I'm surprised Seth didn't bring up Etrata's biggest partner in crime. Well, maybe not cause they're commander only, but I thought it would be relevant enough Mari, the Killing Quill {1}{B}{B} / 3/2 Legendary Creature - Vampire Assassin Whenever a creature an opponent controls dies, exile it with a hit counter on it. Of course this still requires them to play creatures, but it's not like they're not gonna play none.

Okay, I didn't use to be on the conspiracy train of "Seth's pronunciations are a deliberate comment engagement tactic," but seeing the discussion after Ezio's name was said I'm starting to fold up my tinfoil hat
Not gonna read all the comments to see if anyone said this yet, but Ezio is pronounced like the online store where people sell stuff they made, but with an O on the end. Etsy-O. Love your content Seth!
Worth noting that we've gotten a handful of cards that deal in hit counters since Etrata's release, so she's become feasible even if you only get in one attack with her.
Ah-tem-sis Etzi-o Auditor-ay de Fi - ren - zay It's not that hard, boss. Edit: Gole - Gar - e Ffs man, if you're gonna do MtG content and you don't know how to pronounce something, *please look it up.* I cringed so hard I flipped inside out. Everything hurts.
The Planeswalker deck Vraska isn't hard, it's just not efficient. Drop it in play with a Doubling Season on the field (since most decks with Vraska walkers will be Golgari) and that will make it already be at 10 loyalty. Then just pop the -10, killing Vraska in the process, but now everything you have instakills your opponents. Like I said - not efficient, but it is pretty easy to pull off.
HOLD UP, HOLD THE PHONE! I heard Seth finally say Vraska (#14) the proper way!!! 5:05 Sure, he butchered it with his usual “Vahraska” for the earlier one, and later in that same comment about that one (lmao), AND on the Vraska that followed later, but lets not focus on that, he finally got it right that time! 🎉
I had Vraska in a Proliferate deck I build that makes unlockable poison counter monsters, and it didn't usually win, but proliferating loyalty counters onto planeswalkers was a real solid strategy to get that x3 (1/1) assassins ability to pop off. And since the deck made everything unblockable, if it ever worked, it always worked, you feel me?
So, to win with "Deck Of Many Things", I •Play any deck I want •Empty my hand •Roll a 20 on a dice •Activate Relay Soul but don't transfer ownership if I Relay my soul to an opponent's monster Ok.
Hope this doesn't get struck for sharing a link, but talking about cards that don't directly make the your opponent lose the game, BEHOLD, me Nine Lives, Harmless Offering, and Back to Nature deck. th-cam.com/video/R2h4VFbOQUA/w-d-xo.htmlsi=QThaX95JiKAq78X1
That butchering of Ezio's name physically hurt me. Even if you've never played Assassin's Creed you can at least look up how it's pronounced, or even just how to pronounce Italian words. This is beyond lazy.
I have won with Vraska Golgari Queen's emblem twice. Once during when it was in Standard where I was in a board stall and managed to get the emblem but the opponent kept killing my creatures. I needed to use Tamiyo Collector of Tales to recur a Nissa Who Shakes the World from my graveyard to make a hasty 3/3 land to kill my opponent. The other time wasn't even my Vraska but my opponent's Vraska who was about to get the emblem on their next turn. I use Mass Manipulation to steal their Vraska, ultimate it for the emblem, and immediately killed the opponent with it. Also I managed to win with Vorpal Sword's opponent loses the game in limited.
