£16?! Flippin heck, they'd want to be good! Glad yours was decent. We went a few years back (price hasn't changed much), and I've never been so disappointed - as an Aussie, I was hanging out for proper fish and chips (crispy chips, battered by not oily fish), and well... I'm still waiting... Still gets me how small the 'chips' portions are here (UK), for the price charged. Wow.
Good one Mark, I moved to Lincoln and opened a dark kitchen I had installed in my garage, we talked on Discord 2 years ago, after I get my leg operated on (fell down the steps, waiting on NHS surgery) I be reopened and you can try my American BBQ or we also have an American breakfast menu too.
@@vanlifeeats I do my chips in beef fat and make southern fired turkey breast, not fish and chips but close. Fired chicken and turkey is so good fried in beef drippings
I think you need to make a disclaimer that the shop that you bought the ice cream was a totally different shop, with all the books, jars of preserves, fresh peppers and all laid out like a farm shop is a delicatessen. The table you sat at was also outside another completely different place. That was around the back at the Rick Stein cooking school. There is also a fishmongers there, also owned by Rick Stein. You basically had fish and chips whilst showing us a clip show of 4 Rick stein establishments. You would be good in advertising.
I think you were lucky to get good fish and chips, probably because they weren’t busy. I’ve eaten there a few times, first time many years ago, fabulous, gone downhill every year 🙁 . Can you actually taste the chips with all that vinegar 😂 . More food reviews please. 😊
I was order no 3 of the day. I have a feeling it will get busy and this will impact the quality I am sure. I am fussy with fish and chips as it's nearly always crappy. This was fantastic!
Ate there a few years ago. Really good from memory. Favourite chippy is a small place in Flamborough though. They use beef dripping as well. Another good one is in Ullapool. Superb location to sit outside and eat fish and chips. 👍
one of the only positive reviews ive seen for this place most people say the quality is poor and its a total rip off so i think you got lucky on the day you went
Best in the U.K. ,,,,, I simply can't help laughing about such ridiculous claims. The idiots that make these " best in the U.K. " simply forgot that Scotland, Wales and part of Ireland belong to the U.K. " The U.K.s best fish and chip shop " they were talking about Toff's in London ,, we had haddock and chips eighteen pounds fifty ,, ridiculous price for fish and chips. We also had fish and chips at the West End Cafe in Rothesay Isle of Bute ,, taste, portion size, service was miles ahead of Toff's and the price was seven pounds fifty ,,, Rick Stein's fish and chips in Padstow what ?? twenty quid for fish and chips ( mediocre at best ). Rick Stein's and Toff's best described as overrated and sure as hell overpriced ,,

It's only a couple of quid more than the fish and shitshow we get in Surrey so I didn't feel ripped off.

Sorry Sir, you have been scammed. This Rick Steins is a totally rip off station. Boring news now. You are just behind another 100 reviews.
Every other food channel has slated the place, overpriced and poor quality
