I think it's really cool that Vale can speak Sangheili. It must be a difficult language to learn, considering it's spoken by a species that doesn't have a bottom jaw.
By the same token, Sanghelli certainly do make a lot of sounds that wouldn't be possible without a bottom jaw and a pair of lips. Hah. I don't think Bungie worth thinking about authentic phonology when they first designed them.
Honestly, Halo 5 is a LOT of fun. Gameplay is perfect and multiplayer is the best in the series. If you can look past the obvious mistakes regarding the story, this game was worth every penny. Still is.
If you need more context on Halsey, recommend you watch the Halo 4 Spartan Ops cutscenes. Also if you want some more backstory on Locke, checkout Halo:Nightfall. Hope you enjoy still.
I'm glad I'm not the only person who gets so happy to see the Chief. Like greeting an old friend. Yay, I'm glad you're able to play Halo 5! ☺️ It'll be very exciting to hear your thoughts as the game goes on. This game is definitely one of the more divisive games in the series, but I still enjoyed it when I played it! I will admit I'm sometimes conflicted on where the story goes, good and bad, but I won't spoil anything and will instead comment only on events in this episode. 😊 So right off the bat, I love the Osiris opening. I know there's a pretty big opinion that it's too MCU or whatever, but I personally think it's great to see the Spartan's having these moments. I think it makes sense the Spartan 4s would stand out in a different way to the other generations, as their origins are entirely different. It's been said a lot too, but the contrast between Osiris and Blue team showcases that perfectly! Speaking of Osiris, I love Locke too! I'm glad you're enjoying him so far also. 😄 The Blue Team level has some of my favorite moments, the hunter introduction and the atmosphere that it conveys is really well done. I love hearing the Covenant speak English again as well, they're a hoot. 🤣 Eagerly waiting for the next part! At some point, you should check out Halo Wars and Spartan Ops, even if it's just the cutscenes. I know it's already being said in the comments here but they're both really, really great stories! ☺️
Halo 5's narrative can be... is revamped, but experiencing it is crucial if you wish to dive into future installments, I believe. Many can and will state that the halo journey ends well by completing the MCC's campaigns, and I get it, but personally, after playing Infinite's campaign, I wouldn't change that experience for anything, it pulled all kind of emotional strings for me, maybe it'd do the same for you😁
Seeing you play this makes me so happy, I can’t wait for you to reach Infinite (I personally enjoyed that one a lot) I’m glad you’re also taking time in between to play them, I already said in another comment you’re the reason I started playing them and I played them in such quick succession I feel empty and I’m waiting for the next halo 😂😂
I love this!! 😂 genuinely get so happy when y'all binge the games with me! It used to take so much effort to get people to read my books and play my fav games so this is a gift!
I’m not a huge fan of the depictions of Spartans as power rangers in the Osiris intro, though I do appreciate the contrast between Spartan generations- it’s excessively showy as if Spartans have essentially Iron Man suits now- however as for Blue Team? I looooove that cutscene. It fits perfectly into Chief’s headspace following Cortana’s death. He lost so much during and after the Covenant War, but yeah, at least he still has and is with his Blue Team. He needs them now more than ever. I love that they know he isn’t okay, and aren’t leaving him alone, I love that Fred stops him to ask if he’s okay, and we the audience know he was thinking about Cortana just before this, and even though Chief nods yes I doubt Fred really believes him. But he doesn’t press him either, he goes with it and they get ready to go. Which btw is a callback to their first mission infiltrating a Covenant cruiser, the same mission they lost Sam. And yeah, personally I really like this rendition of the warthog run, used as Blue Team’s theme more-or-less
What Osiris pulls off in their intro isn’t too far off from Blue Team rescuing Halsey in The Package, or even the books. It stops feeling like power rangers imo if you consider it’s the technological leaps in MJOLNIR tech that lets Osiris koolaid man through rock and not just Osiris abusing their plot armor.

Happy to see you getting into more Halo, this one definitely needs a lot of context though. Everyone’s most likely given you the list of which ones fill those gaps, but I’ll add some extra. If you want context on Locke he’s the one giving the ONI reports in the Halo 2: Anniversary terminals and has his own movie called Halo: Nightfall. For Jul ‘Mdama, there’s the Kilo 5 book trilogy and Halo 4 Spartan ops cinematics, which also explains how Halsey is with him and how she’s one arm lighter lol, it also introduces you to Roland the AI which you saw. For my man Buck. You have the book New Blood for his Spartan 4 transformation, and for Vale from fireteam Osiris, her first appearance is in the novel Halo: Hunters in the dark. If anybody knows more, please add without giving spoilers.
