What a wonderful gesture!! I am sure Dick Winters would be proud and humbled by this. It had to be an emotional and surreal experience. To be standing on sacred grounds, walk the path that our heros tread, and the honor to those who have fallen, this is the best video from your entire video collection! Well done. RIP to all that have perished in this horrible war.
I am so thankful I found your channel. I spent 7 years as a paratrooper and served in Afghanistan and I still feel like a grain of sand in comparison to the men these guys were. Thanks for honoring them.
JD ,........ Morning coffee and another emotional vlog from your channel is quite overwhelming. I am not ashamed to say that there are tears in my eyes. Again your presentation has made your followers feel as if we have witnessed the actual battle.
Its been honor to watch returning of Dick Winters artifacts to Brecourt Manor. What a great cooperation between museums, and friends. Thank You to all of You for so awesome work 🙏
I have read the book Band of Brothers and watched the HBO series multiply times. Watching your videos are so amazing. Now knowing who Dick Winters and the airborne accomplished during DDay and DDay + was unbelievable. True heroes. Lest We Forget the brave young men which fought for our freedom. 🇺🇲🇬🇧🇨🇦
Books by the men of the 506th are also good. For example: Shifty's War by Shifty Powers is hands down my favorite book by the original men. Best of Friends, Brothers in Battle by Gaurnere and Heffron is also a good one.
Another fantastic film, Major Dick Winters was a remarkable man. A real American hero. I was in the US in 2018 visiting family, we went up to Lancaster to visit a friend, while there I noticed a sign for Ephrata where I new Dick Winters was buried, I would have loved to pay my respects to the great man, but we just didn't have the time . RIP great man.
There is a lump in my throat watching this. The American/French relationship and bond is special, most notably in this part of France. The owners of Brecourt could easily tire of the swarms of us just trying to catch a glimpse of history. So thankful for their kindness and appreciation. One of my most treasured selfies has the Brecourt field behind me taken on June 5th, 2019. Well done again JD and Erik.
@David Willis ... not so fast David. Why didn't Charles de Vallavieille's grandfather sabotage those big guns on D-Day? Was he afraid for his life? Not a good enough reason considering what 19 yr old American boys from 6000 miles away were being asked to do. And for that matter why didn't 10 million Frenchmen rise up after the Nazi occupation and do that all over France? No lame excuses please. Let's face it, they let the Americans, British and Canadians do it because they knew we could and they could not ... or dared not.
The legacy and heroism that Dick Winters leaves behind is something to honor for generations. And you can easily see the sincerity in Charles when presented those items. Truly astounding and humbling…..
Germany only wanted what had been taken/stolen from them in the Treaty of Versailles. After the war, General Patton said that we have fought the wrong enemy. Ask yourself why America chose to support communist Russia and communist China. Had we not gotten involved, Hitler would have destroyed communism and made peace with the rest of Europe. All of his writings spoke of his love for his British cousins that Germans had so much in common with. He had no desire to fight them, as he proved at Dunkirk, where he could have annihilated Briton's army but chose not to. Learn your history before you embrace it.
@@braderwin9620 : Huh... What !!??? Germany bombed Britain in 1940, and Pearl Harbor took place on 7Dec1941. Your argument is ludicrous. Think about it. 'Nuff said.
@@allengrant Germany invaded Poland Sept 1, 1939. France and England declared war on Germany 2 days later. However, when Russia invaded Poland two weeks later, France and England did not declare war on them. It was one year after England declared war on them that Germany attacked England. ONE full year. And they only did so, in hopes that England would negotiate a peace agreement. Hitler had already sent Churchill several letters insuring him that Germany did not want war with them. It was 8 months before Germany attacked France, after France had declare war on them. Clearly, France and England's reason for declaring war on Germany had nothing to do with anything Germany had done to them. And if it was because Germany invaded Poland, why didn't they declare war on Russia when they also invaded Poland two weeks after Germany did?

Knowing what Dick Winters means to America's heritage and history (AND France's), it took all of 0:08 seconds to well up. After seeing Monsieur Charles well up himself and be at a loss for words, the waterworks started. There will NEVER be enough words to describe the bravery and heroism Winters and his Band of Brothers exhibited and exuded.
