"Weekly Updates"
That's good news for the entire community i feel, because lately words have been very scarce around the ongoing development on Hunt.
Especially the community managers and the rampant cheating at 5/6 star. It's extremely bad and because they can just "Hide profile", it's impossible to use the report system they get so angry about us not doing.

@@GMANROCKSTHESTOP They've been doing small-ish weapon balance updates every time a new event starts, and then rebalancing after every event ends and they make the weapons available for everyone to earn. They have allowed Cheaters to run rampant (rumor in China is they found a cheat to corrupt your data but idk how real that is since I don't play over there), they added the dumb "private profile" option that cheaters now use to prevent being reported, not that the report ever worked anyways since at 5/6 star US East I've seen the same 6 people non stop, they've not addressed the bugs where a bunch of AI spawn clumped together for no apparent reason (literally out of thin air had 2 armored, 4 regulars, 1 doctor, and an immolator just spawn in a shack I walked into), or some guns being completely off center (was one of the new ones from the event, the ironsight is off about 5 pixels to the right so you have to aim a little left of the target which is annoying).
They're not the worst company ever, but they are slacking in new-ish content and regular updates to prevent cheating from just destroying every game (and the MMR system sine I now have to tank my K/D to play at 4-5 star just to play "normal" games again which would feel unfair to people who belong around those ranks).

On the cheating: You've gotta give us a real option to report cheaters IN GAME. We shouldn't have to go somewhere else. No more hidden profiles. no more coming up on players that have multiple VAC bans. The largely ignored "report" option in game hopefully is getting a rework.
edit: the current in-game report system isn't paid attention to by devs.

You can already report cheaters in-game. Has been available like forever.

@@_T3rm1_ It is clearly said that if you want to report someone, you should do this on the official site, i.e. report via support. The function in game is practically not observed by the developers. It's no secret.

3200+ hours in, took a break waiting for the engine update. The news sound great and I really hope Hunt evolves as I love it dearly. Onward partners!
And with nothing being updated and no new events until the new engine update on August 15th, your break can be a bit longer. I might take one myself.
All the changes they've talked about so far can be done right now. It's weird that they hype up the engine upgrade so much but all they talk about is UI and reverting changes server-side that they've made before
How long has your break been, and when did you start the break? Because they've been adding and changing a lot of stuff in the past year alone. Prolly the most they've very done tbh.

@@psyantologist agree with you on vanilla being more enjoyable than the events, but I love the weather stuff. I was so hyped for the rain and when it dropped it didn't disappoint lol. Really hoping for some new weather stuff after the engine upgrade
@@piewars12345 rain doesn't lend itself to competitive games though. its just a cool feature for newer players to make the game feel aesthetic. hunt relies on its sound design, rain and ash take that away.

With a lot of people that are very picky because we all want this game to be the best it can it’s important we recognize how cool this game is and appreciate the free updates they have been rolling out as well as sticking to a really cool design philosophy instead of selling out like a lot of other games we see. Hunt isn’t perfect but I think a lot of people miss the Forrest for the trees and I can’t wait for the new engine and map

Updates like this are so important, thank you. We know it’s difficult to commit to dates sometimes but you can’t leave players wondering if anything is ever actually coming for too long or you’ll just lose a bunch of the player base.

I just hope gunplay and movement will stay the same so that the actions u do in a match feel the same. Because I like how Hunt Showdown feels (apart from the occasional desync)
Bring back the old Hunt feeling with more "Hardcore" and more learning curves. The game is currently too simple.
I understand the need to lower the barrier to entry for new players, but back then the gameplay was much more intense as it was all about survival.
You had to get the hunter off the map alive, that's not as important now, which took away some of the old core gameplay.
For anyone needing to get the latest consoles to continue playing Hunt, it may be cheaper to just go to PC. Exclusives from both consoles are on there, you don't have to pay a subscription for online play, and Hunt works great with Controller on pc. I use a dualsense when I feel Hunt's giveth nature and switch back to m/kb when I need to get sweaty 😅
Ive been gaming for around 29, 30 years at this point and Hunt Showdown will always be recognized as one of my favorite games and gaming experiences
Finally :) pls Crytek, up your game regarding communication. We as the HUNT community really want and like open and honest info. Radio silence is never a good option.

