the 2 minute rant on butterflies has me cackling lmao. but i absolutely loved watching your inktober prompts and love hearing you explain your process for each!

🦋I need to tell you something: my oldest child Jack (now 20) is TERRIFIED of butterflies 😮 when they were about 10 I took them and their siblings to the botanical gardens and they have a gorgeous butterfly garden with big gorgeous moths and butterflies. One of the biggest moths I’ve ever seen landed in their chest and was looking at them. They were frozen still. I giggled thinking they were just trying to be careful not to move, but then they said, “ehhhhh, help me😬” After I helped remove the moth, they explained it was the big furry eyes that were completely freaking them out. So you are not alone. Also there’s a SpongeBob episode about this and how freaked out SB and Patrick are by a butterfly in Sandy’s dome😂

The more I watch her videos and her art the more I realize how genius she is. Art that is both childlike and lovely but also have so much backstory and thought…all while being executed with perfection

ahhh I loved this! I was basically staring at your artwork every day of peachtober but never realised all the details in the artwork like the details of the frame in land and sea and sleepy! Now I can't wait to see next year!

I was too busy and absent minded to finish my own prompts this year but I still found so much joy and inspiration while looking through other artists' works. Your artworks especially have such a pleasant blend of mediums and colors, I always learn something by watching you paint!
Aww yay, this year I mad it the farthest I've ever made in Peachtober! --28 days! Thanks for putting so much work into the prompt list Sha'an and then for sharing your process and thoughts afterwards. It's comforting to know that even you have pieces that you don't like, or that you have to push through with. I got my cowgirl postcard-this was definitely my favorite this year! 🤠

Even the pieces that didn't turned out like you invisioned are so beautiful! How much lovelier your imagination must be. This was fun and engaging to watch. It totally made me want to experiment and sketch again.

I loved the Pegasus and sprout the best. Lovely border on that one! Also, I think butterflies have creepy faces and legs as well and cute, fuzzy moths are highly underrated👌

I enjoy robot, shell and wing. The colors are beautiful and the feel of the pieces are so tranquil. Whale is one that I really like. It could use more contrast but the idea is good.
Ok but genuinely the whale one might be my favorite? Those blues and blacks with the pops of green and purples are some of my favorite colors, and the stars around the border remind me of my childhood dreams

hehe you're just talking about the rainbows - i always wonder if it's intentional or not but a lot of your rainbows resemble pride flag rainbows especially the pan (pink, yellow, blue) and bi (pink, purple, blue) flag hehehe 💖

the butterfly explanation is perfect. I've always been terrified of butterflies and people laughed at me for it and my reason was because their flying was so unpredictable! they're pretty to look at from afar only lol

Unfortunately, there were too many things happening in life for me to fully participate. But I got to work on ideas for the first few prompts and I had so much fun with it! I really hope I can fully participate if you continue next year. ❤
I honestly can’t get over the state of your paintbrushes 😂😂 I’m editing this to also say that I also found the rant against butterflies hilarious. Girl is from Australia where the insects and animals are out to kill you and Sha’an is spooked by caterpillars 🐛 and butterflies 🦋 😂
The painting sequence for the pet rock piece is so satisfying to watch. That border being painted is beautiful 💜💙💗

I used to work in a walk-through butterfly experience at a zoo and give people advice on how to avoid or encourage butterflies landing on them based on their preference. (1) Carefully watch where you step because butterflies land on stone/brick walkways for the warmth and some (like Painted Ladies and Mourning Cloaks) look like leaves when they close their wings. (2) Sway gently from side to side at all times so that you're a moving target, but you're not likely to accidently swat/crush them when they're near you. (3) Don't wear bright colors, you'll either look like a flower/foodsource or you'll look like a good place to camouflage. (4) When watching their flight path, do not view that path as if you are looking at a feather creature, but instead watch it as if it were a leaf floating through the air that is particularly sensitive to any and all changes in air flow even tiny-imperceptible-to-human air curents including those cause by your own body's movements. This is why swaying is so effective, because they Are sensitive to air currents caused by your body's movements, and you can gently raise your hands in the air and sway and effect their movements so that they will not land on you but will appear from a distance to be dancing with you. (BONUS) If by chance a butterfly does land on you, hold very still ans ask a friend who knows who to pick up a butterfly without touvhing their wings to do so and place the butterfly on the nearest flower.

However, I just have to say this, bc it will haunt me if I don't: Mountains are not old volcanoes :') Well, some are, but most mountains are just geological formations (usually caused by the plates of the earth pushing against each other and pushing the ground higher and higher), no lava involved.
The piece still works just fine (I live on a volcanic island and our mountain is indeed a volcano :D), but I just had to say this. I am sorry :D

The way you feel about butterflies is how I feel about moths. Butterflies mostly just leave me alone but moths are chaos... but they're also so cute and fuzzy 😭
I think for me moths > butterflies because in upclose piccies they are soooo cute and butterflies are soooo terrifying. Plus I feel like moths are underdogs

I actually really like the lantern! It’s the only print I ordered along with the zine, but I was in a hurry cause I thought they might sell out 😅. I wish I had gotten the trees print as well though, I really like that one looking back!
I think its more the contrast to what i had envisioned abd perhaps because i didnt use gouache for a lot of it, it doesn't have that solidness I was talking about??? Ty for supporting peachtober and me!!!! Super appreciated!!!

Also re: butterflies I feel kinda similar about snails in that I don't like HOW they are.... nothing against them personally but like they're so easy to step on and they can't run away and it freaks me out!!
I'm becoming better friends with them though cause my housemate has some as pets and they're cute to watch when they're eating

You should design coloring books for pre schoolers. Your art style is right up their alley.
Edit: I forgot how how hard people today go out of their way to look to be offended. I thought I had better come back to make sure you knew I meant that is the best light possible. Your art style isn't exactly mature. Nor is your skill level. However, with that being said, you are in the creative space to do very very very important work for the future of humanity. Your work could teach preschoolers mobility skills, color theory, creativity, the power and importance of imagination, Patience, restraint, etc etc etc. Which is far more important than raising one's skill level to equal that of the masters. Your work brings joy to the little ones. Keep it up.
I sure hate that you charge them for it though. Maybe you should consider contacting your government for an education grant to create worksheets for schools as part of their development. That way you'll get that extra money you want so desperately since you feel youtube isn't enough. There are million dollar grants out there for those willing to do the work.
