I would rather meet Tom Olszta and Gary Carrington in person than many athletes who ride the benches making over 1 million dollars a year and complain they are in poverty!
In my opinion 2of the best bowlers on the planet, i had the pleasure of of bowling with tom in a pro-am tourney when i worked at leda lanes in Nashua, nh. Years ago , we smoked the whole competition thanks to tommy , 😂😂, met all the greats at the easter classic every year
I’ve just recently found out about these candlepin and duckpin bowling videos, I never played both these bowling variants (obviously because it isn’t played here in New York where I live) but maybe I will if I ever get a chance to take my family to New England one day.
An interesting fact: in Carrington's run that season he averaged a bit over 139 in six weeks. That was the all time record for an average in a single season on that show, which was on almost 38 years.
Tommy had been on Channel 5 only once in 2½ years to that point and that was the 1989 live show. He wasn't on at all in 1990 so he was making his first regular appearance since November 1988. That's a long stretch for him.
I have watched as many of these matches with Tom Olsta and in every single one he is always Tugging at his pants he just did a charity event going against his grandson that haven't watched yet I wonder if he still is tugging at his pants before throwing the ball.
Two titans of candlepin bowling. If you were ever to introduce someone to the pinnacle of the sport, this is it. That, and when Tommy skunked Craig Holbrook with a triple-strike in the tenth of the final string: th-cam.com/video/iQCQPhhfBus/w-d-xo.htmlsi=rJe4I5EB6dt7b825
Great match and one that never gets old!

Thanks for uploading this in the correct aspect ratio. Great match.
Love the particularly clear video!
This is great content. Oddly captivating. I wish this was the dominant form of bowling.
used to bowl back in the day. thanks for bringing this here.
Great match! I enjoy watching both of them!
Both bowlers made great shots in this match! Great look back at this match between two Hall of Famers!!!!
Carrington is actually not in the HOF yet.
@@kylebertulli4435He should be.

I wanted to open a candlepin alley in texas but the pinsetters are basically extinct.
I’m in Indiana…would love to try both as well!
18:43 that shot, is what every bowler dreams of- the sound of the shot, the clean cut shot, the crowd reaction, gives me goosebumps

That was the biggest comeback I ever saw in this sport to lose by 36 first game and still win.
128 average is slacking for Olszta lol.

Tom is a beast
Is it just me or does Olszta look like a Wahlberg a bit when he throws the ball?
I agree totally!

They must be awesome putters.
Gary could have 10marks in a row every frame in the first string was a spare lead
They look so smart until they talk.
