I don’t care how long the pod/vlog is it’s a joy 👏🏻👏🏻 Loving Lilia’s blanket colour choices well done. that pop of grape adds a certain 👌 sparkle of loveliness ❤
Yes Mr Bates vs The Post Office was really good, very sad. I cried multiple times. Traitors was amazing! Lillia picked fab colours, you’re absolutely right - there’s nothing better than a DK cosy blanket and the Acrylic yarn will last well and super easy for Lillia to look after when she starts uni. Another lovely vlog and yay - I got to watch all in one go 😂💖
Those are such perfect colours for the blanket; in fact, a few years ago I used those same 5 colours (well darn close) for a blanket for my daughter. I think they look so lovely together.
The blanket is looking gorgeous Such great colours, Lillia has a good eye. I'm about a third of the way through the Attic24 ripple blanket in lovely coastal colours. I must pick it up and get on with it but today I am recovering a lampshade!
Ali, The Hermione is Everyday Sock pattern has a similar garter border heel. It alternates every other row slipping the third stitch or knitting the third stitch. It makes a lovely diamond pattern on the heel flap. It is my go to heel flap for every sock that I knit regardless of the pattern.
Lovely to see you vlogging over a week or so! I think the cushion cover is a great idea to use up the jumper body! If you’re not happy with anything it’s sense to modify! Lilia’s blanket colours are lovely and it will be a little hug from you when she leaves home ! Take care and thank you xx
I was thinking pillow cover when I saw the fabric all those yarns were making last vlog, but I don't like to be negative. I am glad you found a practical use for some lovely work.
Your blanket is beautiful-gorgeous choice of colours. I’m working on her Hydrangea blanket, her patterns are very lovely. Knitted both my boys two double bed size blankets when they went to university and they still love them - both done in Stylecraft acrylic and both survived and looking as good as new. Lilia will love and treasure it 💕
That was fun! I spent the time I was watching knitting on a blanket square and drinking Lapsang Souchong :) I love walking in the evening, too, especially in the colder months.

Thanks so much for all the great vlogs and podcasts Ali! I wanted to mention that actually and quite bizarrely, just as you were starting your big comfy jumper that is now a spectacular cushion project, I was starting the "Round Neck Granny Sweater Ivy" pattern by Frisian Knitting. It is only 3 Euros 50 but the video is free and extremely easy to follow. I wanted to make a point of mentioning this because I too, have loose guage. Where she uses Aran and a 5.mm hook I use DK and a 4.5mm. I have also found it hugely adaptable, I am adding on my own ribbing, using a 3.75mm and it is loose and comfy as you were saying you'd lke. I am doing all silver but have plans for a stripey one, using Fiddlestcks 8ply acrylic which is just delcious!! Highly recommend!
Thank you! I have looked that up (this one? th-cam.com/video/AGcRorSv8gQ/w-d-xo.html) and I love that! Her voice is also absolutely lovely to listen to. I am very tempted by this one, thanks for sharing! xx
Yes that's the one! Her voice is wonderful isn't it?! No worries at all, it is very strange that we started jumpers at the same time and seem to have the same tension - so I took it as an omen!
My husband cut his thumb opening our last new knife too, luckily even though we were camping there was a paramedic nearby who helped us. I love attic 24s patterns and cals, I did last year's fireside one but the quality of the stylecraft Heathered was awful, thick and thin parts and stuck together weirdly so I didn't enjoy working on it as much. I hope your batch is a good one.
