    I recently did a video on how to get out of sticky situations and the long and short of it is, the more prepared you are when you DJ the less likely you’ll even find yourself in a sticky situation, so in this video I will share with you some common ways to organise and even categories your music and DJ playlists so you're ready for any eventuality.

    I've recently started organizing my playlists by vibe / venue. Examples: pool party, rooftop, daytime, nighttime. I also use adjectives. It helps me focus on the feeling of the music instead of the genre. It also helps my brain process all of my new music a lot quicker.

    I've messed around with organising my play lists so many times but finally have a method that works for me
    I have one for genres, and each genre I further organise into sub folders of mashups, popular, and underground
    I then have a big folder of personal crates, which I then sub folder into venues, time ect. But also have some random folders for scenario based (eg. Opener went too hard lmao)

  • @djquikdr
    @djquikdr 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    To make life more easier make sure (when importing new songs) to update the following tags: Genre, BPM, Rating, Key, Energy Level, Date. When you have all these tags up to date per song it is very easy to make a playlist based on the explanation in this video. In Serato you can use smart crates for example.

    Very good point about transitions before the chorus of the track in current play. As an attendee at clubs the crowd would always get bumped out if the DJ cut the chorus.
    Remembering back quite a few years the DJ cut Shake it Out by Florence +The Machine remixed by Benny Benassi. It was a club crasher. After that it took a while to get the vibe back.
    You always make great points Andrew.👍

    I used to do the folders thing but started using the ID3 tags and extra columns to categorise them instead, can list under multiple categories with tags but can be a tiny bit more work. Mp3tag is an awesome bit of kit.

    I do mine in stages 1-5 from a literal warmup to closing. But then i have bpm Playlists in them folders from 80-110 etc. No need for genre folders as I’ve already put it in the metadata so i just filter by the genre in either my rx2 or cdjs. Then i have separate folders at the root which are my go too’s so it’s quick to access. If it’s a big event I’d just make an entire separate folder. Never organised in the order I’d play it in though as you never know what can happen. I took this structure from my friend ramin at solid grooves. It helped me out a lot since i used to only do it by genre.

    What I would do is if I was playing at a club that wanted say tech house played what I would do is make a folder and name it the clubs name with the date and then I would make a tech house playlist and I would go even deeper and make folders under that playlist and I would organize songs by BPM and style and depending on what time it was I would organize my playlist by opening songs, middle of the night songs and then closing songs.

      @@pension4273 I will check it out thanks but i am not certain if its much different than syncing Folders on separate computers with Dropbox ect where you need a copy of your Music on the Cloud.
      Its not practicle for my purposes with about 1 Terrabyte of Digital Music.
      I can easily keep the actual music Archives synced (master Archive on PC, Slave portable HDD for Laptop) its more the PC and Laptop BOTH have their own Serato Folder in Root 'Music' folder and both their own Serato folder, one on a internal Master Music Archive on PC and then a Serato folder on the Portable HDD for Laptop Music.
      Its more how to keep them 'merged' so when i make changes on say PC i can easily set up something with a few clicks to make them same changes/sync x2 Serato folders on Laptop+portable HDD to reflect the changes i made on PC and Vise Versa.
