Hi Rick/Pauline . While you were in Port Sunlight i was at the Manchester Show. Probably one of the best i've ever been to! Quite a statement but it was brilliant & even the trains to/from Poulton to Manchester behaved. Some of the layouts were superb & put mine to shame. Loads of traders too. Bought a couple of coaches & a Palethorpes sausages wagon! Wanted one for ages got it for a tenner...bargain! Amazingly i didn't buy a loco although i had my eye on a weathered Hornby 9F for 50 quid & kept going back to it to see if it was still there as you do! I had a budget & stuck to it. Kept telling myself i have far too many. I already have several 9F's anyway. Loved that Gresley you bought Rick think i would've been tempted. I have four in my collection as they are one of my favourites. Merry Christmas! Rich from B'pool
I think Sunlight was the week before Manchester, unfortunately we couldn't make Manchester. Glad to hear it was a good show and we might get there next year. The Gresley was to good to miss but I do want a 9F amongst many other locos. Thanks for watching and merry Christmas ⛄🎄🎅
I love those fairs ,especially the rummage box ,mmm bet you walked away with a wrenn or two locomotives ,that sir Nigel gresley in blue with the No7 looked great mate ,hi to Pauline Mark 🎅🏼🎄😊👍🏻
Hi Mark, it was a great fair, you can find out what we bought in our next video. We are releasing an extra video of our recent buys as our regular vlog will be a round up of the year's best bargains. All the best Rick. 🎄🎅🚂
Hi Neil, Bagpuss is for my Mum and funnily enough I caught an episode on TV recently. I didn't get City of Glasgow as the paintwork was not the best and for that loco it needs to be perfect. I did get the A4 as it was immaculate. It also runs brilliantly, at £65 it was a great buy. All the best Rick
Ok to start off mate I sure do love the great looking Buildings and the Architecture of it all. LOL you all just think I am crazy but just so cool!!! Ok onward 😊. Ok well I am just now starting off... And wow I did see a lot for me for Christmas lol. Do you ship stuff... LOL just kidding with you their mate . WOW look at all of the great Locomotives there are!!! Sorry to be so excited about it all mut ... Well, you know lol!!! OK now you did it Rick I have been collecting Corgi and Dinky's since the early 70's. Sorry to keep on talking but wow this wild to see this many and just sitting in those boxes!!! Thank you so much for picking them up and talking about them!!!! I need all the help I can get on them all lol!!! It sure is a big show. I am going to one on Saturday. So, looking at all of this. What Locomotive should I get and what should I stay away from? Nice Beatles Legos 😋. I sure am enjoying it all wow and now more Corgi's YES!!! You are right about the Matchbox car nice one a bit rough. They both run well now that is just so cool the Beatles wow!!! Great video mate and sorry about talking to much wel I am off for now after this one I do need a nap lol cheers mate🤩!!!!!
Glad you enjoyed it Brad, I love cars as well as trains but tend not to buy that many these days. Although I did buy the James Bond Toyota 2000GT but it was off camera. The FIAT X19 and Lotus Elite with trailered 72 F1 car were tempting! The Wrenn A4 I purchased runs just as well at home and is in tonight's video and so is the Yellow Submarine I bought for Pauline. The only locos I would stay away from are the Mainline steam locos, whilst they look great they are poor runners and tricky to fix when they go wrong which they often do. Apart from that just buy what you like. All the best Rick🎅🎄⛄⛄☮️🚂
Hi Rick & Pauline, some great bargains, i noticed my local model shop Rhuddlan Models in the venue, i could not make it wife was ill hope to make it to Llandudno. all the best TONY [ GRIFFIN GRATION ].
Hi Tony, we know Rhuddlan models and always pop in when we are visiting family in Rhyll. All the best to you both and I hope your wife is fully recovered in time for Christmas. All the best Rick

Hi Deano, I think that TGV is fantastic but it would be totally out of place on our layout. Still tempted though! I was intending to buy a Lima 33 but ended up with an A4. All the best and Merry Christmas Rick
Some more great bargains there Rick. I'm getting excited for the Llandudno show soon. It's been years since I've been to one, but I know the wife will keeping an eye on how much I spend! Lol. All the best, Steve.
