- Right-wing Israeli groups are planning to slaughter red heifers at Al Aqsa Mosque in the hope of fulfilling a Jewish prophecy. Some believe it's where the first and second ancient Jewish temples once stood.
According to Jewish tradition, the ashes of a perfectly red heifer cow are needed for the ritual purification that would allow a Third Temple to be built in Jerusalem's Old City known as the Temple Mount. There are fears this could strengthen calls for the demolition of Al Aqsa Mosque and escalate tensions in the region. TRT World's Mohammad Al-Kassim has the story.

It's amazing that in the 21st century people still believe in these Bronze Age superstitions. There are over 2000 religions that we know of in our long written history (and many more god), all can be shown to be products of their time and place and based on local myths and legends. Given this is people trying to jump start the apocalpse and force God to go along with what they want... I think it'd be better to say humanity ruins religion. Most religions start off with a set of core values their society has decided to believe in... and then after a while those values are reinterpreted to favour an existing or new elite, and those reinterpretations are further reinterpreted for the convenience of the powerful, and while there can be course corrections the initial ideals tend to be undermined and ruined because humanity almost always ends up finding basic ethics inconvenient.
Actually religion is the only reason we have any morals whatsoever, and as religion declines in the West, humanity is devolving into total chaos. I live in California which is a prime example.
