- This week on Strikers Corner, we talk about Transfer Rumors with Ismael Kone, Moise Bambito and others along with what Jonathan's thoughts are on his own transfer!
Copa America is underway and we are currently slated to play on July 5 against an opponent that is TBD. We talk through our tough matches against Argentina and Peru! We decided to focus on the pitch and wait to release this podcast until after the Chile match, but with that match taking place yesterday, we are planning on shooting another podcast this week to release soon!
Good luck in the quarters guys. We behind you
Canadian Legends
Class acts both
David!!!! 🔥🔥🔥
ayeee I didnt know these guys had a pod! Kudos guys, great work at the Copa. You are making us all proud. Keep fighting!
From Vancouver! Huge props to you guys for the win over Peru. Watched on tv with my 6 year old son, first soccer game he watched on tv. Results are everything, agreed! I want you guys to get results, however you play. Long time Team Canada fan since 1990s lol. I am so happy we have you guys and the rest of the boys! You are so much fun to watch.
Canadian legends, lets go!!! Would love to see Richie or Nova Scotian Messi on the pod next lol
I enjoy listening to these conversations. Good luck in the quarter finals and beyond! 🍁
How has it been with Jesse Marsch? How is his management style different from John Herdman?
Wonderful segments you’re producing. Good luck to you both and the rest of the team. It’s been a joy to watch you develop and succeed.
The fans who aren't happy started watching soccer yesterday
What a comment
Looking forward to see you guys play against Venezuela in the quarters
Question for next time: Aside from players who are already capped for Canada at the senior level, do you know of any prospects or up-and-comers that have you excited for Canada?
Grady McDonnell, is a 6' tall 16 year old who became the youngest player to sign a CPL contract when he joined Vancouver FC in 2023 at the age if 15. Is turning heads.
Canada Soccer will be keeping a close eye on McDonnell, who turned 16 on Feb. 17. He has represented both Canada and Ireland at youth level - his father has Irish bloodlines - and has yet to declare his international allegiance.
Vancouver coach Afshin Ghotbi has marvelled at McDonnell's performance in pre-season, calling him "one of the best young athletes in North America."
"How he's improved, literally since Feb. 20, is incredible," Ghotbi added. "This guy's for real. Every day he's getting better. He works very hard at his profession.
Check him out on TH-cam.
you guys really seem to have good characters and friendly personalities... you add a lot of class to our nation's image and feel proud to see you represent us...
TALK ABOUT HOW DAVID GOT THOSE CONNECTIONS TO GO TO EUROPE, IT WILL HELP MORE CANADIAN KIDS GET TO EUROPE YOUNG SO THEY CAN DEVELOP OVER THERE ❤
This is great. So insightful to hear you talk things through.
It was great to hear your thoughts on all the segments you covered in this pod up to now. Love the passion and committment you both have brought to the Canadian program. We'll be supporting you lot throughout the year and for years to come!
Lets go boys!! David needs to net one in Copa to get that next transfer. Game winner against Venezuela be a massive statement.
Great show!!!! I was listening while getting ready for bed, it was perfect lol...Nonethless g'luck against Venezuela.
Your defensive play in these past five games has been excellent, gents! Inspiring for young players to see that a strong two way game is so important. There were some good examples of using your body to shield the ball while making the turn upfield. I wish you and all the team continued focus and discipline on the field to get your desired results. The team has made great strides in this last few weeks but it looks like there are many more levels to achieve. Go Canada! 🇨🇦
Congrats on making the semi-finals & best of luck vs Venezuela, from the whole 'old dudes group' in the Laurentians in Quebec!!!
We are all loving watching this team play & when you win, we don't care how you do it!!!
You have already proven that this team can score goals in the 2022 Qualifiers, so it's only a matter of time until your offense adjusts to Jesse's new style.
Still, the best defences win tournaments!!!
LOVE this! I've been following the team since 2017. You guys are killing it! Cheers from Calgary!
speaking for myself, many fans you have are also hockey fans, winning is not enough you also have to dominate, why the criticism, not your fault, give us time, it's our nature. Now listening to you guys, you provide an education in the game you play and how the sport are different. you have an entire country behind you Go Canada
J'aime ce podcast! Hello from Montreal. Merci pour la belle performance! On est derrière vous!!
The new strategy isn't as free flowing and offensive minded as it was under Herdman. That was great to watch, but against top level talent, flaws were exposed. Can you talk a little about your perspective on the difference in strategy and why the new strategy can be effective?
get laryea on the pod next
I love that this podcast exists - go get em fellas - love it!
