Transducers will shoot through the hull without issue and will work perfectly. There’s no need to mount it on the outside of the ski. It works with Garmin and Lowrance.
I’ve been watching a heap of videos regarding sounder installs. The general consensus is to run the transducer cable down the other side of the ski away from electrical interference. I honestly don’t know if this is correct or not but seems to make sense.
Thank you very much for your video very informative I really appreciate it I got one that doesn't have anything on it at all so I've got to have something so I can see what I'm doing and going fishing
I was thinking of running the sounder cable trough the drain plug. noticed amazon sells drain plugs you can drill out the centre easily. obviously this means you have to chop the harness about a metre in so you can feed the cable trough the tiny hole in the drain plug. i would rather have to put water proof jell connectors on the harness than drilling in a jet ski that can cost over $30K. You could always put back the original drain plug when your not using your sounder. Thoughts??
Hey since doing this video, i have learnt that Garmin do a much better through hull transducer than Lowrance for jet skis. Can look at that option too. We will be going that option on our next ski. Just with this ski we were supported by lowrance to put their sounder on.
You generally get a lot better results and less interference installing it on the transom, however it is exposed there and can get damaged a lot easier. Catch 22
I am a user who rides Yamaha FX in Korea. You'll find Sona installation tips and watch the video on Google. I really like the idea of making a sonar and installing it. I have a question, what is the name of the cover (search word) that I put on top of the Sonajeon silicone waterproofing operation?
Umm he did ..... if your talking about the bottom of the ski you would never drill a hole there. Maybe you are saying why not install on the inside of the hull not really sure ??

Why not glue the transducer on the inside of the hull - have seen an example of this from another tuber?

Lot to be said for hole saws...
Why not go through the hull instead of drilling holes ?
