    I really love this. In a world of overbuilt, over complicated overland setups, this is a breath of fresh air. Simple and functional. The fact that you guys live out of this truck just goes to show that most of don't need half the stuff we have strapped to our trucks :). Every time I think I need another gadget, I just need to come back and watch this again. Thank you!

    We had a 100 Series LC and regret selling it in 2017. I was seriously considering putting a deposit on a 2024 LC, but after watching this video, I need to take a second look at buying a 200 series LC. Thanks for sharing all the details on your build and your video!

    Great review and simple efficient build . You guys are the best . I am so tired of the many overland youtubers that are just making commercials and trying to sell us stuff we don't need. Thank you and please don't change .

    Love the minimalist bumpers (“sliders”). Perfect compromise between no protection and a ton of steel.

    I have a very similar build on the outside and I use it nearly exactly as you described. 75-80mph from Louisiana to Moab and did Fins N Things in comfort.
    Haven’t camped in it yet but I really appreciate the way y’all have it laid out. Big thumbs up! 👍🏼👍🏼

    The basic set up, hands down the best one we had too. No, its not a house on wheels, But is a comfortable bed on wheels. At the end thats what keeps you fresh on the road, a good sleep. Shower is second, but a river, lake can help. Cheers guys!

    I get 12.5 in town with 33" Geolanders on method wheels. Might get 15-16 on the interstate averaging 77mph on the top end. Got 19.5 on the interstate driving home after buying it.

      That's not bad. The clean roof and keeping it at 73 to 75 seems to help more than I'd expect on mpg. It's hard to go slow with so much power so I enjoy the 12mpg drives at 80+ the most.

    I have a similar setup in my lc200 diesel twin turbo here in Australia. Sleeping platform over the draws is the best way to go. I've also got some custom made window coverings which blackout and insulate the inside. Best to keep it all simple and ability to easily convert back to 5 or 8 seater. Great video!

    2 weeks is about or maximum before we need a resupply, longer than that and we're eating ramen noodles. Once the real food runs out we're looking for a grocery to resupply groceries and drinking water. Ya'll are masters at living in a small space. Love your 200. It gets better mileage than our Tacoma even when we're not towing the teardrop!

    I appreciate it he commentary at 32:15. Ive found that to be true. The aftermarket sometimes threads the needle on an improvement in functionality thay outwieghs the fitment/quality drawbacks over OEM, but it RARELY does that.
    Being 6'9" tall, I have to make that tradeoff just to drive a 200 (aftermarket seat, bracket, airbag defeats, etc) and it's an impossible decision.

    • @SaltySunriseSailing

    If you can fit it, used donaldson powercore air cleaners (the same filters used for the diesel LC dusting fix) can be found at junkyards, ebay, and truck supply retailers. The 06-07 GM duramax 6.6 trucks came with a donaldson air cleaner with a cyclonic-type pre-cleaner.

    I’ve heard that front steel bumpers are extremely unsafe because they can cave into the footwell in the event of a severe accident. I am not sure about the specifics of your front bumper, but what are your thoughts on that? One of the resources i heard this from was John Cadogan.

    • @SaltySunriseSailing
      @SaltySunriseSailing  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Not worried about it. Ours is a single tube that weighs less than any other bumper. He's probably referring to a full ARB style roo 🦘 guard bumper. Those are a trade off. They protect you at low and medium speeds and maybe in a head on high speed collision you've added something that can hurt you more. Life is dangerous.

      Thank you so much for a quick response. I really appreciate it. One more quick question I noticed that you have 285x75’s. I was told by the fella who sold me my tires when he sold me my wheels that a 285 x 70 x 17 tire would be the largest tire that would fit in the spare tire location. did you have to do any modifying to your spare tire area to accommodate your very slightly larger size or was the fella who sold me the tire mistaken?

    Love the less is more approach. Question: I live in the Phoenix area and just picked up a 2010 200. What do you recommend for a good all around wheel tire package? I will be doing FSR in the northern Arizona area occasionally but mostly on road travel. Thanks !

    • @SaltySunriseSailing
      @SaltySunriseSailing  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I like the 285/75r17 size. Very little trimming to fit them and still small enough to get good MPG when you want to. Definitely an All Terrain in my opinion. Even in the Amazon our Mud Terrains would pack in and be racing slicks so I stick to AT's everywhere now. (Okay maybe some tractor tires if I was really ONLY doing mud)
      For wheels, I haven't found anything stronger or lighter than the forged TRD wheels we run with the faux bead lock ring removed. "Rockwarrior" Tundra wheels. Available on Ih8mud classifieds.

    • @chrishoyt4209

    • @SaltySunriseSailing
      @SaltySunriseSailing  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      OEM size. People will claim you can go bigger without rubbing, but when the suspension compresses it will rub if you don't trim and go bigger than stock.