That was indeed a stunning building the exhibition went through. I see that Xmas stocking fill has begun😂. Saw the Triang Pullman's, I'm just working on those now, I got 10 of them still want too ad 2 more. A long planned project I know they're a far cry from the ones you can buy now, but still looking fab I think. I made rubber mold to make the correct looking oval windows out of resin. The table lights I put in LED's and the interior gets the real luxurious look, teak walls etc Each coach gets 36 passengers, the break coaches are a few less. And I developed a technique to paint the curtains on the windows to give them depth. The white top sealing's getting a broken white respray as a lot of that white plastic has discolored over time. I think that was also the problem with the green red arrow wagon we saw in the video. ,I think it stared as a blue one, you still could see it a the top side when you turned it. Probably UV discoloration, a real killer for graphics op plastic. Enjoyed the video again, thanks👍
Hi Danny, yes it was a great location and a very good event. We will try and get to the next one in January. We do see quite a lot of the Tri-ang Pullman's as they must have been a very popular model. Sounds like you are giving yours a new lease of life. Shame about the Red Arrows van, I think we have seen a couple of green ones! I couldn't resist the A4 at that price it's in very good condition and runs as well as any Wrenn loco I have seen. All the best Rick 🎅🎄⛄🚂
Gutted I never made it, but good job I didn't, as I saw lots I would have snapped up, but can't afford at the moment! I will definitely have to go in January!
some good things in the boxers nice show to go bin it but did on it was on this year or would of gone some nice things there thank four the good vid thanks lee
Great venue. Super bargains . And look at the N gauge carriages. But the 00 / H0 choice is awesome. Did like the Wrenn gresley. There is an awful lot of choices. The one thing I did see which is good value is the carriages which were in the odds and sods bins, great for making donor’s to replace others or for projects, practicing air brushes or weathering. Very good show. Glad to see Bobby and your Mum getting a day out. 🎊 🎉
Hi Paul, it was a really nice event and it's rare to see those bargain bins with such a wide choice. Those carriages are great for weathering or if you are on a tight budget. All the best Rick
Nice browsing again, great little fair. Btw, ever heard of Varney, not the vampire, model trains? Came across some stuff this weekend , looked quite old and had never heard of it.
Beautiful site and a great looking show. So many great things to see... and potentially buy. Nice purchase, Pauline! Lots of Lima, I see. I love Richard's knowledge of companies and rails. Very impressive. If only he was as knowledgeable on .... Nevermind. Speaking of music... why didn't you ask Nick Lowe to sing a couple of his classics while at his table early on???
Hi Anthony, great location wasn't it. I never knew Nick had a sideline in Toy Fairs but there you go. You should check out an old show called Stella Street which you can see on TH-cam in which Mick and Keith run a corner shop. I will call a truce on the Beatles V Stones as I have no chance of winning when Pauline is buying Yellow Submarines. Cheers for watching Rick.
That looks like a decent train fair venue. You are right, Nicky has a few class 08's and I think she would like one in every colour😊. I did like the ones on the stall though.
Hi Martin, the ratio of N versus 00 varies quite a lot to be honest. The more established traders do seem to have more N gauge the smaller ones less so. Cheers for watching Rick
I've just had a look at those online, it seems there is quite a choice of Dapol limited edition wagons. We are at a fair in Llandudno so I will keep my eyes peeled. All the best Rick
Hi, I think the Trader is called Trackside, there was no one on the stall when we were there. We are going to another fair there next month. I know it's not much help but hopefully we can liaise with the organiser and get more details on all the traders attending. Not all traders actually have info we can give out as quite a few only do it as a hobby. All the best Rick
The Hornby Dublo range from Buxton was a few years back now. They produced a Garrett engine both in three and two rail complete with Dublo style boxes. The prices ranged from £300 plus for a all metal loco. They are not made anymore due to the moulds getting damaged they were trying to find raise funds to replace it I don't know if they did or it still in business.
Hi Alex, the yellow shunter is definitely the rarest of the three but to my eyes by far the best! The problem with those missile wagons is missing missiles! Cheers Rick
There was a three car set - a search light wagon of the same size as the missile launcher, and then a bright red munitions box car, slightly over size. The box car was designed to split into pieces when hit with a missile and had a spring loaded explosive cap firing mechanism inside. Back then rolls of explosive caps (for toy guns) were a common low cost item at Woolworths. The markings were the first time I came across the word NATO.
Port Sunlight was originally a model village for the employees of the Sunlight Soap Company, like Bournville (on the outskirts of Birmingham) was a model village for the Cadbury's Chocolate employees, and Fairbourne (on the mid-Wales coast) for those of McDougall's Self-Raising Flour.
