    I’ve had pictures of this watch as my desktop background at work for a few months now, such a great looking dial. I’m so happy to hear such a detailed review, thank you!

    The Longines Heritage series makes nice watches available at fair prices from the historic Longines catalogue. The movements are respectable and represent high quality and embellished ETAs made available to Longines as a sister company under the Swatch umbrella. The solid case backs are authentic to history but display case backs should be considered by Longines.

    I’ve been in quarantine for four months, I’ve worn nothing but Explorer and g-shocks sometimes. I don’t need another watch, I don’t need another watch....
    Damn that sector dial looks nice....

    What a beautiful watch congradulations !
    Barton has a 19mm blue - gray strap that's very comfortable for the warmer months. Perhaps I'd even try a stainless steel jubilee . Either way, it's a gorgeous timepiece ! 🧡

      Thank you very much, my friend. I'm not a huge fan of rubber/silicone straps but I have been on the lookout for a beads of rice/jubilee bracelet :)

      @@engineer_wannabe hello ! I forgot to say canvas straps! I'm not a fan of rubber straps either and reasonably priced 20mm jubilee's are difficult to find. I think Strapco may have a few.
      I hope you're able to find them for your full review. It's one of the few "field style " watches I've seen that look just as beautiful as a dress piece! Stay well ❤

    I have also found lug to lug isn't the whole story. Every time when I try Breguet watches always feel overwhelmed, even the lug to lug is only 45mm.

    • @engineer_wannabe
      @engineer_wannabe  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I must say that this is the first time I've come across something like this. Usually the lugs are just too long haha

    I prefer brushing vs polishing, especially in high-end watches, which is very uncommon, because it doesn't scratch like polished surfaces do.

    Looks great. If you don’t mind me asking, what's your wrist diameter? Mine is 6.5”, and wondering if it is too large.

    The lugs are wider then your wrist?!

    • @engineer_wannabe
      @engineer_wannabe  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, but it appears that way sometimes. From what I can tell, because of lug shape and lug hole placement.
      A non issue for someone with a flatter or slightly larger wrist than mine

    About the 4 minute mark in your video the watch appears with a very nice blue leather strap. Is it a Longines strap?

  • @Kairosdex
    @Kairosdex 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    That lug to lug is the main issue, do you think this watch will stay in your collection long term?

    • @engineer_wannabe
      @engineer_wannabe  4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      The 47mm lug to lug theoretically should work great...but it doesn't. I don't think this will be a keeper for me but I will enjoy it while I have it :)

    An elegant watch, the strap is nasty though, to be honest i think the 35mm conquest heritage would be nicer.I have 2 longines a s/s hand winder from 1954 (a relative's old watch)and a 1990 presence quartz which i bought new myself.

    • @engineer_wannabe
      @engineer_wannabe  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've been keeping my eye out for the 35mm Conquest as well. If the proportions are similar to this watch, it should be perfect!
      Sounds like you have 2 great Longines keepers 👍 Would love to see that 1954!!

    How many inches is your wrist? I wanna measure how the Watch’s will look on my 6 Inch wrist.

  • @watchnerds
    @watchnerds 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Longines Heritage line is quite famous for their long lugs though... I think they want to kept the case proportion, which is fine if it was smaller like say 35 or 36mm like how it was produced during 1940-1960es which does not make the watch looks tiny on the wrist despite its size, like the one I had, a weem second Longines that was made during WW2 is 33mm but the elongated lugs makes it looks like it was 35-36mm watch, but now, to keep up with the big watch craze in this modern era, eventhough the case was 38.5mm, the lug-to-lug measurements also got enlarged as well, which as you said that it is indeed longer and makes the watch bigger than the paper measurements and personally, if they make the lug shorter a little, it'll also looks kinda off with such design.
    For the finishing on the case, as it was a sector dial made for military officers back then, it should not have any disruption to the legibility, thus why the case was entirely brushed in the origin watch, and it reflects as well in the remake as they want to be as faithful to the original watch this one based on. Anyway, check out their Longines Heritage "Tuxedo" as well, in which was based on the "bullseye" dialed Longines watches.
    Btw, to be honest, the watch looks best with that blue strap you've attached it with. Or tanned/light orangey brown leather/ostrich strap.

      I didn't fully realize that a polished surface could reduce visibility. Thank you for your thoughtful and excellent comment!

    • @watchnerds
      @watchnerds 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@engineer_wannabe thus why NASA project watches like Alaska moonwatches as well in the latest ones like the Skywalker abroad in ISS doesn't have any polished surfaces. In this case this one were made because of the origin watch were satin polished due to the military requirement.
      Btw, look up for Gay Freres bracelet designs and attach to this watch, it'll look like a patek in recent auctions at Philip www.bexsonn.com/longines-heritage-classic/

    Does anyone know if there are different variations of this watch? Some pictures show the darker color on the inside of the dial and othe pictures show the darker color is on the outside of the dial.

    • @engineer_wannabe
      @engineer_wannabe  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      From what I understand, the pictures with the dark subdial were prototypes. Final production is what you see in this video. I read this in the Fratello comments section a few months ago (Response was from Fratello author)

      I hear you. But the strap is really thick and the keeper is so tight that I could not pull the tail through the right way. At least that's how my one turned out. I'm sure there is a bit of variance in production