Lillia's blanket is turning out lovely! I also can not be trusted with new knives. Last time we bought one I cut the tip of my thumb off the first time I used it. I hope that your finger has healed nicely. -Bethany xx
Oh no! 😅 I did that when I was 9 months pregnant with Lilia, sliced the top of my finger and then went into labour - in all the photos of me with baby Lillia I have a huge bandage on my finger! 😂

Ali, I want to thank you for showing/mentioning the tongue drum your sister bought for your girls in one of your podcasts. I was intrigued by it & hadn't ever heard of them. I looked them up on Amazon & found one geared for little kids. I ordered it. Saturday, the 20th, we went to a party for our only great-niece who turned 1 yr. old on the 19th. She has 2 older brothers. The drum was a big hit at the party ! The pamphlet that came w/it suggested using the drum as you read to the kids at bedtime. Our niece said she really looked forward to doing that. Everybody loved the sounds it makes &, like me, had never heard of a tongue drum !
Aw! This is so good to hear and I am glad it was a big success as a gift! My sister is so good at finding unusual instruments - another one she got Phoebe was a Kalimba! It's definitely one that takes practice but it's a lovely one :) 🎶
It's so nice to hang out with you day to day. I love how your pillow turned out. Sometimes we don't really know what we're making till it takes a turn around. Your daughter's blanket is going to be gorgeous. I use a lot of acrylic yarn. I like durability along with ease of care. If it doesn't turn out...oh well. It didn't cost much. I walk a lot. I live in a rural area, so there's really not much to the side of the road. I have to be very careful. I've had very lovely people stop, because they thought I broke down and needed a ride. I thank them for their kindness, but let them know I'm out for the exercise. Some people look at me like I'm crazy. Don't be surprised if you overhear your neighbors saying , "That's just the crazy neighbor lady."
I fear they may already call me that 😂 It is hard to get out walking when you live in an area without many pavements - good on you for keeping going! Crazy walking ladies unite! 😄
Just witter as much as you like Ali! After many sock knitting years I discovered the three garter stitch sl1k1 heel and it’s been the best so far. Love the cushion, it was meant to be! Xx
Thanks Carolyn! 😄 Yes I think I love that heel flap too, I just need to work out the neatest way to pick up the stitches along the side - any tips or patterns or tutorials you know of?? 😃
Sorry, it just came from The Gentle Knitter but she just said she did it that way. I try to pick up the last stitch but underneath if that makes any sense!
😂 I feel your pain over all those cuts. I'm so known for cutting myself, that my son gave me butcher's gloves for Christmas a couple of years ago. They are special knit gloves that have some kind of metal thread knit into them that can't be cut through with either a knife, or a table saw (that they use to cut through both meat and bones). He thought that would keep me from cutting myself. However, about the same time, my husband decided he would do all the cutting from there on in. So I haven't gotten to use them. I have managed to keep on cutting myself though, off and on. Lol.
Haha! I have some of those gloves too - I have never used them either though, I have them to use with a whittling knife that I have always been too scared to try 😅 My husband has taken over the ironing as he couldn't watch me constantly burning myself every time 😂xx
@@LittleDropsofWonderful-Ali actually there are little silicone things you put on your fingers for ironing, so you don't burn your fingers. I think they are called heat finger protectors or something like that. I don't have any yet, but I'm seriously considering them.
The blanket is working out so pretty! Love a faffing (love that word) about video it just shows how we can be all the same but different. I have just finished the Coronation Blanket, yes took a while and I have started a new blanket for the make along which I need to get into the thread and post about. Weather update for you and the family the last week or so we have had stupid hot weather temps at 30℃ to 35℃ with 1000% humidity. I love summer but this is crazy. Thank you again for sharing what you are up too. With love Tiffany 🙂🌻💕🦘
Oh I loved The Hounds of the Morrigan! But I’m a generation older than you so maybe the prose suits me better😊 The blanket you are crocheting for your daughter is gorgeous! She has a wonderful eye for colors and I’m sure she loves all the things you have made her over the years, but this will be truly special.
Happy new year to you all ,loving the colours in the blanket .I have started the peacock crochet blanket by Ophelia Talks as my new 2024 project,it’s very addictive 😂she is going to make a cushion cover in the same pattern, but has suggested that it could be used as a bag for the blanket , which brings me to the point I was going to make 😂 maybe you could do the same for your daughters blanket .
