I love the fact you've been inspired by the patina on your brother's guitar. As a woodworker (and a guitarist) I see the correlation between the patina and character of dyed timber, and that of polished leather: both share similarities. Long may he Elegant Oxford continue. Peace and Love. Tony
Fantastic! The marbling technique is especially cool. I always love the magical transformation that happens when the conditioner goes on and suddenly the finish all blends together!
Well after watching all your videos I'd have to say this pair are my favourite restoration work you've done. Simply beautiful. Unfortunately I'd not be able to wear them, only put them on show in a glass case.
WOW!!!! I am so ready to go to a thrift store and find a pair of shoes and experiment! Absolutely fantastic! Those shoes are beautiful! Especially after seeing the before compared to the after! Well done!
Watching an artisan at his craft is truly a wonderful and satisfying thing. I came across your videos quite by accident and simply couldn't stop watching.
This channel inspired me to pursue my own interest for working with leather during the lockdown. Now, after some time building my skills, and an impressive shoe collection I amassed in the process, I finally moved to do this exact job on a pair of tan oxfords. They are beautiful, but I fear using them and getting some damage! I am about to make a second pair to use on special events and a pair of boots.
I've lost track of how many time's I've watched this video. Pleasant to watch and I also learned a lot. In fact, this video gave me the confidence to try it out on one of my shoes. Thanks Preston!
Hats off mister. In México I used to work as a kid in a workshop. After many years I will start to do my on patina again. Thanks for revived my pasion. God bless.
Great video, Preston! I’m a guitar player and I’ve loved how these always remind me of sunburst guitar finished. Awesome to know that one of your brother’s guitars inspired you for this pair.
I think I have watched this video at least 3 dozen times in the past few days. Just bought a pair of used Allen Edmonds Strand oxfords in light brown to do exactly this...along with maybe some toe taps on a resole dyed red. Inspiring!
Here we go again. First it was bicycle restoration videos. My old Hardrock is now restored. Then it was custom and vintage axes. On to boiling and refinishing a Spanish Mauser rifle stock. Now I have to get all my 45 year old boots out and do some custom work on them. An inspiring job on those shoes. Takes me back to sitting with my Father polishing Sunday shoes Military MP style. It was Kiwi and the cold water. That was in 1966 or so. I also saw your leather briefcase video, if you what to try something different, look on Ebay for vintage leather ammunition pouches. Thanks for the tips, tricks and inspiration.
Those are absolutely the most beautiful pair of shoes I've ever seen! You give me confidence that I can continue to try new techniques, though I've not tried to dye my shoes. The Hermes Red seems to be the very best color to highlight or offset light and dark brown edges- I want to try it. Impressive techniques, Preston. Thanks.
Just yesterday I 'two toned' a favorite pair of loafers, using brown polish and conditioner after a small repair. Wow, this is just so nicely done, I want to go back and enhance my previous days' work. Thanks!!
Your really need to start your own shoe line "signature" collection!! Artisan skills like that are the true definition of "hand crafted." Well done, sir!
Brother man I’ve seen a lot of your videos and I’m a big fan. But I have never seen better work than this right here. These are fantastic. I love to buy a new pair that looks like that.
Super as always and yes this pair look stunning.. the shoe I have always wanted but never seen. I have bought an array of Saphir and Fiebings products and am having pleasure and fun with shoes and all because of you. Thank you. One thing I have not achieved as you seemed to do with this pair especially and that is to have a balanced shine between the mirror shine areas and the rest of the shoe giving the sense that the whole shoe was mirror shine. Thanks for the videos and inspiration.
Wow! I can't believe I have been inspired to try this myself. I have an old pair of walnut 5th Avenues that will be my test subjects. I'm sure it's not nearly as easy as you make it look, but we'll see soon enough. Thanks for making this video.
Absolutely Beautiful! I have been watching video after video trying to muster up the courage to attempt this. I just bought some used Allen Edmonds from dabondo on ebay(your suggestion) and bought some saphir polish and wax. Just need to watch some more videos then I will be good. Thanks for your videos and keep them coming.
Preston your work is inspirational to say the least. I've once again fell in love with my shoebox and all its polishes, creams and brushes. #ShineYourShoes
Man the shoes look like marvel super nice one of the best video so far is personal preference you getting better Whit the info on the videos thank you for sharing 🤙👌
This is art. I mean this entire presentation. The music, the pace, the narration, the filming and editing. The finished product was stunning.
Agreed
This is definitely one of your more “wow” videos with regards to the before and after. They look amazing
I agree
@@TheElegantOxford - This is artistic work... Wow!
Now, I am a little low in confidence if I can do the same.
Preston - I have a pair of boots to donate. Would you send me your address?

Fantastic! The marbling technique is especially cool. I always love the magical transformation that happens when the conditioner goes on and suddenly the finish all blends together!
I love when that happens
Well after watching all your videos I'd have to say this pair are my favourite restoration work you've done. Simply beautiful. Unfortunately I'd not be able to wear them, only put them on show in a glass case.
I feel the same way

I love the old sponge and creative techniques. Seemingly simple but I'm sure an acquired skill. v nice!
It looks so amazing, looks like a beautiful wood sculpture 😍😍
That was like getting to watch Monet paint. Amazing.

Probably your best video and patina & dye tutorial, Enjoyed the subtleness and music in the background. Thank you for posting.

The Elegant Oxford did it again. Such a beautiful shoe. This channel should be over 1M subs already. Such an awesome channel.

Preston... You killed it. You inspired me to dye my first pair, and they came out pretty good. Thanks for your videos. You rock.

Thanks for the videos and inspiration.
Thank you! I mirror shined the heels and sides around the flex points. You can do it too just avoid areas that will cause cracks.
@@TheElegantOxford thank you! I will try it.
I search for ways to DIY and find a great video of an artist.
