From all the videos I have watched, his reactions to this Iranian food seem most genuine and intrigued. Not too over the top and excessive. Seemed to really enjoy all the food, more than I've ever seen before. Great video.
Oh today, watching the entire video from the caviar tasting to sturgeon kebab party---I want to be in the Caspian Sea---it gives me more meaning and respect to the Iranian caviar. My mouth has been salivating since for this authentic Caspian caviar experience. Thanks for sharing this video, Mark. I'm a new subscriber! God bless and more power to your show ❤️ from the Philippines 🇵🇭!
Oh I feel so very privileged to say that I lived there and experienced all of that too! I wrote on another video when a lady from Rasht gave Mark a plate she had made herself. My husband was a Textile engineer for one of the biggest textile machinery companies in the world Mackies in Belfast. He traveled all over the middle east erecting mill machinery, he was away from home for months on end. Rasht was his first job away from home and our daughter and I went with him. We lived on the mill compound, there were six bungalows built there for the managers and their families when the mill became a running mill. Until then the engineers lived in them, I was the only wife there. I was 21 years old. I got Sturgeon from the Bazaar and it was one of our favourite fish foods. Only one big back bone, no tiny little bones all through it like some fish, just two big fleshy fish steaks when you took out the big back bone. We also went with a lot of friends and Iranian friends to a hotel on the Caspian sea for lunch, that was where I had my first ever Caviar, and it was amazing. Engineers and their wives from all over Europe met at a place called "Pahlavi beach', a tourist beach. We met up each Friday and lay on those sands, and bathed in the warm waters of the Caspian. Yes Mark, you were there when it was cold, I remember snow drifts up the side of my house in the January/February. But then it got hot, very, very hot and humid, and the Caspian sea was so warm it was like a warm bath to get into. Coming from Belfast, Northern Ireland, it was my first ever experience of warm water at a beach. Our beautiful beaches in Portrush and Portstewart never get hot water, in fact it is freezing any time of the year. As we were there in 1974, some 46 years ago I don't remember the bread shops being like that. The ones I remember, the bread was all made by hand and thrown against the inside wall of a Tandoori oven then hooked out. The long bread you have we called Nan, and my favorite was the Lavash, but as I say it was not automated, so it was a big round which was folded into four coming out of the oven, it was wrapped in Iranian Newspaper. We used to buy a Lavash and a Nan for home, and one to eat in the car on the way home. It was like fine layers that you could pull apart, oh yum. Every morning one of the guards brought us our fresh Nan wrapped up in newspaper at 5.30am, this type of bread must be eaten fresh as it doesn't keep. We ate the Nan with unsalted butter, another new thing for me then as us Northern Irish love our salted butter on fresh bread, but it had it's own individuality and I enjoyed it. One of the workers in the mill could get Beluga Caviar on the black market (Shhhhh) and we used to buy a big tin for a very reasonable price, as our money compared to the Rial had a very good exchange rate. It had a big, thick elastic band around it. We ate it for breakfast on toasted Nan, even our two year old daughter loved it. I can't believe I did that, did not have a clue how much money I was eating!!!! The mill my husband was building the machinery for was called Iran Kanaf, just outside Rasht, and I can still see it on Google earth. He went on to erect more mill machinery in a mill called Kanaf Kar, not far from the first one, but our daughter and I came home as she had to start school. On his last trip to Iran in 1979 when it was getting very troubled, he brought home on the plane 4 tins of Beluga Caviar, which he asked the air stewardess to put into the fridge for him, he was so excited to get home after months and months of being away, he forgot to get the 4 tins out of the fridge, so I am sure someone had a wonderful time enjoying all that beautiful caviar, he wanted all the family to try it, sadly it was not to be. Now living in Australia, because of our multi-cultural society we can buy most anything to cook, and can get Lavash and Nan in the supermarket when we want to make an Iranian dish. I still make Tah-dig, the rice done with potatoes on the bottom and done till crispy. May God Bless all the people of Iran, they were very friendly, hospitable people, who have came through a lot of fear and turmoil. We have two Iranian friends here, and would you believe my own doctor is from Isfahan, but has just retired. For years I didn't know he was Iranian, then someone told me that his brother, him and their families all came here years ago after the uprising. The next time I went to his surgery I greeted him in Farsi, he just looked at me with a big grin, you can imagine what he thought, 'here is an Irish woman in Australia talking Farsi to me!" lol For a while, Rasht was my home and I thank Mark Wiens for bringing lots of wonderful memories back. I look forward to watching more of your videos. Love and blessings xxx Doreen

Mark, Been watching you since I saw your vlog where, in Iran, you bought the meat. Then, you walked it across the street with your homie, that jolly fellow, to be cooked and served. My biggest impression from the vlog I watched today about the sturgeon is: Wow. When I look at some of the foods, they seem like country cooking to me. Standing out in my mind, though, is the familiar way the folks all interact with you. Food is center stage, on the surface. Just inside, what resonates with me the most is the way strangers seem like family everywhere you go. I have you to thank for the insight. Thank you. I believe you to be sincere, and I always smile and laugh as you experience all the flavors. It's fun for me because you have such good manners, to guess if you truly liked it. As much as I enjoyed watching you and your friends eat the caviar. I must remind you all that the Beluga Sturgeon is a critically Endangered species, which we could loose in the very near future. Mark please promote and educate the viewers as well as the farmers about the importance of these species. We need sustainable farming, not profitable at an entire species cost. Peace 😁
How are they going to breed more of the fish? Canada is trying to do sustainable farming with Canadian species of salmon and school age kids are educated on salmon eggs, raising fry and release them.
Thank you Abdul, I fully agree with you. This was a farm raised Sturgeon. And for me, also the important thing is that the entire sturgeon was used, not only the eggs, but the all the meat was consumed. Thank you🙏
Unbelievable content Mark! My 4 year old daughter loves to watch your videos with me, doesn't get any better than this! Keep up the great work brother, best TH-cam channel by far, keep enjoying yourself and continue with the phenomenal content
Oh lord. That caviar and the fish in the beginning was awesome. Cool! My dad is Iranian! I remember learning about it when i was a kid, about Iranian caviar and how people appreciated it. Awesome! 😎😄☺️🥂
I found them to be very sloppy with their cleaning process, I mean the bowl it was in was too small, and then when he was adding the water and cutting it up then separating the eggs, my jaw dropped watching how sloppy he was and how many eggs were being wasted because he was so sloppy. Unbelievable how careless they were.

Jacqueline Speed come mate. Waiting for you. Welcome🙏❤️🌸
A. Sayied - you can stop yourself. Corona virus is everywhere - if I'm going down it's on holiday with a mouthful of caviar
You are welcome Jacqueline. Iran is as safe as any other country. Definitely way safer than Iraq or Lebanon.
Peace 😁
no more fish they eat the egg
@@messymissygaming4686 yeah but in order to eat the caviar you have to kill the fish 🤦🏻♀️
Get a life.
Thank you🙏
Iranians seems like really nice people. Love from America.

*looks at beads falling off tray and onto countertop unforgotten
If theyre unforgotten then he was right 😅
Jk ik what you mean, he acts like he's gathering mars soil samples
I found them to be very sloppy with their cleaning process, I mean the bowl it was in was too small, and then when he was adding the water and cutting it up then separating the eggs, my jaw dropped watching how sloppy he was and how many eggs were being wasted because he was so sloppy. Unbelievable how careless they were.
In a bakery and looking at the bread makes me so hungry for fresh bread I love bread and everything that y'all are eating looks so delicious yum yummy