Happy new year Lynn!! Ooo you're the second person to mention Ophelia Talks, I shall definitely go and have a look. A matching cushion cover is such a good idea! xx
I knew it was going to be a cushion! Perfect use of the squishy fabric you created. I did enjoy this vlog and the last one. Kudos to you on the walking!! 🙌🏼🙌🏼
Hi Allie. I started watching your podcasts during vlogmas and haven't missed one since. I really enjoy your down to earth style, humor and all around positive vibe. I love the colors in your daughters blanket. Its nice to see your walks and I fully support your effort to do 1000 miles in a year. I have added walking to my routine and even though its cold out, find it invigorating. I have even reconnected with my neighbors as they are out to get their mail or stop in their car to talk. Thank you for the time you take to produce these podcasts. I know it takes a lot of work. Till next time, take care.
Thank you so much Deborah! I am so glad you enjoy the videos 🥰 I am enjoying the motivation to get out walking, so wonderful to hear you have been getting out too and bumping into the neighbours! Thank YOU for watching xx
Hi Ali, really enjoyed watching this video, put together really well. That cosy blanket colorway works out wonderful, i like the stitch pattern also, they both go together ❤️. Well. The socks are looking good, cool 😎 color pattern, my you are busy! I was wore out just watching all you do. Lol. 😊, the cat was nice to see, it had a nice colorway also, lol. I was wondering, do you still have your chickens? (Or am i mixed up?) Well i do enjoy your videos if crochet and knitting life. Have a wonderfull day see you on the tube 😊😊.
Ah thank you so much! Yes we still have our three mad feathered friends in the garden - they are enjoying some sunshine today after the storm yesterday 🤗 xx
What a gift to go on youtube and find a lovely vlog from you! Thank you! My favorite heel to knit and wear is also the heel flap and gusset with the garter ridges for the pick up. To get my pick up edge neater I twist the stitches I pick up. For me that reduces the "risk" of holes:-) Take care!!xx
Oh thank you Malene! Yes twisting the stitches helps but I get confused as to where to pick up the stitches in the sides, I need to find some tutorials 😄 xx
Great to see you today! I’m watching while I let my car warm a bit, I’m in day 999 of freezing winter weather! Think it’s zero here so about minus 17 degrees there. Hopefully the weather people are not playing with my emotions, they are promising a huge temperature increase. I have spent the week drinking coffee/tea and knitting a sweater just needs sleeves. Loving the blanket
A bath mat would have been EPIC! Now I need to crochet one...I have loads of cotton yarn I could hold together to make a bobbly squishy mat....Thanks for the inspiration Deborah! x
Love your projects, especially the socks. I recently had to do an about-turn on a project. The ugly granny square trousers project was just TOO ugly 😅 and I ended up making small blankets for the SPCA! BTW, wouldn't Flutterby rhyme with Butterfly? 😂 Hope you have a good week.
That was a really cool episode, thanks Ali. I have never done an Attic 24 project - I always end up doing Ophelia Talks blankets. They are done in a similar style, usually in Stylecraft special DK as well. I like the colour combo Lilia chose - something a little different. I bet she would do well in set design with her style sense and eye for colour. Oh a live sounds lovely, as Sarah Milliken would say, "put the kettle on and settle in!"
Thanks so much for sharing all of your makes Allie-it’s so nice to work along with you. I admire how you find little pockets of time throughout the day to treat yourself to some crafting! Cheers!
Great rescue on the chenille and cotton sweater turned pillow. Just finished a blanket with Scheepjes stone washed XL and river washed XL. A solid granny square. It is very heavy and surprisingly warm. Your new projects are very colourful. Very nice to look at on these cold gloomy days. You might want to try Denise at Earthtones Girl for your heal dilemmas. I believe she knits thru the back loop on picked up gusset stitches for the first row to tighten it up. Enjoy your neighbour's cat visit.
