Someone's gotta take all the fluff out of post-secondary courses. Find a way to make those courses as lean as possible so prices can come down and students can find employment ASAP. Because while college educated people earn more on average, does that factor-in the money they could have made during their time out of the workforce while at school? Or tuition costs?
On net, I believe it's more complex.

Tuition costs in the US are just crazy (even more so for international students). I got 2 kids in uni, they have EU passports, and it was never a possibility for them to come and study in the US. Tuition in France in public university is basically free, in Germany it is a couple hundred euros a year, and in the Netherlands EUR2250. And in Switzerland, ETZH, which is Albert Einstein's alma mater is less than USD1500 a year. Part of this is because universities provide mostly only education and don't have to have useless facilities to justify high tuition - my son is a marketing student in Amsterdam and his exam center is in the same building as the municipal morgue... (whilst a lot of for profit US universities compete on having the best infrastructure - sometimes leisure infrastructure) . However, where private student housing is concerned then we also see now excesses in Europe because there is such a focus on luxury housing solutions...

Corporations themselves need to get out of politics and wokeness.

There will always be hordes of people flocking to these "brand name" institutions even if employers are widening their net and considering talent from other colleges/universities. The brand integrity is just that strong. However, this is positive news for kids who went to an "off-brand" school that has a strong program in their chosen field. Recruiting talent from a broader swath of institutions is such a boon for most organizations anyway. It encourages diversity of thought and approach, which leads to innovation.

Our firm has set it's resume crawler to just reject Ivy League applications and a host of other schools that have been churning out "activists." They're just more trouble than they're worth. Endless bs with HR, potential lawsuits over every percieved slight, etc, etc. We never even see the application.
Best place we've found to recruit is the state AG schools. AG business grads have enough knowledge about basic business to function at a foundational level, they're teachable, and they're farm kids, which means they have certain grounding in reality.

@@rexmasters1541 How so? We're not descriminating against any of the protected classes. We just don't look at applications from certain schools and we recruit directly in most cases.
Do you really think we didn't run this past legal? The same kind of law firms that only hire Harvard Law grads and loudly trumpet that fact?

I keep seeing BS comments like this popping up on hiring/recruitment focused videos. Complete fictitious nonsense. ETA: I re-read your comment and as someone who works with entities in the Ag/Life Sciences space I had to laugh at you thinking that grads from Ag schools aren't activists LOL. It sounds like you have more of an issue with the younger generation than any specific school.

@@haute03 Last time I checked my company's policy and crawler settings were not ficticious. I personally instituted them.
Your assertion that they are ficticious is ludicrous in that you have no idea who you're replying to.
And even if we didn't have such settings, even if we granted an actual interview, the unspoken reality is that it will not result in a hire. Ever...again.
We've been burned and we're not getting burned again.

This big conclusion off a survey of 300 people? I don’t think this is numeric proof at all. Much closer to anecdotal. Please widen the survey would have been an interesting story.