i gotta say, i like some of these cards and while i didnt play mtga with triskedaikaphobia it sounds not that hard or at least kinda funny to try. But i had some really nice games and wins with the strixhaven Stadium (by PROLIFERATING rather than attacking!) in Standard in MTGA - and a lot less in historic but i could win against some friends. Instawins (or loses) are kinda fun to play and to build around i think =) and thx for the list
Note: All of these comparisons are at a casual level. I am not saying these cards are necessarily good in a competitive environment. With Atemsis, I had a friend I would often play commander with who had a UW Isperia the Inscrutable deck. Isperia allows him to tutor for a flying creature if he can deal combat damage to a player and guess a card in their hand. The player would then reveal their hand, so he could simply attack the same player twice to guarantee a tutor (assuming the player couldn't block a flying 3/6). He had Atemsis in his deck as an alternate win con, and because he could tutor cards with mana values he needed, it was actually somewhat reliable. It at the very least was threatening, requiring the rest of the players to have an answer (which to be fair is pretty easy to have in commander, although he did have a few tricks to protect/reanimate creatures). Also, Faithbound Judge was an effective alternate win condition for me at my LGS when playing FNM. There were some opponents who I would often board stall against, and it allowed me to either force them to hold back removal or counter spells in fear of me playing the enchantment, or close out games where neither my opponent nor I had many things left on board or in hand. This was especially true against a mono red deck, who I would need to burn through a lot of resources to survive against (Faithbound Judge's frontside being one of the more useful resources available to me), and then I could finally flip it from my graveyard. I would say that at least 1/10 of my wins were from Sinner's Judgment.
I think Scheming Gorgon should be a little higher because it's slightly more possible (IE if there's a board stall and you have more creatures/evasion than your opponent) than Atemsis and Vessel of the All-Consuming, which are just not happening. But all the bottom-tier alternate win cons are not even at the level of Against the Odds longshots, so it's hard to call this anything but a nitpick.
Strixhaven Stadium wins the game for me lol 60% of the time that I draw it in my Subira, Tulzidi Caravanne Historic Brawl deck. It’s not a win more card cuz all my creatures have 1 or 2 power, and it’s not a “get teamed up on” card cuz it’s a 1v1 format
I have definitely won with Atemsis before. I can't remember what deck, probably EDH. But I think they had Unlife/Solemnity down so it was actually really clutch.
It's still not great by any means, but in a WUBRG deck you could play Faithbound Judge with Obeka, Splitter of Seconds as a 1 shot because of her extra upkeeps
Seths (likely intentional) horrible misspronounciation of ezio aside I feel like seth did underrate faithbound judge a lot. As a flying 4/4 blocker for 3 that can also attack at some point, as well as being a soldier, its a pretty decent card you can absolutely slot into a mono white soldier deck in standard. However, sometimes you run into some grinds. And if you did, the backside can come in clutch. It has no real deckbuilding cost and your hand is likely empty at some point when your topdecks betray you. So you just dusturb it from your graveyard to have done something this turn, and it becomes a hard to deal with 3 turn clock. So, its not the easiest to pull off, but it has like no deckbuilding cost. So its actually the one I've seen win the most games outside of the top 5.
Im so upset at that pronunciation of Ezio Auditore da Firenze, so if hes doing it specifically for comment farming he's succeeded from me. He mispronounces a lot of cards too, across videos. My biggest pet peeve has recently been calling Eiganjo "ayjohn-oh"
Nicol Bolas Dragon God + Aminatou + Oath of Teferi is infinite activations. Once you have used bolas to remove all your opponents legendaries double up the counters with Vorinclex for the win. It is shockingly fast and consistent in a Sisay deck.
Your completely wrong about Atemsis. And not just in the pronunciation. In a deck built around her, it is actually incredibly easy to get the win with her effect. It’s like your ignoring the fact that any Commander deck running her as a Commander will be mono blue. Yeah, the same mono blue with infinite card draw effects, plenty of ways to have no maximum hand size and counter spells. My wife runs her as one of her favorite Commanders and wins consistently with the effect, even when we all know we’re on the clock, and the fact that she has to kill us one at a time.