I hope you escape the worst of the storm that is attacking us this weekend. I'm in Yorkshire and it started overnight last night. I use a lot of Acrylic yarn as I cant wear wool. I knit a lot of garments for myself so it's acrylic or cotton. I've used Alpaca for a baby blanket but I haven't tried it for myself. I have sock yarn, sock pattern but still haven't tried socks.
Thank you! Hope you weren't too badly affected! We got it quite bad and lost another couple of fence panels (already lost two in the last storm 😅) So got some repairs to do! x
Yes you do! It's easy to get the hang of with a bit of practice, especially if you are already a knitter...and it's easy to rip back mistakes as you learn. Lucy at Attic24 has lots of free and detailed picture tutorials that can help get you started xx
Thank you for a very interesting podcast. I was wondering how you were going to wear that very thick chunky jumper😄 But you saved the project with a very chic and cozy cushion. I also love the colors for the blanket. I would not have thought to combine them together but they are brilliant. BTW, life's too short to read books that you don't like. I belong to a book club and I always try to read the book but sometimes I just have to throw in the towel.
Hey Ali I find your podcasts really soothing, I don't know what it is but I watch them when I'm going to bed!! It's definitely a plus as I am in the States and miss the UK way of life so much, we're finally ending our 4 year tour this year and you've kept me going through it!! I have picked up a love of crochet whilst being here and long to learn to knit but I have had so many false starts that this year was going to be another try at it, so far I've bought two beginners online courses and still not started😆 what project do you recommend?
Thank you Amy 🥰 Ok...so with knitting I learned from a few different sources. I already had a very basic knowledge from being taught as a child, but in no way knew what I was doing so had to start from scratch. I used the Stitch and Bitch book by Debbie Stoller, plus a lot of online videos for free on TH-cam (Very Pink Knits is great for lots of techniques, as it Earth Tones Girl for socks especially). I started with a scarf - just garter stitch until I got used to holding the yarn and making the stitches etc. I hold the yarn in my left hand (continental style) as I was a crocheter first, but many hold the yarn in their right hand (English style) - so the first thing is to find what works best for you ☺️ After that I used the Winwick Mum Sockalong tutorial (on her blog) to knit socks, that took a few attempts! I don't knit socks the same way now, but it got me started! Keep going, you will get there! xx
@@LittleDropsofWonderful-Ali thank you for spending the time to reply🥰 I am going to have a look at these and have a go, I'm determined to crack it!! X
One of my sons did a drama degree at London South Bank.. I hope she enjoys it. 😊 The blanket is going to be beautiful. I agree that you can't beat Stylecraft acrylic for a blanket!
Really enjoyed seeing what you’re working on. Learning to knit socks is a goal for me this year and I’m all clicking needles and yarn winding every which way! 😂 Good to see someone knit socks calmly!
