    Some of the best jeans in the world are crafted in Kojima, a seaside district of Kurashiki, Okayama province. Widely known as Japan’s “denim capital,” Kojima has long been the textile mecca of the country and is where jeans were first produced in Japan. Amongst the cluster of denim manufacturers in the area, Japan Blue has separated itself with loyal followers through its quality in production. “We spend most of our time developing and creating the material, because that’s the essential element to quality denim” says Hiroki Kishimoto, longtime designer and founder of Japan Blue Jeans.
    Continuing the tradition of crafting durable and timeless denim, Kishimoto and his team undergo a meticulous process each season, from the special wash and dye treatments to the way the denim is hand cut and sewn. While denim originally hails from the States, Kojima denim has set itself apart from competitors in the market by portraying a unique beauty in their jeans that reflects Kojima’s culture. We visited Japan Blue’s studio in Okayama to learn more about the “Kojima way” of creating denim.
    In addition to the traditions of denim, Japan Blue is working with renown denim retailer Okayama Denim on an upcoming collaborative project. While details are sparse for now, be on the look out for this very special release when it drops later this year.

    Thank you japan for not manufacturing products the mass production way with cheap quality. It's so sad to see many american companies outsourcing nowadays, but I buy Japanese, Canadian, and American made goods whenever I can.

    But is Japanese denim better than G Star Raw or Rockstar denim🤔?

    • @Flipodahippo
      @Flipodahippo 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Xavier Gwyn those brands are too urban for me. All I know is g star is a Dutch brand and rockstar is an American brand that most hip hop artist wear. Not gonna lie their jeans kinda look goofy like how these new rappers look nowadays. Half those people look borderline homosexuals. But at the end of the day taste is subjective, so you like those go for it.

    For all of that narrative, he never explains why Japanese denim has to be handmade. Other than because they cannot mass manufactured. So what? Is it a better product than naturally aged and worn American jeans? They looked pretty stiff to me. If they have to be "softened" by artificial means, they are producing nothing special.

    • @michaelsutanto5269
      @michaelsutanto5269 8 ปีที่แล้ว +38

      +fattymoko it looks stiff because there are no artificial process on the fabric after they sew it to be a jeans. So basically you are wearing the raw fabric and that is why they call it "raw denim". The stiffness exist due to the starch that the fabric has but it does not last forever inside it. As you wear it it will get softer and softer overtime and you will get the personalize one of kind fades that belongs only to you. A beautiful product comes with work it might be stiff and uncomfortable to wear at first but all the hassle will all be worth it in the end.

    • @MrPocketfullOfSteel
      @MrPocketfullOfSteel 7 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      fattymoko It's not just Japanese denim that is so great. Hey....they learned it from the United States of America. Cone Mills makes fantastic denim in North Carolina and there are others.
      You have to purchase a pair of raw denim ONE TIME and only once. You will never go back to mass produced crap. There Really is a difference, and it is huge. This isn't a hipster thing. I'm soon to be 51 yrs. old and have worn raw denim basically my entire life. I'd never purchase a pair of denim unless it was raw, preferably loomstate. Should have a new pair of ST-121 from Self Edge here by the end of the week.👍
