- Steering won't tilt on your Oliver 1650, or maybe 1850, or several other models? Here's a quick video on what all is involved in adjusting or freeing up the plunger that gets stuck and keeps it from working.

Chris,
I really appreciate that you dont swear in your videos. I get way too much of that at work and other you tube videos.
Thanks again

Thank you. It's getting to where the cuss words are losing their impact.
I’m glad to know that with a little pulling in and out and wiggling you were able to get it done in the dark.
Thanks Chris my 1850 is stuck down and I’ve been waiting for this helpful video to come out.
Now we are going to need a bone yard tour!
You're not the first to request that. 😂
Now I know how it works. Thanks, Chris!
I know my son is going to appreciate this video Chris!
Thanks
He's why I filmed it. It was convenient at the time , but I do occasionally take requests.
@@ThatOliverGuyChris well thank you very much, that’s very thoughtful of you on his behalf.
This will help out my friend with a 1650 that has had the wheel stuck in the up position for like 5 years…it’s like driving a school bus 😂
😂😂😂
Your. Really. Good. Getting. That. Stuff. Figured. Out
Thanks!

Chris that looks like that's kind of a pain to get that in there. Good thing you're used to working in the dark 🤣🤣🤣🤣 thanks Michael
That reminds me of a saying I have.... After watching some farmers hook up hydraulic hoses, I can see why there are so many unsatisfied women out there. 😂
@@ThatOliverGuyChris that is too funny 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Hey Chris! Morning... Good video👌🏻👌🏻
Morning! Thank you
That looked like not so much fun, definitely not very much room to work in. But I guess you got it fixed, I would have had that cussing jar filled and half another. Thanks for sharing Chris, have a nice day!
The 1550 and 1650 dash is definitely a pain to fix this. That's why it's a good idea to let any power steering leaks go so they keep that pin freed up.
That's perfect timing. I'm working on my 1800 c steering it was updated, but what a mess . Thanks for the great timely info.
Excellent. These videos don't do as well as the tractors in action, so I'm glad when they help out.
Those like to go tight, especially when left out in the elements. Thanks for showing us how you fix it 😃
I had a request, but the microphone wouldn't fit, so I made this video instead.
Mine wasn’t working, had it fixed for awhile and now it not worky again…perfect timing for this video as it looks like I’ll have to tear into it again and fix it properly once and for all!
For enough cookies, I'll come down and fix it. LOL
Looks like I didn’t see your reply about the cookies lol
Finally tore into mine yesterday. Should there be a washer between the jam nut and the spring? My spring has walked over the jam nut causing the spring to enlarge a bit and maybe being a little larger OD than the plunger itself. Oh, and Merry Christmas Chris and family!
@@ricehillrestorations I don't recall a washer. The spring pushes against the pin, and is held in by the cover. If you put a washer in, it's going to compress the spring more. Maybe yours doesn't have the original spring?
Merry Christmas!
👍👍👍👍👍👍
It is always an aggravation when your column sticks and it is always in the wrong position.
😂. I see what you did there.
"Very Interesting". :)
Hi Chris, we have a white 2-155 field boss tractor. Do you know how the spring for the steering wheel tilt hooks up to the foot pedal? Accidentally took out the wrong bolts and the spring came unhooked.
I wish I could help you, but I haven't had to mess with one of those,
Great video Chris, Maybe I missed it, but Allens tractor is a 1650? I have a 1750 with a limp peddle. It sure seems like the plunger pin is unhooked. I Think mine would be the same as the one in the video, not the 1850 at the end?
Yes, Alan's is a 1650 and the 1750 will be identical to the 1850 at the end. The 1750 style is probably the easier of 2.
Thank you for the information in all the videos you do. I definitely learn a lot!
This is something that I need to do in my 1800 for some reason the tilt steering does not lock
I'm not sure what would cause that, unless someone took the pin out.
No if I remember correctly, the pedal is stuck down and I could not get it to come back up and never wanted to force it. I would have to walk out there and look but I'm pretty sure that's what the scenario currently is.
@@Adam_Poirier ok. Probably got rusted in the down position
Hopefully that's all that's wrong. Legend has it I'm going to get ownership paperwork for that tractor Transferred from the farm to myself pretty soon which means the restoration can start.👍
@@Adam_Poirier awesome!
This is off subject but growing up in south Louisiana for me it’s strange to see regular height Oliver tractors all of them around here or high crop that goes for any tractor really! Was there no use for high crop tractors up north or where there a few?
I never saw any up this way until they became popular as collectibles. I've got to think some were shipped to other areas of the country, but Louisiana was where the vast majority of the high crop Olivers went. There was a dealer in Thibodeaux that did so many of them that Oliver eventually would ship them a mostly assembled tractor with the extra high crop parts and that dealer would finish assembly at his place.
Ha that’s funny I live in thibadaux!
Are the 55's similiar? I have a 2-85 that needs attention.
It's a little different . That one pivots on a bolt in the dash and doesn't have the plunger, it's all built into the pedal. If it doesn't move, then the pivot bolt needs freed up. It's down in the dash, you might be able to get to it removing the dash side panels by the clutch and brake pedals.
@@ThatOliverGuyChris Thank you.
What a terribly unfun job there. I had the side of a dash stripped out of a tractor the other day to change a hydraulic hose down below. Almost need to be a contortionist or a gymnast to get some of these jobs done.
I hear ya
