We have violent crimes in the TTC, and this is what they are worried about? TTC is a hustler and not worth the fare! What human being feels safe here? What parent feels safe sending their adolescent kids to school or part-time work on public transit? Get it right make it safer. And most of the people who don't pay a fare are homeless anyway. My line constantly has issues and I end up having to walk the rest of the way, so why am I paying full fare to only be taken half way home? The extra revenue from ticketing is going back to pay the enforcers so it's not helping the service routes at all
The lack of service..and people cramming on busses and streetcars is another problem for fare evasion. If all forms of payment are blocked by bodies...who's paying?.
when TTC looks at this as a revenue solution it will fail, we are getting less and paying more for transportation that is always late, slow or shut down, not to mention UNSAFE.

I'm homeless right now. I still pay for my monthly bus pass. So that is no excuse for skipping fare. Most of them choose drugs which results in no money for nothing else. If the addicts in this city want to be treated like normal human beings than they can start getting tickets like a normal human being. I only get so much on Ontario Works and I am lucky to be on the Fair Pass program, but I still pay $123.25 each month for my monthly bus pass. Being homeless like I said is no excuse for not paying your bus fare. I am totally on the TTC's side for cracking on fare evasion. Good on them.

Everyday i that’s what i saw on the bus and it’s not fair for us who’s honest and pay. They shouldn’t open the back door anymore when someone is getting off. Coz that’s where they pass and the bus driver just ignore it to avoid argument. Sometimes that where fights start.
Also this is city service. Think of bus fare as admission, just like say, ice skating. You still pay full price to enter the ice rink. No matter if you stay there 5 minutes or 5 hours. So regardless if you are travelling 1km or 100km you still need to pay FULL fare

TTC has a ton of issues, fare evaders aren't it. Gov refuses to properly fund it, it receives less money per capita than any major transit system in NA. Fines of up to 425 are some of the highest too. Toronto needs to decide if it wants a real transit service or one limping along for eternity. Raise property tax ffs
once the housing collapse happens 50% of current value, then after assessments rent will go down unless greedy landlords who are stuck with high interest rates and make other suffer their poor financial decision
Well actually sometimes they do drive on the TTC:- before the pandemic I saw a guy driving a motor scooter on the Jane platform in the morning rush hour. You can see just about anything on the TTC!
