And in the end, the younger brother was still the strongest, the best, despite Kokushibo's best efforts (he even became a demon to surpass his brother's "dishonest talent"). And when Kokushibo saw in the reflection of someone else's sword that he himself did not want to become a monster (but a samurai, like younger brother), Kokushibo lost all desire to fight. He simply surrendered himself, allowing himself to be defeated.