Yes the character design was based on Luke Cage actor Mike Colter but I think voice actor is Ike Amadi, Mike Colter was filming something else I believe so they had to bring in someone else to do the voice acting. For understanding what happened with Halsey you should watch the Halo 4 Spartan Ops cinematics and there was a nice little treat for some of us, there was a book that Halsey put down in the first scene, I and many others that bought a certain edition of Halo Reach have this book, it's very interesting, it's essentially Halsey's notes on Spartans and other things too, if you manage to get into an easter egg room on reach, you can find this same book. I love your Halo journey most of all as it's near and dear to my heart - your Assassin's Creed journey has been enjoyable to watch too!
Love the contrast between the intro scenes for Osiris and Blue Team. Osiris, the newer Spartan IVs, is very flashy in their takedown of their enemies and uses a lot of high tech equipment. BLue Team meanwhile are older and are a bit more methodical in their takedown, using the bare minimum/the environment to take out the Covenant they come across.

My favorite story from the launch party is when Justin Beiber tried to get everyone to leave so he could play by himself, but Alan Tudyk and Nathan Fillian just ignored him.
I never played Halo 5, despite being a Halo fan from the very beginning in 2001. As a poor university student, I could never justify the expense of buying an Xbox One just for Halo 5. I've always wondered whether I'd like it regardless of public opinion. I have since watched the cutscenes and other TH-cam playthroughs, like Achievement Hunter's LASO run, but experiencing it this way, through someone going into it blind? This is the closest that I can get to seeing whether I'd have enjoyed it. Looking forward to seeing you go through this, Meg, regardless of whether you love it, hate it or end up somewhere else in that spectrum. Oh, and I know that people are harping on about this in the comments, but yes, Spartan Ops in Halo 4 add a lot of context to this game's story. I wouldn't recommend playing Spartan Ops unless you have a great deal of time on your hands and a couple of friends to play with you, but the cutscenes can be watched via the Master Chief Collection, or simply via TH-cam.
Remember that we were bombarded with commercials leading up to playing this game, we got bits of lore. Meg hasnt seen the Halo 5 ad/commercials. Her way is better tho, alot of us were already sour on the story from the ads so we came in hot into this game. Megs just coming in with an open mind unlike what most of us did.
i like the hunter forming up scene, also hunters in halo 5 are the toughest the hunter have been in the whole franchise, more like mini bosses. halo 5's story isn't really that loved by a lot of people but personally it has it's good points as does the game in general like the music. as for cortana, i do wish there was a game in-between 4 and 5 that didn't have cortana, mentions etc. sure but kinda spoils the ending of halo 4, should have let her "death" sink in for both the master chief and the players/ fans of halo.
These are spartan 4s so they aren’t like the 2s and 3s these are fully grown adults picked, chosen, and gave consent to become Spartans. 3s were like war orphaned children who also volunteered but the 4s are are 1st that are made in a morally correct fashion. Buck is your hint that these aren’t like that since you already know he wasn’t a Spartan before. As others have said playing Spartan ops will give you so much context on what’s going on I recommend playing it with a friend too! It’s a lot more fun like that Edit: also spoiler free part of why ppl hated halo 5 has a lot to do with the advertisements. I won’t go into detail but yeah the “Hunt the truth” the audio series and the rest of the ads marketed a COMPLETELY different story the campaign didn’t exactly follow the way it was marketed to. You’ll see as you play I personally don’t absolutely hate 5 I loved the MP but I was salty about how they handled the story direction especially cuz i LOVED the ads and the hunt the truth series. Like seriously the story in that series is AMAZING
No Xbox game since Halo 5 has really come as close to making a coop iron man game where I can fight against big bionicles and was really smooth with great performance and visuals. Despite the story and ai not really being anything to write home about, I still want a sequel with all of this really interesting stuff. And a complete pc port would be nice. Looking at where Destiny ended up, I think bungie would’ve probably made a similar looking and playing game all things considered. The art styles are pretty much identical and halo ended up doing it better. Bungie could learn a thing or two from this.
The top three comments kind of explain my main problem with this game in a nutshell lol. "Spartan Ops explains this". "This book explains that." "Oh the main character yeah theres like a movie that he was introduced in."
