Firstly, when you choose branch just make sure that the branch has scope. Secondly, engineering is definitely not your cup of tea if you can't learn, unlearn and relearn. Technologies change much quickly so you should be open to learning. Thirdly, engineering is a four year degree so don't simply wait until fourth year for placement preparation. Learn in demand skills. Most of the people in engineering colleges are crazy about everything other than engineering so we can't blame the degree for that.

But one thing which I did when I was choosing between colleges and course was that I did a comparison between 1. job opportunities in public n private sector 2. Will this help me in a long run? In other words will this field remain relevant after few years? 3. Will this field work for me? Ex: Engineering is highly competitive, you must be open to learning because the technologies change much quickly. What you learn today might be completely irrelevant after 4 years u may have to learn new technologies again. Similarly some fields require extensive research. Look at all of these n choose the one that best suits you. All the best.