@@siralw1382 eh, I don't really care much about that part. I play on PC so that doesn't bother me much. At least they are learning. Could say the same for mistakes I've made.
@@garrettbaker8098 I'm a little confused here, I'm a PC player as well. They stated that the engine update would be ready by early 2024 not August. Also, if you think they're "learning from their mistakes" then you haven't been playing this game very long lol. They have not once learned from their mistakes yet and I doubt they ever will at this point
@@siralw1382 interesting of you to assume. I've been playing since day one early access. I have the benefactor skin and everything, but I won't turn this into a "back in my day" pissing contest.
I think they've learned plenty in the years the game has been out. I think you're maybe a little unaware of just how much a live service game takes to run, maintain, and fix. It's no easy feat. A deadline slipping by a few months is not unheard of. Especially with employee movement and change management. 🤠

I really love the openness and transparency this community has in both directions. It sucks that soon I won't be able to play on PS4 anymore, but Hunt: Showdown will definitely be a great motivator to upgrade in the coming future. This is not a game I want to miss.

Good call for the next event to be August 1st. This gives some breathing room in between events, which were a little lacking previously.
Been taking a break for while as I focused on other things, but Hunt remains my go-to FPS. Can't wait to see where you are all going with these changes.

the money put in to those "community managers" who are seemed to be paid for just playing the game and telling us how perfect it is, without any issues, should be spend in some guys who actually can compile some codes and fix some bugs

How many times have we seen statements like this that are followed by zero action from the dev team. It's always just words with crytek. 7 years if negligence, 7 years too late.
Please consider adding permanent Battlepasses a la Helldivers and Halo. It is such a nice feature to be able to have a backlog of progression to work towards. You can keep the BP guns in the BPs and it gives people goals to work towards, instead of just automatically giving them to us after the event ends and giving me nothing to work on when I return after a months long break.
Live service shouldnt mean I have nothing to do if I miss the FOMO window.
I want this guy to be an in game playable character. 10/10 would buy

Sometimes the EAC detects Steamdeck/Linux as cheaters though. However I concur with you 100%... and as we enter the AI age this will become far more problematical. We need AI profiling so cheaters are recognised and dealt with.

Maybe we can "shadowban" cheaters to an undetected cheater queue with AI controlled bots where the cheaters gets instantly headshotted in every match so they get very frustrated. It is far better than just ban cheaters, because they just buy the game on sale or buy full steam accounts on ebay..
This whole cheater epidemic because people unlearned to have the ability to accept not winning everytime in anything without getting mental illness is really getting insane

Can we also have PING limits and take off Aim Assist on PC.
I literally can't play at my time because the America West servers get flooded by people from Japan, Australia, China, etc.
I have been killed by Ping Abusers more than anything else.
The Aim Assist on PC also has people head popping like it was nothing. I watched a solo, while we were moving and returning fire at them, shoot all three of us, one shot each.
I have a decent KD, I know I am not nuts here. 1.35, used to be higher.

this was 100% in response to Huuge's videos. his content has forced the Devs to be more straight forward. Huuge is the single best driving force for the players. and again... nothing of substance was really said here... they just gave a date and said they would eventually talk about the stuff we want them to talk about.....

they clarified the misunderstanding of the "as soon as april" announcement, clarified how the transition to new consoles would be, anounced that we should expect a new map and a lot of new content along with the new engine, and gave us an actual date. Did we watch the same video?
plus, Crytek was always open about announcements. They always made dev videos announcing everything months in advance and gave feedback through them and dev streams. this is such a made up complaint
I haven't played Hunt in over a year since I lost my daily Hunt partner and I couldn't get myself to play it without him, but we played this game daily for almost an entire year and it gave me some of my greatest gaming memories I've had, and I've been playing for 20 years. Seriously thinking of jumping back in with my Series X in August with the engine update. I hold this game dearly to my heart
Glad for more transparency. I, as a developer myself, can understand long radiosilences - as I have a vague idea how much work happens behind the curtains -, but the community as a whole can be really vocal if it doesn't get it's info fix.

@maximilianocon2503 crossplay with consoles and pc would only further divide the community, already many don't play crossplay between consoles because of ping/latency issues, but add in the difference in ability between using a mouse and keyboard, and using a controller? Granted that a large amount of 'top' console players already do use mouses via adapters, it'll make playing the game casually that much less appealing

@maximilianocon2503 Fair enough, I just don't know if it'd be enough incentive for Crytek to add it in. If so, few would use it regularly, you know? As far as the console side of crossplay, the issues aren't solely because of crossplay. It's just a little extra issue on top of the common console issues, is all, not a whole new set

I've wanted to get Hunt for years now and just never had the money to spend, missed every sale they've had too. 😅 Hopefully by August I'll be able to save up the money, this sounds like a massive improvement to an already phenomenal game and I'd hate to miss out on the same game twice lol.