You can do it! I remember my first pair involved a lot of swearing and throwing of needles 😅 I started off with short circulars, progressed to magic loop, and eventually found my happy sock knitting place with DPNs. If you had told me several years ago I would be knitting socks at all, let alone on DPNs I wouldn't have believed it! Keep going and by the end of the year you'll be a sock knitting pro! xx
The blanket is progressing well. The sock heel is often trickier with bamboo/cotton yarn as it does not meld together in the way way as wool. I do find the the garter stitch edge gives a better finish to the heel. 🇬🇧
Thanks Elaine! Yes I do like the look of the garter edge...I need to perfect the way I pick up the stitches along the edge I think - I am going to work on this in 2024 🤗
Love the blanket your making for Lilia, the colours are so warm looking and the pattern is lovely. I also love the colours in the yarn you've used for your socks. Mia, (definitely your cat and you have no say in the matter, lol), is so gorgeous. How are your feathered girlies? We have Storm Whatever It's Gob Is Called here in Liverpool. The way things are going on we'll be running out of letters of the alphabet and be starting again before the winter is over, feels like we've had one long storm with a smattering of snow. Right, preparing for my weekly 3hr phone call to my cousin, have a great week, see you in the next vlog. 😊
Thank you so much Trisha! As I type Mia is sleeping between me and my keyboard 🙄 She's definitely the boss around here :) The chickens are doing great, HeyHey is fully recovered and all three are enjoying the post rain earth - lots of bugs to find :) Stay safe and warm up there! x
Thanks for a lovely podcast, Ali. Your blanket looks great. I started to do the Attic 24 Sungold mixed stripe blanket. Did a few rows and wasn't really loving it so I frogged it and started the colourwash version. Not sure I made the right decision. Time will tell! Hope you and your family have a good week. x
Hi Ali, I love watching your videos, I’m just wondering if you could help me with some advice, I’m knitting a chunky jumper on straight needles but finding them a pain as I’ve hurt my arm so wanted to try and knit on circular needles could you recommend ones to use, also is 51/2mm the same as 5.50mm. Look forward to hearing from you. Julie
Hi Julie, thank you! I would say circular needles could definitely help as the cable takes a lot of the weight of the project - there are so many to choose from! I tend you use Knitpro Zings fixed circulars as they are affordable, but there's also HiyaHiya and Chiaogoo. I think 51/2 is a US measurement and is not the same as 5.5mm. Here's a really handy conversion chart that might help (it doesn't go up as far as 51/2 though) www.laughinghens.com/knitting-needle-sizes
Just wondered if you'd considered Meniere's disease as a cause if your vertigo and hearing issues? As a sufferer I wouldn’t wish it on anyone but ….. it might be an explanation?

That IS crazy! I wouldn't cope - I hope you have shade or air con to escape to whilst you are working away on your cosy blanket xx
I wish I liked that flavor of tea. I tried it and the flavor and aroma are just not for me. You always make it sound so delicious. 😄
Hi again Ali, just received my tea Advent calendars, was very excited to receive a parcel from Germany! 😂
Hope you enjoy it as much as I have! 😋
I really enjoyed it in the end, so many wonderful characters and a proper adventure! 🤗 Thank you Patricia xx
Haha, well spotted Evie! I am so pleased with how it came out...and I have plans for the remaining yarn I frogged too! 🐙xx
Great video, like usual. 👍
Thank you Elaine 😘
Gorgeous blanket and Liliya will always think of home when she uses it xxxx
I hope so 🥰
I thought you make a cushion is looks good
Love the cushion! What a great idea!!! Mia is such a love!! Always enjoy seeing her in a video!
Thank you!! 😊 Honestly Mia is a joy, she’s such a gorgeous and good natured cat 🐱
Love a Stylecraft blanket, as you said they are so easy to look after and soft. lilia's color selection is lovely. Have a great week x
Thanks Sandi! xx
@@LittleDropsofWonderful-Ali I pick in the bar between the purl bumps. I wonder if The Crazy Sock Lady might have a tutorial 🤔 Take care🤗
Hi just prescibed to your channel really enjoyed your blog looking forward to your next one ❤
Hi and welcome! Thanks for subscribing ❤️
Lovely house. Exciting times ahead x
Thank you Nancy x
Love Lilia’s colour choices! Very reminiscent of Daisy Jones and the Six. 😄
Ooo yes! Very Daisy Jones! 😃
Hi Allie I have an allergy to sticking plasters so I use super glue for all my cuts, loved the cushion
I have never heard of that before! 🩹 xx
Love the colours Lilia chose for her blanket! Please be extra careful with your new knives you need those crafty hands 🎉
😅 Thank you! I’ll make Dan do all the food prep…much safer!
Sounds cold Deb! ❄️ Get those sleeves done so you can wear the sweater and stay warm 😄😘
@@LittleDropsofWonderful-Ali it’s a gift knit!
That was lovely, I thought you might make the sweater into a bath mat but the cushion looks great.
