@@NotNuffKnives I have both of them knifes and I do like them . But their is one thing that I do not like abou.t them is when you carry the knife on your side is the knife handle rides to hight on your side . I tried putting I on a boot and the sheath comes off of the boot when you pull the knife from the sheath. So I'm trying to see how I'm going to carry it like I said I do like these knifes.

I bought the black-orange-woodgrain model last week and the black rubberized model this week. Both are amazing little knives that feel perfect in your hand. The rubberized one has just a slightly better feel to the grip. The black-orange woodgrain model is very eyecatching. I thought it was real wood until i opened the package. These are incredible knives for five bucks! I do not know how WalMart can do it. All of the Ozark Trail knives are very good quality for the money, and these are two of the best. The only odd thing about them is that I had to switch sheaths. Although they look identical, the sheath the black rubberized grip knife came with was too tight for the knife. It took way too much force to remove it from the sheath. I switched it out with the sheath from the multi-colored knife and now both are a perfect fit. I have seen little Chinese-made backpacker knives like these of similar quality going for 3-5 times as much on eBay. I think I am going to buy at least one more of each and also look for the ball-bearing tan folder someone else mentioned in the comments.

I literally told myself I had all the knives I needed and usually when I go to Walmart or Cabela's I either don't see something that catches my eye or cost more than I'm willing to pay for it.
I just bought these two knives last night at Walmart, after passing up the other folder knife offerings, and went straight to TH-cam and found your video! (Thank you for making it. I must've watched your video like 5 times now!)
The "wood" handle is reinforced polypropylene (a type of plastic). I'm really digging the rubberized handled one though, and it will be my first edc fixed blade. I'll probably go back today to buy one more of the black ones and keep it as a back up. Hopefully they'll sell out of them before I pick another one up each time I go to Walmart. I mean, $4.87! SOLID KNIVES, and that rubber grip and weight just feels good in the hand.

Cutting TOWARD your wrist is an interesting choice.
LOL... Couldn’t resist. Sarcasm is my Native tongue. At least you didn’t actually cut yourself. Unfortunately, I can’t say the same about myself. Let’s see.... I’ve dropped a Bowie onto my right foot, impaling my big toe. Stabbed, TO THE BONE, my left index finger while making a Dakota fire pit. And split the tip of my left ring finger open, severely enough that the meat of the finger was literally hanging off, because I decided it would be a good idea to carry my hunting knife under my belt, WITHOUT A SHEATH, then accidentally grabbed the blade, instead of the handle.
    SO.... yeah... lol

    It's probably 3cr13mov or at best 5cr15mov.
The carbides are miles apart from each other in different zip codes😉.
The only benefit of 3cr13mov is it can probably be sharpened on a styrofoam cooler lid in 2 or 3 passes 😁.
If it can cut a stick of butter into thirds without being sharpened it's 3cr13mov. If it can cut a stick of butter into fifths without sharpening it's 5cr15mov😂.
And it's not even like I'm a blade steel snob or anyting, all my folding knives and fixed blades are in Budget Steels, such as 440C, 420HC, AUS 8, 9cr18MoV, D2, 12C27, 1066 or 1095.
However for $4 or $5 each you can't really go wrong for those knives👍. And you can learn how to sharpen, because God knows you'll be doing it quite often 😂.
if I see these in my local Walmart I'll probably grab two or three for my tackle boxes / glove box just in case I don't have my primary blade on me for some weird reason.
Thanks for the heads up/video✌my friend.

I stumbled across these today and bought one. After opening the package and judging the feel I went back in and bought 4. I located your video tonight. Over the years, I've gone from using expensive knives to using camillus and ozark trail because they're dispensable and I am at times hard on a knife. I honestly believe I like the feel and balance of this knife more than any I own... and I own a few. Thanks for the review. what's your opinion after some time? I'll check your videos. I've subscribed.

Randy, thank you so much for your support and for reviewing the video. Let me know how one of these hold up after some tests. Mine are sitting in the knife bag right now but as soon as the weather clears up a little, I’m gonna go outside and prepare some firewood from some pruning last summer, and going to see how they do. Don’t be a stranger!

I have now bought 3 of these knives. The simulated wood handle, rubberized handle, and black textured handle. The polished blades seemed to have a sharper blade and sharpen easier than the black stone washed blade of the rubberized grip knife. The simulated wood and textured gripped knives are a little thicker steel than the original rubberized grip. The textured handle knife is also partially serrated. My only complaint is the textured grip is abrasive against bare skin , so I will be sanding the grips slightly to smooth down a little bit. Seem to all be pretty good blades especially for about 5 bucks . Really like the sim. Wood and textured handled the most. Can't go wrong with them at all.

I haven't seen the rubberized style yet. Is it a 2021 variation?

    • @jsnlyoung
      @jsnlyoung 2 ปีที่แล้ว

@@NotNuffKnives the one I'm talking about is the one you featured, with the stone washed blade. I have only seen the simulated wood gripped and the textured serrated out for this Christmas season. I bought another serrated because I already misplaced the other one when I was going to smooth down the grip. The new one has a less aggressive texture and was more comfortable to carry than my first one. Look for the serrated blade one if you haven't got it yet. It may be new for 2021. They also have a red gripped knife like the stone washed black handle, but with the polished blade.

Funny thing I went to check for reviews on this knife (I bought the black one) and was half expecting a bad one. I've NEVER had ANY problems with ozark trail brand ANYTHING (except shoes) since discovering the brand I tried it out expecting very little for the price. I STILL have my first ever ozark trail knife (was one of the $3 folders) in perfect working condition. Also HIGHLY recommend the $30 camp set. The machete is AMAZING in that. It's like Ozark trail has prices you'd expect to be like "good if this one breaks I can replace it" then you realize how durable they are and you probably won't have to replace them

      Quick illustration for you bro
3cr13 steel= great kitchen knife steel holds up under regular use but lacks edge retention for like chopping branches an what not
I prefer 7cr17 because in my experience it holds a better edge than 3cr13 .
I JUST came across this steel at menards and didn't know it even existed but they had a folder there that is 2cr13 steel an I'd personally say it's hardness is right up there with Aus8 .
But I believe this knife your reviewing is 3cr13 bro

It's also about 1/4" longer than these. Sold RIGHT WITH them in the store same price just looks like an upgraded model. I got the one with serrations, plain metal finish, and black scales. • @NotNuffKnives

I personally think it's a decent sheath vs the old nylon snap strap style. This one allows you to draw the knife faster with one hand and a single action. Is only tip-down carry, but for a $5 it's a great improvement over the older style. Try to see if you can get used to it!
