EA knows they've got enough core suckers that will pay $60 year after year, and probably $600 more in micro transactions. So they're not worry at all. The only way to get them to listen is to not buy the game at all, but EA knows that won't happen.

I would argue that the upper management has just been there too long and exclusivity deals have just made them profitable and lazy when it comes to churning out these franchises.

The Warlords of New York was an expansion on the 2nd game but took place in the setting of the first and brought back some criticized elements of the first
Majority of people hated Division 1. A sequel comes out and all of a sudden everyone loves the first game. How quickly people's opinions change. It's not like 1 has suddenly changed or improved much from 2. I found both games to be quite crappy looter shooters.
I barely played 2 but from what I did it was decent. Nothing too groundbreaking but I liked the concept of the game. One of the bigger problems I heard about the 1st game it that the enemies were extreme bullet sponges.
I laughed out loud when Yong called Madden players intelligent people who buy these games year after year...Love you dude but dont insult intelligence..

Polishing it's might take 10 to a 100 times longer, but that's called planning, teamwork and talent. I don't think he realizes the type of people to play these games aren't knowledgable of the market or medium at all. They buy Madden, CoD, and maybe some AAA game like Spiderman, and don't engage with gaming in any other way.

There are plenty of "casual gamers" that understand when something is a rip-off or sh*t because they still pay attention to the medium. They just play Looter Shooter's but know when the games go on sale or what companies are sh*t. The people who play Madden don't even go that far, they buy the shiny game on the shelf without question. They aren't intelligent when it comes to games more often than not.

The Sims team did respond to the backlash over the Star Wars pack by saying they'll do better, they actually listed some things players have been requesting for years (also saying those things aren't coming this year) and that there's a new stuff pack coming later this year. It felt like lip service, but I think most of the community is going to wait and see. Needless to say if the stuff pack is a dlc for the Star Wars pack, the community will probably roast the devs.

It's amazing, every game is unnecessarily becoming a live service now except for the one genre that that platform would massively benefit. I've been wanting sports games to chill with the annual releases and maybe just do yearly updates instead, for quite some time. Hopefully this breaks the camel's back.

I watched Netflix's new series about gaming and there was a chapter talking with Tripp Hawkins about how he got John Madden's support back in the 80s. EA wanted to make Madden 7v7 instead 11v11 like the NFL because computers weren't powerful enough to simulate 22 players at a time. Madden wouldn't allow his name to be on a 7v7 game so EA worked their asses off to make it work 11v11. EA works harder at scamming people than actually making good games.
Not sure who to laugh at...EA or people who buy Madden games. I guess I shouldn't laugh at the one making millions upon millions of dollars.

EA literally have one guy updating the rosters, kits, changing the color on all of the UI, Changed some sliders to make gameplay feel a little different. Then they slap a label on it and call it a brand new game and make BILLIONS from it.
Then the same people who bought it last year who have accrued a ton of additional content (that should be in the game anyway) with recurrent in-game spending now buy pretty much the same game, wiping out all of their gained content, only to do it all over again and then go on Reddit to tell everyone to stop bad-mouthing EA. How can one thing make me laugh so much and yet be so angry at the same time?

@Lucius Fawkes If they weren't always so stupid, then competition would be trivial; make a College Bowl game that you play in your own division, and roster changes are much more dramatic, so the game has a legitimate reason to change every year. Making one game and updating for $20 a year to reflect a four year rotation would probably catch much more interest, so you only really need to make a new game every four years.

I stopped playing Madden years ago. This game has been, and still is, garbage. Anyone paying $60+ a year for this trash are fools.
Even worse is when these games go to the bargain bin as soon as the new one comes out. You simply could be a year behind the new releases and get the games for 1/3 the price.
@@dhgmrz17 The Scarcity exists in that the online component only works against people who play the same version. If all die hard's upgrade around the same time and abandon the older version you pretty much get to play with people who are not die hard.

People aren't just UNDERSTANDABLY upset. They're JUSTIFIABLY upset. I tapped out of sports games a long time ago for this exact reason. They are cash grabs. There's nothing to them and because the genre is a kinda locked in niche, publishers just turn the heat up over time and there's nowhere for the players to go.

