never had issues with my weight either.
I adore that laughter ! I'm so happy that I found so many videos of You Assem ! I understand why tha lady has to stay so close to you : because the angle of the camera ! I'd like to be in her place for some time -all my life I'd prefer ! 😅😍🤗😘😘😘
Chocolate ! Don't mention it ! I can resist buying it ( once a year !) , but if I get a present from somewhere I know the "movie" : 2or 3 hours I study the enemy , I postpone the pleasure for some hours still if I have some work to do , but in the end I attack the enemy and finish it off in 5 minutes ! 🤪😄😋

If nature hasn't made it, I will not have it.

Good for you, Glynis. Good topic, and guest. God! I recall mum's - back in the day, dipping the baby's dummy into the sugar bowl to pacify the baby!!
The good old days ha ha.
