I have that exact lock on a safe. After several years I lost the paperwork on how to do battery replacement, and the battery went dead.. You saved the day !! Many thanks to you, sir!!
Thank you so much. Didn't know what to do when safe wouldn't open. Your video was wonderful to help me find out how to open the battery compartment. Seems the old battery still had enough life to beep, but not enough to disengage the locking mechanism. Thanks!!!
Excellent vid Dean. Very clear concise and to the point. Neither too hurried or too slow. I needed a refresher. I was forgetting one step and thought I had a bad lock. Thank You
I really appreciate hearing good words reference this lock. IM a new safe owner, and my safe has this type lock. I was sceptical and still am a little over electronics verses a dial or key, but knock on wood maybe this will give me years of great service. Thumbs up video!
Thank you so much!!! I thought our lock had died...the store where I bought it no longer carries safes and I was about to call a locksmith...but I watched your video, changed the battery and...VOILA! It works!
THANK YOU for this video; I have been trying for a long time to find any information about this lock, which came on a second-hand safe I bought. Even the safe manufacturer had no info. The battery finally died after many years, and now I finally know how to change it.
Thanks!!! I got a nice patriot gun safe today with the LG lock.My father blurts out the combination to everyone in the room????Anyway's the instructions in the cannon book where way wrong. This video helped me changed the lock combination. Thanks again so much. It's a cool little lock!!!!
Simply excellent. Thanks. I just got a safe from someone. It has this lock but no manual. Now I don't need one because you took the time to help. THANKS!
Thank you for the info!!! I was trying to figure out how to change the combination for a few months now and after watching you channel I was able to do it myself!! :)
I suggest avoiding duracell and stick with energizer. Most people I have talked to, and certainly myself, have had many devices ruined by leaking duracells. Great video and it gives me a little more confidence on this lock that's on my safe but I really want to replace it with a dial. Is it the same size as S&G mechanicals?
@WunHunDread For the LG Basic there is only 1 Manager combination(123456 by default) and 1 User combination that can be added by said manager. Both combinations are changed the same way for the LG Basic(Six Zero's -> Old -> New x2).
is this procedure the same for "master code/ user code" situations? i thought i read somewhere about holding down the last # in the master code i believe, could you clarify? much appreciated
There are two main reasons to go with a digital lock. If you have this safe in say your bedroom and need to access it quickly because of an intruder....OR if you have to go in and out numerous times as the dial will drive you nuts.... There are some combo safes on the market that offer the best of both worlds but they come with a cost.
We bought a house that has a safe with this keypad. However, it is locked and the previous owner doesn't know the combination or have the paperwork for the safe. We live in a rural area and locksmiths are a very pricey option. We have called, emailed, and tried to live chat with AMSEC,and get no response at all. Is there anything else we can try?
cant help but notice how you can remove the panel. If I do that and have another. cant I just cut the wires and replace it with a panel I already have a code to and open the safe??
Good qustion, Think of if as moving your computer keyboard to someone else's computer to bypass there password, I just won't work. Or another way to look at it is, all the brains are inside the safe. Thanks for watching, John
I am having a problem with opening my safe. I am getting the three beeps on entering the code, and I am unable to unlock my safe. It has not been changed by me. Any thoughts before I contact my local dealer?
We had a new LG safe electronic keypad installed years ago. I didn't even know it was battery operated. I guess I forgot. My code didn't work and there were no beeping sounds at all when punching in the code so I figured the whole keypad needed to be replaced. I watched your video and was able to change the 9 volt battery inside. However, the new battery wasn't working. I moved the wires around on the back of the keypad and it works better now. But I feel like the keypad may still need to be replaced because the red light is still flashing and it appears unstable. Isn't it supposed to be a green light if it is in working condition? Is it possible that my keypad needs to be replaced? I shouldn't have to move the wires around to get the battery to work, right?
Is there anyone I can contact to help me reset the passcode with the door being closed and not knowing the existing code? I purchase storage units and have 2 safes that I am not able to get into. I have called liberty lock and key and they wanted to charge me almost $200 just to reset the passcode.
+Casey Vandervalk Call the safe manufacturer and ask them if they haven't override code. You will need to jump through some hoops to get it, but it's quicker and cheaper than drilling most safes. Hope this helps you,
Dean I have a LG safe serial no 7518 that is open position with bolts locked, So door is open. Me and my father was in car accident and he was killed and only he knew the combo. The safe door is open and it needs a new battery But I do not know the combo only my father did. How do I creat a new combo with out knowing the last Passcode? Please assist? tHANK YOU.
Worry not, most safe manufactures maintain override codes for Elocks and combos for dials. They are very difficulty to get but it's cheaper than drilling. thanks for watching, John
I changed the battery on my safe and now the combo will not work what do I do I cannot open the safe I'm 100% positive the combo is right it is the same lock in this video
First, make sure it’s a Duracell copper top with an expiration date four years in the future or longer. 2. Check the battery wires for breakage. 3. On that lock if it’s the wrong code, it beeps 3 times, but only twice if it’s the right code. If it‘s the right code (2 beeps) and its not opening 95% of the time it’s the battery. Hope this helps, John
@@DeanSafe We're having the same problem. If you've put in a number, but not the whole combo, how long does it remember that wrong number? And ours beeps twice for all combos but doesn't open. It might not be exactly the same as in the video, but it's close (it's gold colored).
Check with the store you got the safe at, they can get a one time override code, You will need to jump through a lot hoops. but its cheaper than paying to have it drilled open. hope this helps, John

Very helpful, thanks for posting. FWIW I would always change the battery with the door open, so if any problems occur I'm not locked out
Thanks for that comment at 2:30 thru 3:00 .. I keep getting the same inquiry "... just have a keypad handy.." NOT!
