    Smart thing with the windows ! a little tip on the magnets -> paint your screws and while the paint is wet you 'dryfit' it on the base and the paint puts 'stains' on your base where your magnets need to come ;-) love your paintjob ! keep up the great work !

    To make sure the screws line up with the magnets, you could drive them half way, then press the house into the foundation so that the screws punch little marks into the foam foundation.

    So
    When you make the main gables for the roof.
    Either draw them onto another foam board.
    Or make a template for that curve. And use it as a typical roof slope.
    For the roof portion.
    You can also try using a cardboard box. It will bend to the curve of the roof. Run the slots parallel with the curve. The curve will hold a more stable fashion

    • @DevsDice
      @DevsDice  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's some good advice right there! Thanks Tobias for sharing! 👍💙💛💙

  • @elchucko7

    Man, those window boxes really sell the place! I used to be big on making my shingles the same way you did in the video, but now I usually opt to make strips with my proxxon and stagger them. Yeah, it can look repetitive if I'm not paying attention when I do it, but as long as I flip them, or cut different lengths when I'm staggering them it's pretty good! I look forward to the next video, like always! Stay Safe!

    • @DevsDice
      @DevsDice  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hahaha! First one to comment on those window box planters! Thanks for that! Yeah I can imagine making strips is a bit faster but since I wanted some areas have some shingles "missing". But I might try the strips-method in future builds for sure! 👍😀

  • @EpicParsnips

    Really nice build! I really like the more fantasy style over absolute realism. Usually it’s more fun to explore various vibrant colours rather than just boring browns and greys. I think I might make something like this with a blue roof……

    • @DevsDice
      @DevsDice  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks MattTheMonster! I agree and funny you should say the blue roof because I was thinking of having some with dark blue and green tones later on! Hope to get a village or city done during the summer! 👍🙂

      Hahaha! That's good to hear! Not sure how much it weighs. I can weigh it during the day but I am fairly sure we are talking less than 100grams. XPS foam is so light and the only thing of any weight might be the metal windows, the hotglue and the resin! 👍🤣

    I know that this is an older video of yours but I like it! Really awesome-looking house Leif! I also like your trick for making the windows. Have you ever thought of adding some resin paint of a couple different colors as you're doing the resin to make it look like stained glass? Great vid also! I especially love the music you use at the end when doing the beauty shots! (I think I heard another TH-camr refer to them as such!)

    Hello there, first of all, lovely build! I really enjoyed watching the process! I've got a question though: The "hot foam rod or whatever it's called" that you use at 8:54 ... what is it actually called? 😅 the tool looks like it doesn't have a flat tip, it nearly looks like individual pieces of "metal hair" come out, making the tip more look like a paint brush, so to speak. That's super clever to use this for the wood texture. Now I am searching the web for such a tool but I only find hot knifes, hot wire cutters, but nothing with that brushy tip that you use 😭 You got any idea how this thing is called?

    • @DevsDice
      @DevsDice  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I honestly don’t know what it is specifically called. I would look for a handheld foam cutter with multiple tips. Because mine came with 3: one that does horizontal cuts, one for detailed point work and then the wand part. Looked around on amazon and it does kind of look like this one. Here it is called a foam cutter pen! Hope this helps!

    I have watched this video quite a few times now but today I noticed at 18:47 after the magnets when you start modgepodging it, there are beams on the inside corners that weren't there before, are they for added support? For lift for the paint to dry in the air? How are they attached? Are they removed again or cut off?

    • @DevsDice
