Just got my first bass about a week ago and signed up for lessons online. Decided I wanted to learn some songs at the same time to help me along. Found your channel. Amazing quality and so easy to understand. Saw your last upload was 2 years ago. Please come back!
Only tip to give is to just force yourself to practice with it. I actually played bass for years without using a pick. It wasn't til maybe 6 months ago that I started trying to balance it out between the two styles rather than just focusing 90% on one. I'm still more precise playing with my fingers, but the tone and the speed when using a pick are a plus, too. Force yourself to use a pick on a song that you're very familiar with. One that you know well on bass. And it'll come to you eventually.
Its the different fret numbers of the string. 0 meaning open string, 1 meaning first fret and so on. All he is doing in when he plays the 7th fret on the A string is playing an octave of the low E string for some excitement. Great cover, great song.
Out of 60 some odd bass videos I have on here, I play with a pick on maybe 20. And I only use it when it's necessary to get the right tone or if the original bassist is known for using a pick. And even then I don't necessarily limit myself to using a pick.
Different players have different styles or different tones they want to get. Just because someone does slap bass, or plays with a pick, doesn't mean they are wrong. I personally use a pick or my fingers. It depends on the song.
very good advice, though im doing it backwards, started with a pick because of the tone, and the stuff i play asks for it, now im starting to get my fingers working, though im the opposite, i prefer and am more efficient with a pick, just sounds so nice.
Thanks. I personally prefer Dunlop Tortex picks(.88's-Green). Occassionally I use Fender medium gauge celluloid picks. I frequently go back and forth between fingers & picks depending on the song.
Awsome dude, not the same as the tabs I got for this song but this version sounds alot better, only problem I have playing this is the changes with chorus
Dude, great channel. Do you always prefer to use a pick when you're playing? I do but a lot of people reckon it's better to use fingers but I am not convinced. You give using a pick justice! Great show!
Well, I can't quite manage to explain that in less than 500 characters, so I'll message you a link to a site that explains how to read bass tablature. =]
Great!!! Did you already do Gimme stitches? It's a great songs with super funny fills (that i never manage to get right) Would love to see it tabbed/played by you!
0 stands for open note. for example, you play open E. then when he puts 4 thats the frett that you play. sorry if that doesnt make sense its kinda hard to explain without showing.
I can't stand foo fighters, but my band wants to cover this song for 4th of July. Thanks for this video. Now I only have to put forth minimal effort to learn this.
I saw someone else play this without using the 4 on the a at all. Instead they just used open e then 2 a then open a then 2 a. I've tried them both. By the way, I love that you provide alternate tab for alternate approaches. That's been a great help. Thanks.
Not these exact tabs, no. But there are other versions written by other people that are similar to mine. Go to ultimate-guitar[dot]com and search "my hero bass" in the search bar. Click on My Hero ver 3 or ver 4.
This is awesome. Love that you put in the effort to include the tab. Much appreciated.

hallo,
will you play Because from novastar i don't now the tabs

Thank's Lot!
Any chance you could tab out The Foos "Best Of You"?
good drive
Sun Drop is life
Finally... Great ;)
Kan i print these tabs somewhere?
ahhh really dont want to have to cover this but thanks for the video
I'm sure he didn't do it for you personally
i didnt want to cover it with the band i was playing with, but I was thanking him regardless
Good cover, but the intro sounds better to me with a b thrown in for a walkup so
on E string: 0-0-0 whatever
On A string: 2-4-4-4 whatever.
Good idea. I'm going to try that.
sounds awesome sliding from the 2 to the 4 on the A string

Can you do by the way by the red hot chili peppers? it has an AMAZING bass line
¿Cuando toca el 0 por qué sube el dedo que va en el 4?

You guys need to do One by Metallica
I was wondering what Instrument requires the least skill for Foo Fighters
A steady bass line has nothing to do with a lack of skill simp.
@@Angel-fe5zm exactly. Yes this is a simple bass line but for beginners keeping rhythm isn't easy, bass is a rhythm instrument
@@mladyavery9138 thank you! People with no knowledge comment with ease on here.
I play the bass with a pick because i used to play guitar, but now i play both.
please do some from alice in chains , pearl jam, stone temple pilots, nomeanso
thanx much
I think I just figured out how to read tab I just watching this video.
dude this song sounds better with a pick since the bass is supposed to be more eminent rather than in the background in this song
Second. =D
Lol, camera is shaking due to mighty wall of bass sound :D
its a pretty ignorant thing to say that real bassists don't use picks. why limit yourself?
ther is none better than you.
Can you play with your fingers or will you always be a wanna be bass player?
First
And i wonder why not many people like to play bass (same damn easy riff over and over again)
He use a pick thats ilegal
