I’m not a gardener at all but I love watching garden answer :). I’m a total indoor house plant person so when Laura talks about house plants it makes me just that much more happy 😊. Plus Benjamin and russel are an added bonus when they make appearances they are too cute

Today's my birthday, I'm away from my grandchildren and I am missing them terribly. Decided I would watch GA, have a cup of coffee with Laura and spruce my mood. Well, wouldn't you know today's video had sweet little Benjamin in it and I'm telling you I literally “laughed out loud!!” When Laura asked how he would keep her from stepping on the sweet potatoes and he threw his arms open and said, “like this,” as to block her path and then said, “stop, stop, stop!” I couldn't help myself! It was the cutest most perfect little boy moment ever! Made my morning and gentled my sadness a bit. Thank you Benjamin for brightening this grandma's birthday. Good morning! It’s always nice to get an area, no matter how small, buttoned up. I love the sun porch. I’m retired so I’d be out there every morning with my coffee. And the view of the brick walkway with the pumpkins, oh my! Can’t wait to see Christmas decorations (but not rushing it).
The chaise lounge can be pushed to the wall and used as a comfy seating bench. Place pillows to the back on the lounge to make it a pretty supportive mini sofa. Voila! The wonky lamp needs new hardware/ maybe a new shade. Also, if you place the chaise lounge against the far window wall (if it fits or center it on another wall) then arrange the green metal chairs on either side, it will make a good conversational area. Then arrange the plants. Place the round table in front of the lounge for drinks/snack books, etc. One more suggestion: that pillar table is beautiful and could be place on the far window wall, while the lounge is against the house window wall. Seeing the pillar table on the far wall will be an exceptional picturesque place for the plants to adorn it. More voila!!
My husband having been in construction for 59 years, one of the first things they learn is NEVER leave a potential hazard uncovered, especially here with children so near. It was always covered with at least plywood
Laura your energy, knowledge, and mindfulness of gardening is a true gift. You and Aaron are owning IT! I love what you guys are doing. So many projects with great information. I garden in the Mississippi Delta, as different as our zones are, it amazes me how I can still learn. We have high humidity and basically 2 seasons, summer and winter.

When you say “ ...once a week watering schedule...” is that 1) put in the sink and water until it is draining out the bottom, or 2) add 1/2 cup water to top, or 3) add 1cup water to top. Inquiring minds want to know! 😊 Thank you for all of the wonderful knowledge and information you impart every day. I started watching you when COVID hit, and because of your enthusiasm and inspiration, I designed a small garden space around my patio, tackled growing seeds indoors with grow light and winter seed sowing. I love a to-do list and checking things off! I'd also love to have an area like that to pot up plants and start seeds. If I had that sun porch I'd have to find a way to spend more time there. Beautiful houseplant arrangements and it will look even more striking when the cypress return. I applaud the idea of different furniture. It's so nice to have a place to be that's "almost" outside in the early morning when it's too cold to actually be outside (unless you're working, but places for coffee are crucial!)
Your sun porch would be good for a little comfy framed swing of some sort. I know so many can be sort of tacky, but wouldn’t it be nice to cuddle your babes, looking at that scenery and sway too and fro? Sounds peaceful.
Benjamin's stories remind me of the stories my Sam would tell me when he was that age. He was also notorious for lining up anything and everything into neat rows. He's now nearing 20 because I blinked too long. My youngest was watching this with me saying, "Mom, you taught us how to plant just like how she's teaching Benjamin." You will be surprised at how much kids retain from the lessons we teach them.🥰😌🪴

I wish I had a plant/studio room! Right now I use my kitchen dining area as a planting area, craft area & of course an eating area! Oh - the area is also used as a coffee time place for my hard working farmers! Benjamin is so cute, treasure these moments!! Great watching you and Benjamin discuss the moving of the potatoes. Great parenting. Teaching children to analyze and decide why and why not to do something helps them in the future to make more important decisions. So much better parenting than " because I said so " It is quicker to say that but it is not a teaching or a learning experience for the child. Discussion is good not just an "I told you so" Discussion is so much harder parenting. I still noticed though that you had the last word and took control when it was time for him to make a decision. It shows you are willing to discuss with him why you are asking this of him., but ultimately you need him to do what you asked. Keep up the great work. Tab Kerwin

To the best of my knowledge the kumquat was mislabeled. The citrus you have is probably trifoliate orange Citrus trifoliata (commonly used as a rootstock) wich is hardy down to zone 6 so it may survive for you outside in protected location. I love your content it is very inspiring.