I think you can really only appreciate Halo 5 if you recognize well designed gameplay and really develop your skills in it. It's the smoothest, fastest, deepest game in the series and I feel more like a Spartan super soldier in it than in any other game
Cool thing about the opening of this game is 343 are showing you what you can do in the game, especially once you master the new abilities. This game, and Halo 4 is the first time that you really fight like the Spartans are described in the books. It a shame people keep missing the point of this game. As an og fan of Halo from the beginning I'm not afraid to say this game and Halo 4 are right there with the best of this series. Glad you get to experience it for yourself.😊
Just the face model, they had Mike Colter do the voice but they weren't happy with it so they got a guy named Ikechukwu Prince Amadi to do it instead since he's an actual voice actor. He's also done some mortal kombat characters
I just replayed all Halos and Halo 5 was solid, we treated it so bad. Ofc it has its flaws and one of them being have to play almost all the campaign with Osiris aand the misleading marketing. But it was fun!
YES! I'm glad you're enjoying my favorite Halo. It gets a lot of flack because Master Chief shares the spotlight with Locke (and all must bow down to Master Chief for some reason) and because Locke is black. (TBF, the gaming industry hasn't really changed *cough* Assassin's Creed *cough*) But I knew you'd come into it with an open mind :). Enjoy Halo 5! Oh BTW, did you have any plans on streaming Zau?
@@grimlord3181 eh I can't go deep into this without spoilers but the marketing wasn't as misleading as some say it was. It's a distant 4th in comparison to the points I highlighted.
Yeah, the Spartan AI is pretty dreadful at times, as you can see with Fred running into a wall. And yes, the cutscenes aren’t well written, as you can see with it just fading to black after Roland’s rant. So enjoy! 😅
You should do a vid watching the marketing/commercials for this game. The contrast of the marketing vs the gameplay/storyline is interesting to say the least.

I think you can really only appreciate Halo 5 if you recognize well designed gameplay and really develop your skills in it. It's the smoothest, fastest, deepest game in the series and I feel more like a Spartan super soldier in it than in any other game
I'm so excited for this!!!
Also this game looks stunning on Series X.
Since you made a reference to javik from mass effect I wanted to tell you that Locke and javik have the same voice actor lol
I think you're going to really enjoy this one! Glad you're going in with an open mind 😊
@dandanthefireman1006 what i said was based entirely off her reaction. She likes it so far. how about we instead let people enjoy things they like?
Well, this is unexpected… I look forward to seeing what you think of it!
also meg at the end you shouldnt stop 1:26:31 talking i always like hearing what you thought about the missions and ur thoughts on the story so far
This is the first halo game I ever played. It was fun when the servers were still alive
Servers are pretty well off still I think.
Can still find matches in most playlists
i love that the comments confirm how much homework does this game expects you to do to understand the context of its story
Yes Meg, Lock is play by Luke Cage.
Can't wait to watch these later, one step closer to halo infinite
When you finish the series you should check out,
The Complete Story, Timeline and Lore of Halo, through Infinite by diehardGG
Idc what people say H5s campaign was my favorite, reach being a close second.
32:45 You know who else was blue 😢
saying halo 5 is heated opinionted is funny considering thats what i heard with halo 4 back when it was new
They both are
@@solidbhattHalo infinite is getting more back last then halo 4 and 5 combined lol
13:14 No me imagino el dolor q debió sentir ese prometeo 🥚🥚
Also the misleading marketing.
@@grimlord3181 eh I can't go deep into this without spoilers but the marketing wasn't as misleading as some say it was. It's a distant 4th in comparison to the points I highlighted.
Whooot! That was super generous of them, thank you so much! And it's so nice to see Meg get to play 5 now~
ahh yes halo 5 the game that should've been extended instead of infinite coming into existence
Yeah, the Spartan AI is pretty dreadful at times, as you can see with Fred running into a wall. And yes, the cutscenes aren’t well written, as you can see with it just fading to black after Roland’s rant. So enjoy! 😅
33:35 classic blue team
FINALLY!!
having aim down sight in halo is odd. they go back on that.
Fun halo i didnt have any issues but i did understand the hate but the gameplay was good
Fred the rebel hahahaha
You should do a vid watching the marketing/commercials for this game. The contrast of the marketing vs the gameplay/storyline is interesting to say the least.
yayyy you were able to get an xbox
I know it's premature to say this... But I can't wait for you to play Infinite!
Would have been even more smooth on a Series X
Yeah for sure halo 5 was really hated. But man did I love this game oh how I miss it dearly. Unfortunate it didn't make it to MCC.
hi Meg
This looked better than halo infinite
Hi Meg hope you are having an great and awesome day ❤
Yeees!! ❤
I will have a lot to say about this game when you get to the end.
