Hey my brother, great to see you still making videos. Old school subscriber here.
Really great video. A reasonable mindset is key. I myself am starting to jump back in and it seems prices on certain things are slowly dropping which from a collectors perspective is a relief. I myself got out of the hobby since spring and have been just waiting for things to calm down. I would love a general update on where we sit, what’s happened, and tips for those hopping back in. Maybe that would be a good video idea?
Anyway, nice to see you brother. Best regards.

Thank you. Jake, you continue to be a voice of reason and logic in a space where “pokepositivity” is so prevalent. Like during 2020, you will probably continue fighting an uphill battle against the entertainment channels who are “casually” offering investment advice. I think the problem can sometimes be the marriage of entertainment and financial advice. Some may watch to “stonk out” and find out how they can make money. Others may watch because they like you, and/or they like cards.
Things can be both, but these channels I’m referring to are more about pokepositivity and fun. Nothing wrong with positivity- but it can get toxic like negativity. For example, that comment you made about people being called “haters” for critical thinking. Not everything in Pokémon can be a great investment, even if you are a diehard fan of the IP. Otherwise we’d all be millionaires!

Ig u gotta try to balance ur risk. Have some very risky items u believe in and some safer long-term items. I feel like genuine interest in the hobby can really tune you into what's going on and understanding value, and what's potentially undervalued. It really just arms you to take those risks more responsibly

investors are often bias so negative talk is taken personal by allot. some might be open to new info, but they are probably are less bias. also sometimes a negative person might be seen to have an own agenda, such as going short or looking for a step in price

It's critical thinking! Good critical thinking will keep a person out of a lot of tough spots, and part of that is taking in the downside of a direction. Great thoughts, as always!

Want to make more money in Pokémon ? Advertise your cards as "PSA 10 ?" Or tell them "buy now no more reprints comming" Another great oneliner is "buy now this will only go up"

Hater, definitely not. Those that watch your channel would know that you actually care almost too much about your fellow collectors.

Signs of somebody I would consider a genius: Somebody who knows that even though they make an educated guess, they can still be wrong, even in ways not even a genius could forsee. The most important thing is understand the risk you take, understand the item and everything connected to that item.
As a business I don't really invest, but I buy collections and raw cards to sell or grade. The biggest 'mistake' or risk I see people take is looking at a few pictures of a card and think 'man that's a 10'. You can't tell by a few pictures if a card is truly minty.
People seem to put on their 'Look at the price of this in PSA 10!' goggles on, when they should be putting their 'There is no way this is a 10, let me find the defect.' goggles on in stead. Be as negative as you can when going into a purchase, that way you can only be happily surprised in stead of be disappointed!