Hi Laura and all the Garden Answer family! Was looking at July 29, 2021 video and you mentioned a stray, possibly feral cat who your Russell/Cheddar don't welcome into their space. Recently there's a 6-toed white cat with the most brilliant blue eyes (female I think) who's been hanging around and my Nicholas (orange tabby) has been picking fights with her. I hope she finds a new home soon. If Nicholas had liked her I might have begun encouraging her to become an outdoor cat in my patio. All creatures great and small...Lord God loves them all!
Would you ever hang plants in the sun porch? I would think it would be hard to water them but between you & Aaron I bet you could figure out a seamless drip system that could lay in the molding...
Laura, I really admire how you nurture Benjamin's interests (helping him find the right sized pots for "his" flowers) and lead his thought process (with the sweet potatoes) to help him understand why you needed them moved to the bags. That will help him immensely as he grows. Great parenting!
As your kids get older, don't forget that magical moment when you persuaded Benjamin to do what needed to be done with just a normal conversation. Leave yourself a post-a-note in your makeup drawer for 10 years from now! The view from your front porch is so perfect now, just beautiful with that gigantic front lawn ending with, what will be, some wonderful decorative plants. It's done! OR is it - lol? If it had to be done, it is perfect.

I love a to-do list and checking things off! I'd also love to have an area like that to pot up plants and start seeds. If I had that sun porch I'd have to find a way to spend more time there. Benjamin is precious! I am so glad you take the time to help him and teach him correct ways of doing things. I'm always impressed with your patience. He's a little sponge and obviously wants to learn. Keep it up!
Beautiful houseplant arrangements and it will look even more striking when the cypress return. I applaud the idea of different furniture. It's so nice to have a place to be that's "almost" outside in the early morning when it's too cold to actually be outside (unless you're working, but places for coffee are crucial!)
Your sun porch would be good for a little comfy framed swing of some sort. I know so many can be sort of tacky, but wouldn’t it be nice to cuddle your babes, looking at that scenery and sway too and fro? Sounds peaceful.
Benjamin's stories remind me of the stories my Sam would tell me when he was that age. He was also notorious for lining up anything and everything into neat rows. He's now nearing 20 because I blinked too long. My youngest was watching this with me saying, "Mom, you taught us how to plant just like how she's teaching Benjamin." You will be surprised at how much kids retain from the lessons we teach them.🥰😌🪴

I wish I had a plant/studio room! Right now I use my kitchen dining area as a planting area, craft area & of course an eating area! Oh - the area is also used as a coffee time place for my hard working farmers! Benjamin is so cute, treasure these moments!! It is good to pot up fresh houseplants to enjoy over the cold weather months! What a scene changer for the sun porch with the South Garden view!! 😃🍂🍁🪴🌿🌞

Great watching you and Benjamin discuss the moving of the potatoes. Great parenting. Teaching children to analyze and decide why and why not to do something helps them in the future to make more important decisions. So much better parenting than " because I said so " It is quicker to say that but it is not a teaching or a learning experience for the child. Discussion is good not just an "I told you so" Discussion is so much harder parenting. I still noticed though that you had the last word and took control when it was time for him to make a decision. It shows you are willing to discuss with him why you are asking this of him., but ultimately you need him to do what you asked. Keep up the great work. Tab Kerwin

To the best of my knowledge the kumquat was mislabeled. The citrus you have is probably trifoliate orange Citrus trifoliata (commonly used as a rootstock) wich is hardy down to zone 6 so it may survive for you outside in protected location. I love your content it is very inspiring.

Hi Laura and all the Garden Answer family! Was looking at July 29, 2021 video and you mentioned a stray, possibly feral cat who your Russell/Cheddar don't welcome into their space. Recently there's a 6-toed white cat with the most brilliant blue eyes (female I think) who's been hanging around and my Nicholas (orange tabby) has been picking fights with her. I hope she finds a new home soon. If Nicholas had liked her I might have begun encouraging her to become an outdoor cat in my patio. All creatures great and small...Lord God loves them all!
Would you ever hang plants in the sun porch? I would think it would be hard to water them but between you & Aaron I bet you could figure out a seamless drip system that could lay in the molding...
Laura, I really admire how you nurture Benjamin's interests (helping him find the right sized pots for "his" flowers) and lead his thought process (with the sweet potatoes) to help him understand why you needed them moved to the bags. That will help him immensely as he grows. Great parenting!
As your kids get older, don't forget that magical moment when you persuaded Benjamin to do what needed to be done with just a normal conversation. Leave yourself a post-a-note in your makeup drawer for 10 years from now! The view from your front porch is so perfect now, just beautiful with that gigantic front lawn ending with, what will be, some wonderful decorative plants. It's done! OR is it - lol? If it had to be done, it is perfect.
