Well Finger Poke of Doom was an angle to build the nWo as a heel group to take on Goldberg. Which is pretty bad in its own right seeing nWo had lost its legs a year earlier. But, ok I guess we're trying, what made it worse was Goldberg got hurt and was out for 8 months and the entire deal was dead right there.
So the FPOD in hindsight turned out to be complete shit, but only through forces out of their control...namely Goldberg dropping the lead pipe he was supposed to use to bust out a limousine window, and so he improvised and used his own arm.

Can we please stop pretending everything AEW does is great and just accept that they have a lot of crappy matches with stupid psychology and a bunch of people who shouldn't be in the ring?
Everybody who criticizes them gets a ton of hate but I don't think those people realize that people like me want AEW to be good. We want it be not just an alternative to the WWE but a better alternative. Right now they're going down the same Primrose path to ruin that TNA went down, and the guys running the show over there need to smarten up and learn from the mistakes of the past before somebody pulls the plug. Do more of the matches that feature future stars feuding with each other and less matches featuring human waterbeds and human toothpicks bashing each other over the head with crap and doing a bunch of Comedy spots. Some comedy in wrestling is fine but why not keep it to the back stage segments like a WWE and WCW used to do? Have a contest in the ring, not a side show.

I couldn't agree more, about Jim's idea for Jungle Boy. They've got a very special talent that they could build up and the way they're presenting him by just throwing him into the mix - is no different than how WWE's presented any of their recent NXT call-ups.
I WANT AEW to be successful, but they're making the wrong steps like so much 'Pathfinder' from "The Price Is Right".

You can just smell the disappointment Jim had when he realized a hadoken spot was called during that Lucha match. That's goes to show you how old school Jim is. I admit when i saw that match, I was just facepalming when it happened. There is a reason why gaming and wrestling are two separate things and there you go.

Sheldon Armstrong I think wrestling wise Kenny is good, but I strongly dislike his mic skills, especially when he starts doing that over exaggerated / exhausted voice.
I think Kenny was best in Bullet Club when he had the Heel attitude, he was less of a dim wit. Most notably when Marty joined BC and Adam Cole was fired.

Cornette is dead on about Mark Quinn. Also Jim’s love & admiration for MJF makes my soul happy.... Corny please keep watching AEW ppv’s and reviewing them! It’s awesome!
I haven’t watched an AEW event yet, but man, have I listened and laughed at Cornette’s reviews of them!
I remember reading that the elite guys all kind of collaborate on the storylines and creative decision making, and they strike a balance because some of them have a more “modern” take on what wrestling should be, and others a more “traditional” perspective. Which it doesn’t take much effort to read that as Cody being traditional, Omega and the Bucks being “modern”.
For AEW’s sake, they should let Cody take the lead on creative and storylines. The comedy, dorky, cosplay, niche, inside joke stuff we’ve seen from AEW so far has ranged from falling flat or going over casual fans heads, to being outright stupid.

Wrestling predominantly is supposed to simulate combat and half the time it doesn’t. I understand they have Lucha libre style which is fair enough but there has to be a limit. Wrestling today has gone too far into gymnastics style and synchronised movements.
Of course there has to be a kind of hybrid but psychology and ring craft in realism terms is almost a lost art.

Have two of my friends as wrestling fans. They just watch WWE as I have more knowledge of Indy’s and Japanese wrestling. They watched Fyter Fest with me and while they enjoyed the show as a whole, they laughed and mocked all the same stuff that Cornette is talking about so he’s not entirely wrong about the show and made some great points on how to improve their shows

I 100% agree with Jim about the Darby Allen bump and the chair shot. It wasn't a dangerous chair shot, and it was an extremely dangerous bump.
Everyone was losing their shit over the chair shot, but it didn't look that bad to me. The blood made it look bad, but I've seen tons of stiffer shots then that.
not to mention that every single person crying about it has no idea that it was actually one of the safest chair shots that can be thrown. I'll spoil the secrets Jim won't, if you watch the angle Spears swung at he actually hits Cody in the shoulder with the bottom side of the chair as he is turning it in for the head shot. which breaks the speed but still allows for impact with sound... the gigging that the bucks were talking about only makes it so having that speed negated doesnt make the chair look like there wasnt any impact...
This is the annoying thing about having "smart" fans... they arent actually as smart as they think they are, but they know enough to over complicate everything.
The Cortege exactly - modern wrestlers are so afraid of being tied to their on-screen persona that they need to run and reveal shit to the fans. They could have acted pissed at Spears for giving Cody such a devastating chair shot and built this up even more instead of telling the audience to calm down because God forbid they feel a real emotion in 2019 lol

Let Cody and Dustin call the match. Keep the Young Bucks grounded as much as possible, and only use a few well timed gymnastics spots. That'll be the best way to have a good Young Bucks match with actual story telling and selling.

considering this was not a "ppv" but a video game convention.....which actually a glorified house show. there isn't anything to worry about here. what i learned from this live event was that: 1) let the PROFESSIONALS do whatever the hell they want 2) never put any of the PC SJW pandering crap on the main show. 3) sign more japanese and mexican talent.

Agreed. Cody's matches have been some of the brightest spots of the AEW events this far.
The last part of the trainwreck stuff was magical. The way Cornette weaved his words and floated in the expletives was a work of magic.
1. Get Omega and the Young Bucks out of the office. The three of them have proven they have no intention of being successful. Unless you indie fans think losing your spot on TNT before the contract is up is successful...
2. Keep all microphones away from Omega. Also, if he keeps underperforming, put his ass to the mid card. He has not been close (in ring) to what he showed in Japan.
3. Inform the Young Bucks that if they don't learn psychology or how to sell, they're fired.
4. Fire everyone from the second and third matches of the pre show.
5. Stop screwing up the booking of the female wrestlers. Looks like a lot of talent going to waste.
I desperately want AEW to succeed. I'm not an authority (like several internet heroes posting here think they are); just a list of things I think would help. WCW died for better shot than this.
Ah well you're obviously a brilliant million dollar wrestling promotor so they'll probably listen to you.

What Omega did for his Entrance is called a Raging Demon. It's the Finisher of Akuma. (The character he half heartedly cosplayed as.) The Raging Demon is really done in darkness with only the sound of the attacks and flashes for the hits. If it's done as the final attack, the screen will show the Japanese character that was on Omega's back.
The Street Fighter stuff was good because it was done for the right crowd. (Fighting Game Community members and people who attended the Fighting Game Tournament CEO.) Had this been done outside of that, it would have been dumb.
I am listening. 1.03.00 or so. Have i heard about 2 power moves. Both get kicked put of. 2 matches in a row. Protect the finishing move or make it actual fighting.

I think AEW listened to Jim's DoN review because a lot of the issues he raised were improved upon with Fyter Fest. One thing I really noticed is they really explained who each character was and why we should give a shit about the match.

As much as I enjoyed the show (mostly), this was really what I was waiting for! And Jim is 100% correct about Nyla Rose (except that he clearly doesn't know she is a trans woman). They have completely screwed up booking this BEAST. She was selling dainty slaps that couldn't knock over a flower vase. It was awful.