Back before GameStop became a complete joke, I had a cashier tell me some sage advice: Buying a sports game is like buying a new car. You lose value buying it new, and if you don’t mind out of date rosters (More of a moot point now with community rosters) pick the game used for $20-30 down the road.

NHL hasn't even bothered to integrate the "new" Frostbite engine. I refuse to purchase a new NHL game (2018 is my most recent) until that's done as everything else is just window dressing since it doesn't modify the important thing: gameplay.

I know most people wont see my comment, but thank you so much for talking about Madden on social media and here. My friends and I are die hard Madden Franchise players, and we're still playing Madden 18 because there has been no reason to upgrade since. Every year we just hope it gets better, but each game has been worse and worse. Seeing so many people actually begin talking about all of this gives EA's failure all the exposure it deserves has been a little gratifying for us. God knows if anything changes, and all the 'promised franchise updates' for Madden 21 look benign and lazy... But thank you for shining a light on this area of gaming a lot of people don't care about, but my friends and I do.
The fact that you and your friends are diehard Madden fans and haven't upgraded just goes to show that you value your money more and that you have brains that you use. There are so many mindless drones that just buy the new Madden every time. It's good to see there are people like you for a change.

As someone who used to like Pokemon games and games made by Bethesda... I feel you. The only way to vote is with your wallet though sadly there seems to be an overwhelming amount of idiots who don't care even if they spend 60€ or more for half assed games. It's so sad how almost every company that was beloved in the past has taken the path for maximum profit while disregarding their fans and reputation.

This has been a perfect storm. We’ve been cooped up inside for months, sports got delayed for months, and season lengths reduced. We’ve had no preseason football, no Hall of Fame game. So Madden 21 is the first NFL football we’re encountering in 7 months. And EA proceeds to give us the glitchiest and most lazily put together game in the history of the franchise.
So the current situation was already going to put a bigger than normal spotlight on the game, and they gave us one ugly pig under that spotlight.
And to add to that, their PR team this time around seems to almost be itching for a fight. And again, our tempers have already been shortened by COVID. So if they want a fight, they’re pissing off people at the wrong time.

Being a developer, I understand that it is hard to get all bugs out. However, there is no excuse to be releasing the same, buggy code year after year. People who use your software expect bugs to be fixed. Clint's reaction is abysmal and I as a leader developer would have been fired for comments like his and taking the attitude that he has. Shame on EA.
Here’s a brainstorm. What if the Madden series took a live service route and released a SINGLE game with a subscription service that is updated with each football season for multiple years? Would that work? No more yearly releases and no more copy paste jobs. Just a single game being consistently updated with new players, patches, and rebalancing for a decade

That is exactly how a competently implemented live service works, and sports games were originally seen as the perfect way for that model to work. However, up til now, sports fans just shoved their money at publishers and developers, so why would the EA's of the world implement a fair model that doesn't get them ALLthe money. Hopefully, this is the beginning of change, but tone deaf answers like this, free game giveaways and sponsored Co tent, and patches will likely wash out the noise unless the outrage is sustained.

yobama barrack rockstar does very minimal upgrades. The Map itself has not changed since it came out except for different type of doors for bunkers, clubhouses, and other businesses. I put 35+ days into that game and realized it just was not worth it.

@@dedcellmmbr6988 Actually the devs themselves are constantly at work with fixing Cyberpunk. Quite a few openly said they know of the problems and are rectifying them. They've also promised adding certain missing features. So the devs themselves are fine in my book. It's the higher-ups at CDPR that messed everything up by forcing the game out before the devs were finished.

I still remember when ESPN 2K5 used to allow you to create individual drills and 2 a days. extra stress on different cover schemes. and the thing about the game was that it used to have a mid game and post game rundown. i still get on my ps2 and play it sometimes. nowadays, franchise mode doesn't even have SB celebration any different from MD12. its actually kinda sad. Ive seen 8th graders put more effort into their computer lab flash animations.

Everyone knows how these yearly sports games work - Do the minimum amount of work and try to include seasonal characters and teams and try to do better next year, since the yearly sports title buyers are the least demanding customers there are.
That's seriously the reason why they test all the worst things in these sports titles and than wonder why normal players don't like that stuff. Microtransactions, loot boxes, overpriced skins, time savers, cut dlc content and origins "we can simply search your pc and sell whatever we find on it to whoever we want to" all started with those types of games...