I think i have 3 you win/opponent loses cards in my deck. I have Mirrodin Besieged and Helkite Tyrant in there. I think I've got mechanized production in it too. It's a very artifact heavy deck
sinners judgement is better now with obeka splitter of seconds, unfortunately it means you need to run WUBR and obeka cant be your commander, but it does mean you could play hidden commander. its still a janky wincon especially since it self exiles and you would need to build around copying it for every opponent and buffing obeka up enough to get the 4 upkeeps also you forgot the form of a squirrel fractured identity lose combo. just give fractured identity flash, cast form of the squirrel, cast fractured at instant speed before form of the squirrel resolves targeting form of the squirrel. assuming nobody plays a counterspell or other interactions that means that everyone except you gets a copy of form of the squirrel, the ability resolves meaning those players cant be attacked or targeted by spells or abilities, but they also get a 1/1 squirrel token that, when it leaves play it makes the controller lose the game, even if form of the squirrel leaves the field is negated or otherwise is no longer functioning. but thats not all, everyone except you cant cast spells thanks to form of the squirrel, so all you need to do is let them pass their turns cause chances are they cant do anything other than attack with whatever is on the field already while you get a board wipe out of your deck (or just anything that can kill a measly 1/1 squirrel token) only issue is that if you play the form of a squirrel combo without a way to kill at least the biggest combat threat on the field immediately after giving the tokens out everyone will use their combat phases to attack with everything hoping to kill you.
I'd love for Seth to know I've gotten a deck of many things win, in commander, with Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar. I forced the table to attack each other through Kardur and chainer, using witches oven and underworld cookbook to generate tons of food. When i had one opponent left i cast deck, hit the 20, and force fed the reanimated creature some food to finish the Elf player off before they could kill me. I had a playmat commissioned to celebrate
I’ve had a pretty easy time getting Frodo’s kill off. In my experience people tend to wait until you’ve invested the six and have the four temps to kill him. Make him indestructible to avoid basic removal. Play a “destroy all” board wipe and go in for the kill. Plus if you have a few pie breaking counterspells it’s really easy to make him dodge being exiled. I play him with wraiths and enemies will often use all of their removal on the wraiths before Frodo is a problem and run out of removal by the time he is
Blim, Comedic Genius is a very fun commander to giftewrap live grenades for your opponent. Forcing players to discard means they will have to rely on whatever garbage Blim hands to them, perhaps a charming Archfiend of the Dross with no counters on it.
I used to have a Jeskai control deck that could absolutely kill people with Atemsis on a consistent basis. So much that the playgroup feared it and it was often kill on sight even without much of a hand. It's not a card you should actively shove in decks, but if you just happen to have a lot of card draw and a good MV spread across your deck, it can occasionally be a good inclusion.
I played against someone on Door to Nothingess (commander: Child of Alara) the other day. I won because the 4th player lost prior and they chose to take out the player on the commander that gives everything vigilance if you have 3+ creeatures.
In arena I've won with both Vorpal Sword and Strixhaven Stadium. Treating Strixhaven stadium like a mana rock worked fine for me because people don't think I'm using it as a win condition.
Atemsis was actually not that hard to get off with my Unesh, Criosphinx Sovereign deck. I could load up my hand with whatever I wanted with each Unesh trigger, and it was easy to get the right cards for the instant kill.

Whenever a creature an opponent controls dies, exile it with a hit counter on it.

Opponent: let's their guard down around Ezio.
Me: reanimate a Magister Sphinx
You just lost the game.
Seth.... I am 100% sure that was on purpose as you mispronounced every single syllable in that name... you know which one, im not even typing it.
Not gonna read all the comments to see if anyone said this yet, but Ezio is pronounced like the online store where people sell stuff they made, but with an O on the end. Etsy-O. Love your content Seth!
Ahhh... the subtitles are really screwed up on this video. Like, they're layered over a second set of wrong subtitles. Could you please fix it?
I built a Phage EDH deck and is really fun to play.
It's like the Dark Souls of decks, one mistake and you're dead.
