one of the most beautiful things Ive ever heard in my life. I moved to London for love and left when it fell apart... this song will always remind me of that.
So much love and yet this is rarely played on the radio in the Christmas run up. It should be! It's one of the greatest Christmas song. Gives me tingles.
Robert Elms, BBC Radio London, does play this regularly over winter. But never heard on any other shows. FYI, Robert Elms is worth listening to for his music knowledge. His Radio London show is on BBC Sounds App, ever Friday to Sunday from 10.00 am to 1.00 pm!
Im not one for Christmas songs, but this has got to be a classic up with the Pogues. Thank you Tom, you have come a long way since the day that I met you at the Fleece on the date that the Back Room was released. I have watched my baby band grow into adults and to think, you have a baby of your own xx
[Verse 1] God damn this snow Will I ever get where I wanna go? And so I skate across the Thames Hand in hand with all my friends [Verse 2] And all the things that we planned My son's eyes in the outline of his hand And even though I hate the cold A constant reminder that I'm gettin' old [Chorus 1] Another year draws to its close And tired London slows But when I dream tonight I'll dream of you And when the Thames froze [Verse 3] God damn this government Will they ever tell me where the money went? Protesters march out on the street As young men sleep amongst the feet [Chorus 1] Another year draws to its close And tired London slows But when I dream tonight I'll dream of you And when the Thames froze [Chorus 2] So tell everyone that there's hope in your heart Tell everyone or it'll tear you apart At the end of Christmas day When there's nothin' left to say The years go by so fast Let's hope the next beats the last [Chorus 2] So tell everyone that there's hope in your heart Tell everyone or it'll tear you apart The end of Christmas day When there's nothin' left to say The years go by so fast Let's hope the next beats the last [Chorus 2] And so tell everyone that there's hope in your heart Tell everyone or it'll tear you apart At the end of Christmas day When there's nothin' left to say The years go by so fast Let's hope the next beats the last
Every festive season it's the same: what Noddy Holder calls his pension plan delivers him yet more dividends, piped through shopping malls and tv adverts along with other opportunistic dross by Shakin' Stevens, Elton John and the rest, peddling songs that have nothing to do with Christmas apart from the word being levered into the lyrics of otherwise mediocre songs, and voila! - they have a Christmas hit. Meanwhile this work of utter perfection gets ignored, unknown to most people. I can't figure it out, but today in June of 2020 we are in this strange state of lockdown and I spontaneously sought out this song. For reasons I also can't explain, it is still intensely moving and entirely appropriate for the times we are in. That is quite an achievement, and one that the dross peddlers should reflect on the next time they count the takings from their mass-appealing seasonal rubbish.
this is not my style of music but i love this song i was looking on google for Muse support acts and borrows is in the amsterdam concert the support act
Just beautiful, however much our government screw' s us over, if we have our friends and family and a bit of love then life's still good , Happy Christmas
What a wonderful Christmas song! ❤ I swear Tom's voice is not from this world it reaches into the deepest hidden corners of your heart and soul 💕
Tom's voice always moves me to tears. He can reach your soul in a way I can't describe.

My favorite Christmas Song.
"Lets hope the next beats the last"
After 2020, I've never had greater hope in a song's hope.
Who’d have thought 2021 would be maybe even worse ? =\
Bugger

One of the best Christmas songs going!! A classic!!!! Beautiful am all for it
When I hear songs like this, they make me believe again, that we do have souls, which can be lit by the music like this...
This is music with a capital M. Best Christmas song ever written! This will be a classic for the next 100 years to come.
As Christmas songs go...this one was beautiful.
one of the most beautiful things Ive ever heard in my life. I moved to London for love and left when it fell apart... this song will always remind me of that.

3:02 is actually the best part! Love it! Its just beautiful to hear!
I love the intimate feel this setting brings - not quite as cosy as the amazing version on the Jame s Corden show, but a fuller sound.
The best Christmas Song Ever!!!

Beautiful. My favourite Xmas song - cheers Tom. Merry Christmas and here's to a great 2018
[Verse 1]
God damn this snow
Will I ever get where I wanna go?
And so I skate across the Thames
Hand in hand with all my friends
[Verse 2]
And all the things that we planned
My son's eyes in the outline of his hand
And even though I hate the cold
A constant reminder that I'm gettin' old
[Chorus 1]
Another year draws to its close
And tired London slows
But when I dream tonight
I'll dream of you
And when the Thames froze
[Verse 3]
God damn this government
Will they ever tell me where the money went?
Protesters march out on the street
As young men sleep amongst the feet
[Chorus 1]
Another year draws to its close
And tired London slows
But when I dream tonight
I'll dream of you
And when the Thames froze
[Chorus 2]
So tell everyone that there's hope in your heart
Tell everyone or it'll tear you apart
At the end of Christmas day
When there's nothin' left to say
The years go by so fast
Let's hope the next beats the last
[Chorus 2]
So tell everyone that there's hope in your heart
Tell everyone or it'll tear you apart
The end of Christmas day
When there's nothin' left to say
The years go by so fast
Let's hope the next beats the last
[Chorus 2]
And so tell everyone that there's hope in your heart
Tell everyone or it'll tear you apart
At the end of Christmas day
When there's nothin' left to say
The years go by so fast
Let's hope the next beats the last

Better than the original. Love it.
Vind persoonlijk dit beter dan de officiele clip met achtergrond koor, vind het koor niet echt leuk erdoorheen. wel geweldig nummer!
♥.

Just beautiful, however much our government screw' s us over, if we have our friends and family and a bit of love then life's still good , Happy Christmas
I always hated Christmas songs (apart from the Pogues and Kirsty), but this is magnificent. Why don't radio stations play it?
Because it criticises the establishment (government)
.............My sons eyes and the outline of his hands.
Ok, this beats Chris Rea for me!
Good fucking music.
intro sounds like 'lean on me'
Todd Pa That's what I heard.
I heard the same thing. But saying that, everything sounds like something else, it just depends on the amount of music you've listened to.
Twelve folks have a funny sense of what's not good...*genuinely puzzled*
needs a bit of jingle bells but otherwise quite excellent
Needs to be more well known but kind of happy it isn’t.
!
Should be a bigger song than it is
