Some of those bitey army ants are useful for making sutures. They can be used to stitch a cut or gash by aiming them well at the wound as soon as they clamp their jaws together, you nip the body off and proceed with more ants until completely stitched together.
13:24 Scream and whack the thing with a book (yep, he's got a book, he's that kinda guy) or find the camera while the bug chews into the bone. I feel the agony :-)
It's an attention market, ants that get the right stuff and have it used get a hit of dopamine and so continue working to get more and the ants that don't get attention seek out other materials that are worth taking. The idea is around in Sci fi, the cat men from Larry nivens ringworld series have something of that sort.
Agreed, ants are FAR from the only species classification [outside of primates] to have entire sociological lives, hierarchies, territorial & opportunistic tendencies + other abilities similar to humans. Huge disappointment if I'd been a student to waste my finite semester guest lectures on this simplistic view.
@@ProudMommyOf3PawneePrincessesit's titled exploring complexities: humans VS ants. Nowhere does it say the two are similar. He even starts the talk by saying that comparing similar things are boring, suggesting that these are not
This talk is specifically about ants, complaining about how a talk doesn't contain content outside the scope of the talk is stupid, this talk also doesn't talk about quantum physics, or archery or paleontology, really surprised by your error did you not consider all the the things this talk doesn't discuss or do you only know about monkeys and crows and nothing else? If you wanted a talk about monkeys and crows maybe you should have actually read the title and search for a talk that was actually discussing those topics, did you think about that or is it too much for you to comprehend

A joy to watch!
Very interesting too. Thanks.

maravilloso
How the heck does what he described qualify as a *market*?
It doesn't, but Capitalist Realism is a helluva drug.
Yeah that's not a market, that's sharing with your family
@@jredmaneeh, certain family members naturally get more

Monkeys and crows use tools also, it's not confined to humans. Surprised by that error from a university.

He didn't say that only humans use tools. He said that ants have specialized workers with specialized body parts, instead of tools. 🤷♂
Ant can't see us..if you wonder why we can't see God..ant probably can see God..
Wacky boring
Just admit you didn't understand and move along.
