    It's nice to hear about Truly Devious! I love books where mental illness rep is present but doesnt monopolize the story. I can definitely relate to loving crime/mystery but experiencing increased anxiety as a result.

    I know a lot of people DO NOT like this book and don’t agree with what it does and says but I love “All the bright places”. I felt a genuine connection to the book in so many ways. While I can see the problems it does have I just have such a connection to the book.

      That book tore me apart if I'm being honest. Suicide and death and that sort of thing isn't found much, especially not in romance novels. I wouldn't recommend the book for those of the faint of heart.

    I think you would like Before She Ignites by Jodi Meadows because it shows a girl with anxiety deal with issues that are happening. I loved it because it showed that "celebrities" or like a no matter how famous you are mental health is real. Having anxiety, I felt so connected to the main character, and it really illustrates some types of anxiety attacks and coping mechanisms.

    Hi Emma, just thought I’d share my (not so) funny story. No, it isn’t funny at all actually.
    When I watched part 1 of this video (yes, over a year ago), I was in a really REALLY bad place. I was struggling with generalised anxiety and depression. I still am, but when you posted this video today, I couldn’t help but remember the way I was feeling then and compare it to the way I’m feeling now. It’s still hard, but I am much better now.
    The point is, actually there are two points to this comment. One is that I really do think content like this can actually help someone who is struggling with mental illness - feeling validated and understood is a huge part of dealing with it. So thank you for that!
    The second point is that I thought by sharing this, it might give someone hope that YES things do get better! So don’t you dare give up! Remember that you’re not alone; there are people who have been in your situation and things got better for them, just as they are going to for you as well.
    Anyway, as always, love your videos. Have a good day ^-^

    • @CamilaGo
      @CamilaGo 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@zombieedrea i already finished it and i gotta say its very triggering. I went to a similar situation and i turmed to alcohol and drugs to cope with, which lead to a really dangerous and life threatening addiction. It's been 3 years since it happened and I've recently told someone for the first time. Actually I last time told my mom for the first time. The reason i did was because i relapsed. I dont know if it was because of this book but it took me three days to read it and i spent most of those three days drunk. Until then, i was almost 2 years sober. Now im starting again. Im on day two. I feel like its a long way to go and i cant imagine myself reaching 2 years again. But i have to. Therea no other choice. Those two years sober were the best of my life and i want to go back to that.

    Challenger deep is mind blowing. Its my favourite mental health book. Another great one, but is just a fantasy novella, is The Slow Regard of Silent Things by patrick Rothfuss as character a portrayal of OCD/psychosis/schizophrenia if it is to be labelled. But you would have to read the main books first (so worth it).
    Some of my other favourites are Turtles all the way down (lighter), All the bright places and The first time she drowned by Kerry Kletter.

    These videos make me happy, it's nice to find so many amazing books with mental health representation. It's something i've been very interested in as of late, since i myself have been suffering from anxiety for a while now. I feel like these books can make mental health a more visible issue and it's definitely what everyone needs.
    Also, is one of your shelves backwards? The one under my plain jane 🤔

    I need to pick up Truly Devious...I love true crime but like you, it also triggers my anxiety.
