If a local art museum isn’t considering teaming up with Raden to do promotions or even record museum tours I question their sanity. She has what it takes to make art interesting and accessible.
That she’s a genuinely cultured individual and a disaster of a human being is a powerful duality.

Bro, disaster of a human and amazing artist goes hand in hand. Have you seen what the great masters of the past are like? Even the masters alive today are... well, let's just say they often end up hospitalized for this or that...

@@TheRatedOniChannel I mean, the greatest experiences a human can have, are when you go sky high and hit rock bottom, right? Artists need those experiences like a plant need sunshine - there's no inspiration and imagination without a breadth of knowledge in all kinds of human experiences.

Great video and translation as always, and amazing explanations from Raden! I got a lot of nostalgia and recalled a lot of memories and facts I thought I had forgotten.
So at 5:24 the reason why she says technically Photography was invented in 1839 is because there exists a heliograph (sun photograph) by Nicéphore Niepce in 1827, basically a pinhole camera which takes a very long time to take a photo and not very legible. I'll list some funfacts below:
1839 was the first time Photographs were actually clear and legible and there was also a bit of controversy because two individuals in the same year had "invented" photography.
    1) The Daguerreotype by Louis-Jacques-Mandé Daguerre, which used expensive silver-plated copper plates to take very accurate positive photos (it took on average 15 minutes for a single photo and the avg person would not be able to afford this).
    2) The Calotype invented by Henry Fox Talbot, where he how to fix images with chemistry using light and paper to create negatives, which you could make multiple "positive" prints from. (this is the cheaper method which was used for a long time, and basically every old film camera uses this method, but at the time Talbot didn't discover he could create positives from his negatives).
    - The reason why photography became so big was because getting a portrait painted was extremely expensive and only reserved for the wealthy, and photographs allowed bereavedfamilies to take pictures of their deceased (it was common for families to take post-mortem photographs to remember their loved ones)
    - Daguerre was accredited with the invention of photography because at the time his method for photography produced better images than Talbots, but Talbot's Calotype was the method that was further improved upon since it was much cheaper and you could create multiples.
    - It wasn't until after 1841 where Talbot's process was more commonly used.
    - Lastly photography created a lot of realizations about things didn't truly understand. For instance, a lot of horses were prior to 1878 were painted with their legs all stretched out in an X-like shape. In 1878 Eadweard Muybridge captured a horse's motion by lining up several cameras which was the first time someone could actually see how horses galloped.ery

I want to sincerely thank you for these videos, and specially for this one. I know that translating +20 minutes is a hard task, even more given that you added images of the paintings and people she was talking about.
You show a very interesting - and educational - side of her that otherwise doesn't reach non-Japanese speakers like me. And there's something beautiful seeing someone express their passions while also teaching about them.
I know these clips may not be as popular as what usually gets translated by other channels, but I hope that you can keep doing this amazing job. Sorry for the long message, still, I thought it was necessary to show my support for such enjoyable content. Thank you.

I appreciate the message! I agree, people who are passionate about something but also have the ability to get other people interested and engaged in it, especially fine art, is truly something special. I also follow her on twitter and so many people are checking out and sharing their trips to art museums or culturally important places. It's so cool to see. Hopefully she tones these down to like 15 minute lessons though or I might expire lol.

    ~TL Notes~
3:40 - Fist of the North Star slot machine? She sang the battle bonus theme in a different stream, so maybe?
18:25 - Basically gives a thorough list of art museums to visit
    ~Error~
8:58 - Should be yellow and red, not yellow and orange

    • @imLumineux
      @imLumineux ปีที่แล้ว +1

Thanks for the TL as always!
You have a slight TL mistake at 8:58, she says orange is a mix of yellow and red, but you put orange twice.
But honestly understandable as you clipped over 20 minutes of her explaining art, art theory, and art history.

As a hobbyist, I once volunteered to teach a beginner's history course. Simplifying things to fit in a set amount of time, while keeping it interesting, took an insane amount of work and study and thinking. Historical context is so important but it's also a neverending rabbit hole. How far do you go? What's actually relevant to the topic at hand? How do you do it all without being dry?
I never specifically went into art history, so watching Raden put on this class is just so satisfying.

I love her telling that Monet didn't think Black was a color. It makes me think of an anecdote.
When Monet died, his friend Clemenceau arrived and saw his coffin topped with a black cloth. Without consulting anyone, he threw it and replaced it by a nearby table cloth. "Pas de noir pour Monet, le noir ce n'est pas une couleur" "No Black for Monet, Black is not a color".

Great job at 7:44, you really captured one of the essantial aspects of Impressionism! The fact that up close the paint strokes and the color used seem random, but when you see the full picture it all becomes clear. Thank you for this clip, it really made me remember my art classes

Yesss I've been waiting!!! Thank you very much man!!!
Raden said "Thru art I understand history, and thru history I understand art." before, but really, as someone who sleeps the entire class (except for math, math teachers are scary), the things she teaches us are eye opening.
Maybe someday, will I be able to see arts as she sees thru them?

I love Raden's passion. I took an art history class but it didn't really capture my attention or interest. Nothing against it, was just doing it for the credits and the art I enjoy is like fan artists on Twitter rather than more traditional stuff like this lol. But hearing Raden talk about this history, how passionate she is about it, how knowledgeable she is and how much she clearly enjoys it actually makes the topic interesting and enjoyable.
    Thanks for the subs!

Not a lot of streamer, let alone vtuber, talk abt classical art, and it s such a shame, because it s just a wonderful topic. While there r a lot of art related streamer, few talks abt art history so fervently, so Im very happy to ve found her.