Lilia’s colours are fabulous ❤
A bath mat would have been EPIC! Now I need to crochet one...I have loads of cotton yarn I could hold together to make a bobbly squishy mat....Thanks for the inspiration Deborah! x
Love the yarn you are using for the socks you have on the go, very pretty.
Thanks! It's really soft too, I'm looking forward to seeing how they wear :) x
Nice save on the not-to-be chunky jumper. Useful finished object, done and dusted.
Thanks! 👍 Feels very satisfying! :) x
An excellent save! Not sure about crochet trousers but never say never 😁 Oh yes FlutterBY would make more sense....but FlutterBEE is so fun to say 😂
Haha, I can hear her saying that! Love her 🫖 I will look up Ophelia Talks...I have heard of her but never had a look, thanks! x
Thanks so much for sharing all of your makes Allie-it’s so nice to work along with you. I admire how you find little pockets of time throughout the day to treat yourself to some crafting! Cheers!
Thank you so much! ❤️
Thank you Valerie! xx
The colours for the blanket are gorgeous ❤️ I may borrow them 🤣
Oooh yes do, Lillia will be thrilled with that! 😄
We got it quite bad and lost another couple of fence panels (already lost two in the last storm 😅) So got some repairs to do! x
The yarn and pattern stitch of the blanket are just beautiful, I think I need to make one too!
It's a lovely pattern to work on, very easy to pick up and very meditative. And it's free too! xx
I made a blanket for my youngest to take to uni, she decided to have a gap year!!😅
😂 kids!
Lilia’s blanket is gorgeous!
Thanks Shelly!
Loved how you made a cushion out of a nearly-jumper 🙂
Thank you! I was very pleased with the outcome - and my daughter loved it so much she now has it on her bed 🤗
Blanket is going to be beautiful. Can’t wait to see the finished project.
I love the colors Lilia chose for her blanket!❤
Thank you! xx
Gorgeous vlog Ali, Thankyou. Absolutely love the Sungold blanket, I might have to teach myself to crochet. Cheers Chris 🦘
Thanks Carol! 🤗
Aw yay! Great place to go to uni! 🎭
Keep going and by the end of the year you'll be a sock knitting pro! xx
This is very encouraging and helpful! Thank you!
The blanket is progressing well. The sock heel is often trickier with bamboo/cotton yarn as it does not meld together in the way way as wool. I do find the the garter stitch edge gives a better finish to the heel. 🇬🇧
Thanks Elaine! Yes I do like the look of the garter edge...I need to perfect the way I pick up the stitches along the edge I think - I am going to work on this in 2024 🤗
I enjoyed your flog !!
Yay! Thank you!
Your blanket looks really good.😍
Thank you! 😘
Hope you and your family have a good week. x
Oh yes she has done a different option hasn't she! Such a lovely idea. You could always make both...😉 xx
Ali~I've tried to comment on your other channel, a couple times, but neither of then went through -- it's Feb 2
Hi Mandy - don’t worry, both your comments came through on my other channel and I’ve seen them and replied 😃 xx
Say the word 'butterfly' and then say Flutterby the same way. I think that's the idea. A fluttery butterfly. 🦋
I think you are right! 🦋
❤
xx 😘
I’d love a live chat with you,Ali.
I like your pink scarf yarn. I cannot find it online. Do you know if it’s still available? Thank you. I love your videos!!
Thank you! I am about to make another and the pattern is the Moonlit Shawl by Cherry Heart - www.cherryheart.co.uk/2017/06/moonlit-shawl.html xx
Is this your craft vlog? It didn't seem the same format at your other ones,
Hi - this is a making vlog, I make them occasionally in addition to my longer monthly wrap-ups 🤗 x
💜💚🧡💚💜
💗
Now you can call it your "Blood, Sweat, and Tears" pillow.
😄 I love that!
Just wondered if you'd considered Meniere's disease as a cause if your vertigo and hearing issues? As a sufferer I wouldn’t wish it on anyone but ….. it might be an explanation?