I love JD's french accent. Sounds so cool haha
🇭🇹
I believe he grew up around St Laurent in Ottawa, I knew a lot of Haitians there
Question: Thoughts on fellow striker Oluwaseyi? It has been a meteoric rise for him (similar to Bombito and Kone) and he's scoring some special goals that show real quality in MLS. How long do you think before Europe takes an interest in him? And are you scared of losing your starting spot on Canada's front line!? Tani is coming on strong!
Too bad he couldn’t get that one the other night, though!!!… ohh so close!! 🙈
Good Luck on Friday! Let’s make history again! 🇨🇦🍁
It was fun hearing you guys break down Johnny's goal against Peru. Get that W against Venezuela!
🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿
So proud! Let's go give it all you've got against Venezuela!!! And I agree, the cost of youth sports only allow kids with money to succeed,... it should be mandated that 2 free spots for every youth team be reserved for kids who can't afford it.
the last segment about development here in Canada was most important. We should be talking about this every episode to stress its importance. We need to get better at development of our youth players and Coaches
They should honestly have a whole episode dedicated to this topic
How did you get noticed by gent coming from Canada
THATS THE QUESTION WE ALL NEED TO KNOW FRRR
Thanks guys for everything you do, would love to have Davies on & interview him ✌️
For Cyle. Question is coming from a Forge FC fan and season ticket holder. When did Bobby Smyrniotis first recruit you to Sigma and do you have any good Bobby stories? Also, what are your thoughts on where he could end up coaching in his career. It's been amazing seeing the success he's had here in Hamilton and the amount of players he's developed... You, Richie, Tajon etc... Love the content you're both providing. It's amazing seeing where we're at with the game in Canada with the national team and Canadian Premier League. Best of luck vs Venezuela this Friday.
Question: What’s your tips on breaking through a reserve/U23 team onto the first team?
Bring the coach as a guest . Good podcast . Good luck in semi finals Argentina P2
oh shit, what a nice podcast idea. Nice. Lets go!
Great podcast and you need to promote it far. Come to Spurs Iceman !
You guys should keep going
Pretty cool to hear the guys review their last played game. Imagine no punditry just the players uploading reviews on TH-cam haha
Get Ali on the pod. Big talker. Also question: do you like having access to social media as a player? Or is this something that you feel hinders your play?
How did you go about finding and choosing an agent?
Reste à Lille, légende ❤️
Neat podcast. Very candid stuff. Congrats on your individual and Team successes
Love your insights into the game, without the journalists pressure. Good luck against Venezuela.
Come on guys fight for Tajon on friday! lets go team Canada..
🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿
Yeah, the pay is big. I can afford it, but if I don't see direction in my kid's rise, it's hard to swallow the cost. Too bad, because there are kids that bloom at different times, so its hard to spend money waiting for that bloom/or not. I can't image parents that struggle and have to justify the cost when there is no rise indication. A lot of potential kids slipping through the cracks. And I know about some clubs being too exclusive.
Bring ali & kone
What did you think about the head butt on Ali?
Good luck against Venezuela guys! Very interesting point about the development of youths in Canada. 🍁
What are some of the "game within the game" moments of the copa america. Specific things that you or the team does to gain small advantages. Aka, when you're up goal for example, you might walk to get the ball for a throw in, or go down with an "injury" to slow the game down.
yor guys are the best!
Discussion of the goal starts at 18:49
¡Vamos 🇨🇦 c***jo mañana, sí se puede ahí!!! 💪🏿
Who's the funniest guy on the team?
Good luck boys
dont listen to the new fans who complain - you guys are killing it
Q: For Cyle. I was a big Ronaldo R9 Phenomo fan. What was it like being selected by him for Vallodolid, and did he give you any advice? Also, have you talked to Mallorca part owner Steve Nash? Good work in the Copa, Gentlemen!
I bet you guys gonna goal tomorrow 😊
Championship is way tougher league than Ligue 1. Kone will be great for OM
This is not true. Ligue one is better than championship no debate
@@alexpeters8038 I meant tougher physically, but saying there’s no debate is a bit much. I think a midtable championship team could give a midtable ligue 1 team a good game.
either bring in Shaff or Davies
I'm a huge Jonathan David fan. Would you like to play for Arsenal?
Bring in Alistair Johnston!
Question: What emotions did you experience during the final minutes of Canada’s Copa America Semifinals?
get the gaffer as your next guest! 😝😝
👏👏👏👏👏✌✌✌✌✌
Bring on Alistair!!
How much Fabrizio Ramano do you watch?
Big mon ting ❤
Smart, increase income streams while your young and best of luck
Gotta be better Larin in the FInal Third. Very sloppy play on that ball in vs. Venezuala. Subpar
Classic Canadians, very laid back and "boring" personalities hahah.
You don’t know Canadians, bud.
