These games need to be free-to-play at release, because without exception, they sell us promises, not content, seemingly as policy. I'd say invest at your own risk.
With today economic condition, EA will ask for government bailout just to survive. Seriously how the hell they screw up biggest franchise in US ? Also Square Enix should just focus on FF7 remake.
I can't believe that it takes them two months to create just one character. Especially when you realize that sucker punch released an entire multiplayer mode in a month & 1/2 for Ghost of Tsushima.
Each character in the game has complex branching skill trees and move sets, so it's not simple to do, obviously, and each have unique animations and ways they play to stand out from one another. Obviously, it takes time. And Sucker Punch didn't make an entire mode in that short a time, they developed it alongside the game so that it could be finalized for release a while after the main game was launched. That is obviously much different than what Crystal Dynamics are doing, taking each expansion at a time and then releasing it.
I don't know why everyone was so hyped for this game to begin with when I first read the description all I thought was wow that sounds fun for an old 8 hour movie license game and nothing else.

Considering the game lost 40 million dollars (after sales) in dev costs, I’m guessing people weren’t really hyped at all. To break even, most AAA companies only need to sell a few million
Yeah most of the high budget games on launch are failure. Funny trend now among developers is release undone game and fix it later. Personally i wait at least for review.
That`s probably what they are doing, except instead of no more updates, we will have half a dozen people working to maintain the game, meanwhile, the main devs are moving on to something else.

@@Dead_Hitori There's been some talk about it, but I really doubt that information.. It is dead. Every "it could have been" hopes will be pass on to the next potential Avengers games. Keep in mind that purchasing AAA title is a landmine. Not sure when will blow up.
It's just another dead live service game that a developer crapped out. I think it's clear that there was no real plans. Step 1. Make Marvel's Avengers game. Step 2. Put in lots of grind. Step 3. Tack on microtransactions Step 4. Profit
