GREAT point about burning off the paint and not saturating the air with the paint dust. Superb! Leo
You should Auction the fire pits to the highest bidder! Generate funds for future projects.
My parents have one made from the back of a train tanker. It has three circles cut out of the bottom to allow for air to be pulled in. Really is a great design.
Any photos of that design ? I'm starting my build, could use some ideas..
The yard won't need water there for a while now! Lol. Those things are huge! Excited to see what you do with the rest of the tank now!
I hated dumping a thousand gallons of water, but that's better then blowing myself up lol. Coming soon, although this next build will take a while.
@TKCL lol, I hear you! It's cheaper than a doctor bill or worse! Based on the size of material, I would guess it's a biggie!! Have a good one, my friend.
@@dougdavis4439 take care!
@TKCL Woops, spell checker didn't work so well. He's fired! Lol
@@dougdavis4439 mine is horrible.
Wow. Those are Huge firepits.
Sure are
What you really need is an Evolution S210CCS (it’s a worm drive saw that can cut up to 2” in thickness). It will make cutting those tanks much easier.
I have their cheaper 7 1/4 saw. I might try it.
I have one of these, but a bit smaller. They are fantastic and last forever. Mine has a 3/16 plate steel sniffer (lid) which is a nice addition. Handles are welded on and it’s easy for two people to set it on top to put out the fire and keep whatever wood and coals nice and dry for the next fire. It’s a nice add on and way to make a little more money.

heavy duty! very nice
Thank you for watching
An inexpensive sandblaster from hobo fright or your friends at Vevor might come in handy, too, and for lots other things. Also, it might be interesting to see the patina that comes from seasoning one like a BBQ pit - grease it up a few times on the outside once you're down to bare metal and burn that in. I'm an old salt mechanic who appreciates rust as patina but some may not and would be willing to re-season a couple of times a year to maintain that - if that gets to be too much of a hassle they can always use rust as a fallback plan, it's always waiting in the wings ready to take over lol :) Cheers! Catch you later in the stream.
Agree with you on all points
Very Talented man.
Very nice idea Andrew, I'm looking forward to your next video!
Coming soon!
Neat project! I loved the “gong” sound when you smacked the ends with a sledgehammer. Maybe some big ass wind chimes will be on your project list! 😀
The ends of that tank would also make an awesome cooking pot, for jambalaya and other foods.
Don't know if I would trust it due to oily mess left behind in these tanks.
It helps to drill holes in the sides towards the bottom all around the pits to help give it some oxygen, so it’s not as smoky!
These burn just fine as is, especially once you get a coal bed going. Those holes allow coals to fall out.
Smartest thing I saw on this video was the three leg design. MUCH easier to level 3 legs than 4. If this were mine, I'd come up 1/4 - 1/3 the distance from bottom and drill 1/2" holes 3" apart.
There is absolutely NO way you're gonna burn that out. You're great Grandpappy couldn't burn that out!!! Leo
Agreed
Good looking fire pits....love to watch you working on projects.
Thanks
Hi Andrew those fire pits look amazing. You sure have really good ideas. 👍👍❤️❤️🇨🇦
Glad you like them!
Try and make a heavy duty one like this smokeless.
Good day to all, peace and joy.
Good afternoon
@@TKCL Yep
gee andrew do you really need such a small bath tub lol! very cool!
Lol
Great video. Thanks for sharing. 😊😊
Thanks for watching!
Too far away and not even gonna ask for shipping, lol. You can buy just tank ends for those who don't know, and make your own or find a local welder to add the feet. 1000% love the build and I'm sure they'll be sold before the video makes a few days old. Awesome pits!!
I've only ever seen the ends for sale once. They don't seem to be common here, plus the deep ends are not made anymore that I can find. Those were in the tanks from the 60s and 70s. Most newer ends are much flatter.
Excellent. See you at 7:00.
See you then
Nice size fire pits Andrew. Looking forward to see what you have in store for the rest of the tank. Too bad I’m not closer to Florida to buy a pit off you
Coming soon
I just made 2 pedestal stye pits like these with nice lifting handles. I have no idea what to sell them for, tho.... they are made from all scrap materials, so i can't really figure up what the materials cost me. And my labor time is who knows...
Great video!
Glad you enjoyed it
These are the awesome!
Glad you think so!
Very nice Andrew 👌
Thanks
👍👍
They really stink from mercaptan but a good burn out gets it. thick metal too. I use bed frame for legs on grills because it barely rusts.
Now them some fire pits ol Son. 💪
Yes they are
Massive !!!
Sure is
suggestion - getting something like that level especially that honking big would be much easier with a sandbag or two
Thanks for the tip!
@@TKCL Im sure you probably thought the same thing having an engineer background. Was just trying to help for the next ones just in case heheh
Super awesome. I have an old air compressor tank I’m going to do that to it. How much do they go for
Depends on the size, thickness of metal and accessories. I see ones this size online going for $1000 plus.
Holy moly....you'd have to sit in the next county LMAO! Those are pretty cool.
Lol
I had a neighbor that built one out of a skidder rim. He “painted” his the same you season cast iron, but used cooking spray. (Not the inside, just the outside). That would get too hot, after the steel started glowing, you couldn’t get close to it
Oil is another option for sure.
What are these going for? I have some in the making but idk what to ask for them.
Maybe a soup bean pot
Do you drill a drain hole in the bottom?
And... you answered my question. 😅
Nice. Is the lip the weld joint between the main cylinder and the end caps? I saw a video where they laid paper towels on large areas and soaked in muriatic acid to remove rust.
Correct on the lip weld ring. I have also tried muriatic acid myself, the paint on these are tough.
Wow, that would be great to have something like that but I live too far from you Andrew
Andrew, You can call this Texas Fire Pits. Everything is bigger in Texas🙂.
LOL
Are you going to use the leftover center piece as a wood fired boiler for a heated pool?
Not this time, it's going to be a unique cooker for the outdoor area.
Cannibal cooking pot.... 🙂@11:10
You don't add holes on the side to let some of the heat out
No need, the metal gets cherry red at times. I promise you that it gets hot. Plus those holes allow embers to fall out staining concrete and starting grass fires.
I guess you don't ship those, lol Love when you have security of producing to get income.
I couldn't imagine the cost to get one to you LOL.
Offset BBQ Smoker?
Not this time, something more unique.
Have you sold them already?
I have a waiting list already started. Working through it now to see who is purchasing. Email me at kelleyscountry@gmail.com
How do I get a hold of you to purchase one
There's already a relatively long list I ha e to work through kelleyscountry@gmail.com
That 16’ 1,000 ag tank is worth $4500
Not around here, otherwise I would absolutely sell it. But for now it's worth more to me for the creations that are coming.
@@TKCL I like watching how creative you get
Cost??
