As someone who worked within xbox for 12 years this brings back memories - I still have all of these in working condition:) and a one off a kind xbox 360.
I remember in like 2004 I was spending the night with a cousin and we were playing Halo 2 and we randomly ran into my brother. He was on the enemy team. We lost so hard.
The original Xbox always had this aesthetic to it that made me feel like it was an alien bomb or something. It was so cool to me. That start up intro was badass!
My step dad was all into ancient aliens and caught those weird bient sounds that would happen if you left it on the dashboard long enough, he looked into it and I guess the guys at Microsoft added that stuff in to enhance that cutting edge/alien technology angle
It was fast. When they changed the UI I would always hit the Xbox button to look for settings or whatever. It was essentially the old school blade style.
1:18 There's another Easter Egg I'm surprised nobody ever talks about. Yes, if you stay idle for a certain amount of time, it will play recordings of the apollo mission. But if you press Y, X fast on the main menu screen, it will lock the menu in place. Preventing it from moving around. After you do that and you keep it idle again, it will play a recording from _Zero Wing_ , a 1989 video game, that says "All your base are belong to us". It's in the same robotic sounding voice as the Apollo Easter egg. And it says it fast. But if you listen closely, I promise you'll hear your XBox say the _Zero Wing_ easter egg.

The 360 has less bugs than the One. It's crazy how the last generation has a system that's superior to the newer generation. The Halo 3 days were the best days of Xbox.

Perhaps A remastered version because formatting the ui's for current hardware would be difficult and wouldn't cover the entire screen as well as it being distractingly pixelated compared to the games you would be playing

I recently replayed Mechassault 1 and 2, and the UI was just as cool as I remembered it being; even without the pure nostalgia affect, lol. The cool sci-fi sound effects and background noise were especially cool.
I miss the Xbox One before 2017 where if you went back to home screen while your game was still on, you’d see your game still on and active in the large main window and you scrolled around the home screen.

I was too young to expirience the glory days of Halo 3 on the 360 (was still playing Lego Star Wars then) but I still expirience an occational echo from those days on the Master Cheif Collection.
I haven't played much of the online, but you never hear anyone ingame, people don't party up after matches, over half the playlists for each game are missing and no one seems to play custom games, hell I was looking for a Halo 3 playlist that had Valhalla in the map rotation there wasn't one....
Yea most of the people on my friends list have moved away from the 360, and some never even played it... only a few of my friends remain on the 360. I still adore my Xbox 360, and I do still play XB1 alot, but it’s sad

Ya the current one lags sooo much, I have my games on external ssd because I filled the internal storage of the ONE X and that was a big mistake I click left on dpad and two seconds later it would move me to the next tile if I’m lucky most of the time it freezes and even with all games on external 1TB SSD I still have lag (turn off smooth transitions helps but doesn’t solve the lagging the current dashboard has. I like the last dashboard pre 2017( New Xbox Experience). My favourite is the metro dash from Xbox 360. Hate how slow my Xbox one X feels (most powerful console). Also why in hell when I install a game through Xbox game pass and it takes me to Microsoft store do I have to press back like 2,3 times to get back to see the other Xbox game pass titles available. Also ads suck on a 500$ console. Hate auto play on the store sooo annoying and the videos are not easy to pause. Thank God it has a setting to turn off auto play if not I was seriously considering returning my Xbox. This UI that we have now is worse to me than the original Xbox one UI that launched with the console

I miss the time when I first got the Xbox one. It felt really social with the “friends” slide. I also miss the snap feature because I could listen to music on TH-cam whilst playing forza (this was before the Spotify app came out). The snap feature worked perfectly for me and I just wish the bring it back

I never had an Xbox or Xbox 360 or the launch Xbox One. I always owned PlayStation. But I got the X and I can tell you right now this new one is probably the best interface ever. It’s super easy to use although it’s all I know from Xbox. I love it. It wasn’t hard to jump ship. It’s great. Don’t crucify me but after seeing this video, I don’t think I liked any of the other ones. I think it’s perfect the way it is right now. Just my opinion though
People talk a lot of trash on Xbox, but Xbox's UI's have always been far more superior than PlayStation's, in my opinion. Sony really need to ditch their outdated PS3 design.
Xbox 360 had many great titles such as gears of war, mirrors edge and I loved playing left for dead with friends online.. so many fun memories:) one of the greatest consoles of all time
Miss the snap feature. I liked the 2015 one cause you can see your messages when you turn it on instead of having to open up the menu and check for messages.

