What a beast that thing is! Those Rice & cane tires. Power rear drive. 👀4 rows wide! It will put corn in the crib in a hurry! I remember the videos of you getting it all set up. You've really got a nice picker there! Nice work!!👍
The unisystem is a awesome setup. I have my grandfather's new idea 330 corn picker in the shop and has been my winter project. A self propelled machine is just a incredible machine. And something my grandfather always wanted. But never bought. It felt like it took forever to pick 50 acres of corn when I was younger
@Boehm Farm picking corn was a interesting chore for me as a kid. Because we always had combine running somewhere close and the picker was always picking corn in a field right on the farm. So I would unload eared corn and drop a wagon and take off to grab a wagon to empty to keep the combine rolling as well. The dairy farm was a action packed place.
New Idea established itself as one of the leading corn picker brands with its improved husking bed. Good to see that the UniPicker still cleans ear corn well.
I’m in my 30s. We have a diesel truck that was old and crusty when I was 10 years old. I remember just dumping the ether to that truck for fun. I drove it around the farm daily. Winter time I would spray 1/6 can of ether in that old thing to start it. Did that for years. When I was in my late teens my friends and I decided to try to end that motor by using a bunch of ether and trying to get it to runaway. Never would. We went through a bunch of cans of ether. That truck still runs to this day. I know certain engines and certain situations can cause damage with ether but I don’t think those older engines are phased too much by a little ether. You’ll be fiiiiiine. Lol. PS… I would absolutely LOVE to see you get an old diesel engine and do a “runaway diesel” video in your own style. I think it would be epic to see your calm demeanor in a video while there is an entire engine enveloped in runaway chaos going on in the same video. 😂
New Idea made the best picking units ever. The Uni System was an interesting thing, but excelled at picking ear corn. Pull type pickers were unmatched. Great video
I fly with my 803c and it takes it well with a 6 row Deere head and I am pulling 320 dmi wagon's in what you would call mountains lol . Most ever harvested in one day and I had three guys busy running wagons with a fast conveyor. Unloading was about 8000 bushel. The allis power uni always had to park it so her butt got morning sun. The Cummins engine was the best thing they ever did with the uni as far as I'm concerned
Oh yeah gotta make the crazy tree huggers mad lol. On our Allis-Chalmers 7060 I had to do some work on the motor, it’s always been a hard starter so I had the injectors gone through, made a world of difference with starting it.
I wasn't doing so hot in this video. Seemed like every other week I was fighting something all fall. Got a stomach bug after Christmas and been good after that.
It wood be cool to find a dump wagon to go behind it it then you could gust dump in to the gran trunk or the wagons behind the tractor and never have to unhook or hook the wagons to the picker
In all of my 426 Allis experience, never ever touch that plunger lift pump. Replace filter yearly & buy the $15 o-ring kit for the pump simultaneously. Also, don't forget to reset the fuel shutoff to 'run' as they like to drain to tank in a few days otherwise.
Don't use ether then your tractor will need it more just plug in the tractor before u use it or else it will break your tractor lol but great video once again
2:08 watching it drip as you're wondering if it's leaking lol that shit's too expensive to drop on the ground, ain't gonna hurt nothing but your wallet, not like gasoline where it'll burn the tractor down
I owned a Uni. How many ears did You lose to get the wagons that full with little or no sideboards? But You are on flat land. I had 2 foot sideboards on My wagons to save corn. You can pick some serious corn in a days time with that unit.
If you come across some large concrete pipe or similar could you put that in the creek ,and just cover it with earth or gravel , even a few feet of a bridge would make a big difference to crossing that dip ,
Are most of your ear corn sales to other farmers to grind into feed, or deer hunters? How many acres do you pick as ear corn a year? Not many farmers pick ear corn in my area anymore.
Most of it gets wasted on deer. I probably picked ten acres this year. I've picked more in the past and hope to have storage in place for next year to pick more.
How long until the climate crazies come to shut you down? The way corporations (like Black Rock and Bill Gates) are buying up all the farm land, I'm afraid not too long. How's your ESG score Jacob? On a lighter note, I truly envy your life and the family working together like y'all do!
Thanks Jacob for thinking of our children in Africa, I am in South Africa but yes, there is hungry children up North, nice video

I must like picking corn too much. I wouldn't care how long it took to pick fifty acres as long as it was going smoothly.

Great video. Thanks for sharing. That uni system is one sharp looking setup. Hope you can show more footage of it in action

A great way to start the day, been hoping to see that unisystem running.

Good stuff. Wagon train been waiting for it,
I wish I would've been able to come drive it. Maybe next year.
You sound like you have a cold. Either way as a farmer we still have to get the chores done. 👍🇨🇦

That is one dee-lux corn pickin' rig!
That back wagon tire was holding on for dear life. Looked like a bent rim maybe? It’ll roll until it doesn’t lol
You weren't allowed to see that. Oops lol
Keep the picking videos coming Jacob. Looks like it runs well.

Hello there Mr. Boehm❄☔. Are ear corn still as sought after by hunters?
Great video! Nice looking cab on that unit?
So is this deer corn sweet corn or silage type corn? Thanks. We love your videos.
It's corn for grain.
Thanks jacob
Sure beats your old tractor drawn two row unit. Movin up in the world...

The guys buy the ear corn for deer hunting or feeding animals? How much does a pickup load cost?
Wasting on deer. 210 for a full size bed.
Do you ever have a hard time finding buyers for ear corn like that?
No, deer hunters get their truck beds filled often. No one around here has ear corn. Niche market.
With all of these recent uploads is it safe to say Boehm farm has finished their 2022 harvest?
Got a little corn left that I'm hoping it freezes for. In two videos you'll see why.
2:08 watching it drip as you're wondering if it's leaking lol

Jacob you sound a little under the weather? Take care young man!
I wasn't feeling the best when this happened, but nothing was stopping me.

It's not the dip so much as the other side is a wonky hill immediately.
