Thank you so much! In half an hour you showed me everything about Avenger. Avenger is an incredible synthesizer and has a great sound.I have Pigments, and in Pigments I can't create such fat sounds as Avenger, although the settings are almost the same.Avenger is very intuitive, I can see all the actions I have done with modulations or changes. Many good synthesizers don't have this feature, and have to memorize where which modulation is attached to what. Avenger's pop-ups are very convenient and not annoying. I am sure it will become my best synthesizer.
Hi Reaper. I have a few questions if you don't mind. 1. In your opinion, what are the minimum CPU, RAM, and storage requirements to use all the capabilities of this synth? 2. Does this synth work with the new Apple M1 chip that's in the latest MacBooks & iMac? 3. I may be interested in using this synth in live performances. Is there a song mode, or a way of switching between presets (intro, verse, chorus, etc) Thanks!
What a great review!! And I totally agree, the power and options in this is mind numbing. My favorite things about this tool is the arp and sequencers (drums and synth). Just unbelievable quality. This synth is kind of strange because on the one hand it's kind of good but on the other hand it's bad at the same time. Although the regular price is EUR 199,- there are a lot of second hand offers and the sellers won't be able to get rid of it for even EUR 99,- (the seller has to additionally pay EUR 35,- transfer fee, so he won't be even getting EUR 65,- total!). Yes, VPS Avenger is a strange case, some people think is good, but looking through the many forums and review sites, a not so favorable image emerges. Sadly, I didn’t make all this research until after I had made the mistake of buying it. First, I concluded that most if not all of the positive reviews are made by TH-camrs who might be more interested in clicks for their affiliate links; or others such as in this case who are looking to sell online courses. I’ll tell you the huge problem affecting VPSAvenger, and is a fact well concealed by everyone reviewing it, you didn’t hear it on this video or anywhere else, and most people don’t discover it after they start using it. I became aware during the first five minutes after installation. The problem has a name and the name is: CodeMeter. In order for VPS Avenger to run in your computer the CodeMeter app needs to be running in your system as an anti-piracy measure. CodeMeter takes up residence in your System Preferences pane and runs continuously, even when you are not using Avenger. Read the CodeMeter Users Agreement, look at your System Preferences pane, look at your Activity Monitor. It’s terrifying. People got to be nuts to install this spy-ware in their systems. On top of that, with my system running Mac OS Catalina 10.15.5 and Logic Pro X 10.5.0, I was getting all kinds of warnings and notifications to contact the VPS Avenger developer to solve the problem, but it was never solved. In conclusion: Yes, a whole lot of people are trying to resale it. and Yes, VPSAvenger is way over-priced. The graphic design is not HD, the factory presets are ancient and the expansion preset packs are too expensive. Also, be careful with the VPS Avenger so-called technical support, they will offer laughable advise such as “Use Google Chrome” or “Yes, we strongly recommend against doing that, but go ahead and do that.” Also, they will either ignore you or actually block you. For me, it was a $199.00 USD mistake, which I think I’ll never recover.
Its a Vengence Sound product. All their stuff is pretty expensive. Tho it works and Vengeance Sound has made some of the worlds most popular soundpacks; Vengeance Essential Clubsounds 1-5.
To the question of Should I buy it? I would answer: Most definitely NOT! VPS Avenger has morphed into a useless over-designed synth wanna be. Very low definition GUI, ancient factory presets, loaded with duplicate inferior modules such as step sequencer, mixer and arp, easily surpassed in functionality by the ones you already find on your DAW. Plus, it NEVER works consistently. Don't be mislead by the youtubers reviewing a demo version of the synth, it's a whole lot different than a fully licensed version. And worse, these reviewers never tell you that in order to use Avenger, you need to be running the CodeMeter app, a real source of constant headaches. Do yourself a favor and don't come anywhere close to VPS Avenger.