Interestingly enough, the NXE and Kinect update designs mirror the "twist" interface of Windows Media Center, whereas the "metro" update's design very strongly mirror's the layout of Zune. Also, the Kinect update is what introduced the more "flat" visuals, shortly before the metro update came about with the major layout change.
the last xbox one dash you showed was honestly the best. it brought a lot of social features into the xbox, which i really liked, but now it feels static and there’s not a lot of discovery of game clips and communities anymore
The Blades dashboard was definitely the best IMO. Very simple, and calming in a way, and also very modern as well. Id often times press the bumpers really fast just to hear the woosh sound flipping through the blades.
There was another update to the "NXE" 360 design. It kinda had the brighter dashboard design but the row/column layout. It didn't last long but it came out around the time of halo ce anniversary
Ah yes, and if you did it right you could get to the orelands but first you had to go through the bloodstone biome, the alien biome, and yeah it was crazy.
I remember so many people would be online too... now there’s like 5 games online and soon they’ll probably close the server for the 360 sadly. I bought it in 2012 when I was 9 with Microsoft points and I thought I was a badass because my parents wouldn’t let me play games with killing and guns in it at that time. It was such a fun game to play all the time and I wanted to get dragon endurance so bad and it was fun to travel far away from spawn. I was also really scared of the zombies when I was 9 but I got over it pretty quickly lmao
I remember at my old house, download speeds in the city i lived in were literally 130kb/s MAX. If i saw a game or system update, i knew i wasnt playing any games that day. Good times.
its funny seeing things like this and hearing about that struggle becuz i grew up with a ps2 and played it for 8 years straight until i moved on to other consoles all i had to do was pop in the disc, make sure my memory card was in, and bam i was all set for the amazing game lineup the ps2 has
I sure do miss the minimized screen the Xbox One had early in its life. There was something novel about hitting the xbox button on your controller, and just zooming out onto your dashboard with the game still running on screen.
Surely if you are experienced with how these controller worked you could use the board from the Xbox One remote and somehow get it to fit with the Xbox 360 Chassis with a little tweak. It would take alot of effort, and might become a long term project. Especially because of how different the Xbox One's controller are designed compared to the 360's.

I was too young to expirience the glory days of Halo 3 on the 360 (was still playing Lego Star Wars then) but I still expirience an occational echo from those days on the Master Cheif Collection.

I haven't played much of the online, but you never hear anyone ingame, people don't party up after matches, over half the playlists for each game are missing and no one seems to play custom games, hell I was looking for a Halo 3 playlist that had Valhalla in the map rotation there wasn't one....

Ya the current one lags sooo much, I have my games on external ssd because I filled the internal storage of the ONE X and that was a big mistake I click left on dpad and two seconds later it would move me to the next tile if I’m lucky most of the time it freezes and even with all games on external 1TB SSD I still have lag (turn off smooth transitions helps but doesn’t solve the lagging the current dashboard has. I like the last dashboard pre 2017( New Xbox Experience). My favourite is the metro dash from Xbox 360. Hate how slow my Xbox one X feels (most powerful console). Also why in hell when I install a game through Xbox game pass and it takes me to Microsoft store do I have to press back like 2,3 times to get back to see the other Xbox game pass titles available. Also ads suck on a 500$ console. Hate auto play on the store sooo annoying and the videos are not easy to pause. Thank God it has a setting to turn off auto play if not I was seriously considering returning my Xbox. This UI that we have now is worse to me than the original Xbox one UI that launched with the console

I miss the time when I first got the Xbox one. It felt really social with the “friends” slide. I also miss the snap feature because I could listen to music on TH-cam whilst playing forza (this was before the Spotify app came out). The snap feature worked perfectly for me and I just wish the bring it back

I never had an Xbox or Xbox 360 or the launch Xbox One. I always owned PlayStation. But I got the X and I can tell you right now this new one is probably the best interface ever. It’s super easy to use although it’s all I know from Xbox. I love it. It wasn’t hard to jump ship. It’s great. Don’t crucify me but after seeing this video, I don’t think I liked any of the other ones. I think it’s perfect the way it is right now. Just my opinion though

Xbox 360 had many great titles such as gears of war, mirrors edge and I loved playing left for dead with friends online.. so many fun memories:) one of the greatest consoles of all time
Mirror's Edge sucked on console, bumpers just didn't work anywhere near as well as space/ctrl.

4:18 the combination of the music and the xbox dashboard instantly started giving me flashbacks of playing through castle crashers with some buds in the good ol' days
Interestingly enough, the NXE and Kinect update designs mirror the "twist" interface of Windows Media Center, whereas the "metro" update's design very strongly mirror's the layout of Zune.
Also, the Kinect update is what introduced the more "flat" visuals, shortly before the metro update came about with the major layout change.
A console powered my Mountain Dew would make a dual 2080ti system feel like a flip phone.
the last xbox one dash you showed was honestly the best. it brought a lot of social features into the xbox, which i really liked, but now it feels static and there’s not a lot of discovery of game clips and communities anymore
The Blades dashboard was definitely the best IMO. Very simple, and calming in a way, and also very modern as well. Id often times press the bumpers really fast just to hear the woosh sound flipping through the blades.

There was another update to the "NXE" 360 design. It kinda had the brighter dashboard design but the row/column layout. It didn't last long but it came out around the time of halo ce anniversary

I remember so many people would be online too... now there’s like 5 games online and soon they’ll probably close the server for the 360 sadly. I bought it in 2012 when I was 9 with Microsoft points and I thought I was a badass because my parents wouldn’t let me play games with killing and guns in it at that time. It was such a fun game to play all the time and I wanted to get dragon endurance so bad and it was fun to travel far away from spawn. I was also really scared of the zombies when I was 9 but I got over it pretty quickly lmao

its funny seeing things like this and hearing about that struggle becuz i grew up with a ps2 and played it for 8 years straight until i moved on to other consoles all i had to do was pop in the disc, make sure my memory card was in, and bam i was all set for the amazing game lineup the ps2 has
I sure do miss the minimized screen the Xbox One had early in its life. There was something novel about hitting the xbox button on your controller, and just zooming out onto your dashboard with the game still running on screen.

Surely if you are experienced with how these controller worked you could use the board from the Xbox One remote and somehow get it to fit with the Xbox 360 Chassis with a little tweak. It would take alot of effort, and might become a long term project. Especially because of how different the Xbox One's controller are designed compared to the 360's.