Worth noting that we've gotten a handful of cards that deal in hit counters since Etrata's release, so she's become feasible even if you only get in one attack with her.
Ah-tem-sis
Etzi-o Auditor-ay de Fi - ren - zay
It's not that hard, boss.
Edit: Gole - Gar - e
Ffs man, if you're gonna do MtG content and you don't know how to pronounce something, *please look it up.*
I cringed so hard I flipped inside out.
I'm just now noticing the Ragavan on the dark board in the back. Well played, Seth.
So, to win with "Deck Of Many Things", I
•Play any deck I want
•Empty my hand
•Roll a 20 on a dice
•Activate Relay Soul but don't transfer ownership if I Relay my soul to an opponent's monster
Ok.
I’ve won with Atemsis twice. To the same person. He now fears something he should never have feared.
Hope this doesn't get struck for sharing a link, but talking about cards that don't directly make the your opponent lose the game, BEHOLD, me Nine Lives, Harmless Offering, and Back to Nature deck.

Instawins (or loses) are kinda fun to play and to build around i think =)
and thx for the list
Nicole Bolas
Eezeo Adoortrey di Franeez
Aim Assist, All Seeing
Yet he flawlessly pronounces Hidetsugu and Triskaidekaphobia.
Seths (likely intentional) horrible misspronounciation of ezio aside
I feel like seth did underrate faithbound judge a lot.
It is shockingly fast and consistent in a Sisay deck.
as an italian, i'm absolutely HOWLING at Seth pronouncing Ezio Auditore da Firenze like that lmao will NEVER not pronounce it like that from now on
Your completely wrong about Atemsis.
It's a very artifact heavy deck
sinners judgement is better now with obeka splitter of seconds, unfortunately it means you need to run WUBR and obeka cant be your commander, but it does mean you could play hidden commander. its still a janky wincon especially since it self exiles and you would need to build around copying it for every opponent and buffing obeka up enough to get the 4 upkeeps
also you forgot the form of a squirrel fractured identity lose combo. just give fractured identity flash, cast form of the squirrel, cast fractured at instant speed before form of the squirrel resolves targeting form of the squirrel. assuming nobody plays a counterspell or other interactions that means that everyone except you gets a copy of form of the squirrel, the ability resolves meaning those players cant be attacked or targeted by spells or abilities, but they also get a 1/1 squirrel token that, when it leaves play it makes the controller lose the game, even if form of the squirrel leaves the field is negated or otherwise is no longer functioning. but thats not all, everyone except you cant cast spells thanks to form of the squirrel, so all you need to do is let them pass their turns cause chances are they cant do anything other than attack with whatever is on the field already while you get a board wipe out of your deck (or just anything that can kill a measly 1/1 squirrel token)
only issue is that if you play the form of a squirrel combo without a way to kill at least the biggest combat threat on the field immediately after giving the tokens out everyone will use their combat phases to attack with everything hoping to kill you.
I've never heard Ezio's name butchered that much, my lord
I used to have a Jeskai control deck that could absolutely kill people with Atemsis on a consistent basis. So much that the playgroup feared it and it was often kill on sight even without much of a hand. It's not a card you should actively shove in decks, but if you just happen to have a lot of card draw and a good MV spread across your deck, it can occasionally be a good inclusion.
I played against someone on Door to Nothingess (commander: Child of Alara) the other day.
I won because the 4th player lost prior and they chose to take out the player on the commander that gives everything vigilance if you have 3+ creeatures.
In case anyone was wondering its pronounced ets-io
In arena I've won with both Vorpal Sword and Strixhaven Stadium. Treating Strixhaven stadium like a mana rock worked fine for me because people don't think I'm using it as a win condition.
Atemsis was actually not that hard to get off with my Unesh, Criosphinx Sovereign deck. I could load up my hand with whatever I wanted with each Unesh trigger, and it was easy to get the right cards for the instant kill.
