RyanLeeProductions Crazy how you always hear ether in diesels is bad, and here you have a high dollar fully built race engine getting it just pored to it with no problem
Lowered compression engine paired with a very high flowing sigma style injection pump, pump delivers so much fuel in such a short window engine has a hard time warming up. Ether helps get heat in the cylinders to properly burn the fuel. Look up any tractor puller startup they'll use large amounts of ether to get running.
mattybeatzkidd that is normal for there to be a big power difference like that between chassis and engine dyno results. With an engine dyno, there is no parasitic drivetrain losses because the power doesn't have to travel through a transmission, driveshaft, and the rear axle to reach the ground. Hope that makes sense.
It doesn't take 1200hp to turn a drivetrain, couple hundred tops. The more important thing is chassis dynos are bullshit numbers based off of nonsense. Chassis dynos are a tuning tool, nothing more, only good for comparing run #1 to run #2 for the same car, on the same day with the same environmentals. You run the same car/truck on 3 different dynos you will have wildly different numbers.
A chassis dyno works alot different than a engine dyno, engine dynos are able to absorb more load. Chassis dyno like here can't load the engine enough to fully get the turbos in there peak power level. This is why the brakes were basically on fire after the run. Lavon was trying to use the trucks brakes to help aid in loading the engine to get peak power out of the turbos.
gotta love the big guy eating the porter house lmao
Looks like a great group of guys there
What’s the deal with all the starting fluid ? To help light the turbos ?
Ethan Kirk I believe it's ether being used to warm it up.
Ethan Kirk yes the ether was used to help light those huge chargers to help reach peak power quicker. It was used as a supliment basically.

@@ethankirk3115 they aren't going for longevity.
What are they spraying in the chargers
starting fluid
Just curious, why does it take so much starting fluid to start that truck? Does it not have glow plugs?
Avalanche2 it's a combination of no glow plugs and a lower compression engine
No glow plugs? Really?
Once you get into competition engines like this, they use ether to start them.
So im confused.. if this was proven for 3500+ on a engine dyno its losing 1200+ hp on a chassis dyno???

roll that coal!! woo hoo
The starting fluid (either) breaks the top compression ring. Only idiots use either. Engines don't need either, only common sense.
Edward Hitler this is a 2500+ hp performance engine with billet engine internals made to hold 3000 hp... starting fluid won't harm anything
these forged pistons being heat cycles will wear the ring lands out and be used up long before the ether hurts them.
