    I do have a certain affection for Clive Anderson (mainly for facilitating that wonderful Peter Cook appearance)
    But Benn absolutely runs rings around him here in terms of both his wit and wonderfully humble sense of humour.
    He really highlights the vacuousness of the particular line of questioning exhibited on these types of chat show.
    What a delight. A sorely missed soul and absolute inspiration.

      Of course the electoral system doesn't care about that; it's SPECIFICALLY designed to not care about that because it overrides the votes. Also...it has no emotions and therefore...doesn't care about anything.
      The host however, is a human and therefore, CAN and SHOULD care about that. Because, by omitting that fact, he INTENTIONALLY IMPLIED that the Labour party was VOTED OUT BY THE PEOPLE who had benefited from the Labour party's leadership. Which subliminally suggested that the Labour party's leadership was unappreciated and rejected by the voters.
      It's actually a perfect example of how Corporatist Doublespeak is consistently used to delegitimize the successes of the truly Liberal Labour party.

      Well, we did have someone with very similar political views as leader of the Labour Party, and with a real chance of being PM. But then the British establishment, & their big media lackeys in particular, decided they were having none of it. He was constantly smeared and undermined and ultimately forced out. I agree with you that we need more politicians like Tony Benn. Trouble is, even if and when we have them, there's no chance - the forces of darkness are too entrenched in this country.

      You think the police shouldn't do anything for people who can't afford to pay them for it?

    • @bigbaz8314
      @bigbaz8314 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I never said that, I'm merely suggesting that the word free is being used when its not free in the slightest, its free if you don't pay tax but for the rest of the people it is not free. The tax payer over pays for these services as we have to pay bureaucrats and non tax payers as well as the service. Free is a word that the left like to use when its clearly not the case that these services are free.

    • @GiantSandles
      @GiantSandles 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You basically said it's unfair that those who don't pay taxes (which I assume was mostly aimed at people who can't afford to pay them) get to access to health care and policing that they don't pay for so I don't think that's an unreasonable assumption to make

    • @moonshakedesign7633
      @moonshakedesign7633 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Who said it's free to those who don't pay taxes?
      The NHS was set up as system supported by the tax payer, not a charity.
      It's written in it's 1948 manifesto leaflet sent through the door of every British Citizen.
      It's not an issue of being "free" but rather as an institution owned by the people, not the private sector.
      It's "free" in the sense that you don't receive a bill or invoice for use of the service. Everybody contributes to its existence through taxes. The system props all of society up, regardless of their class.
      Are completely privatised public services which only the wealthy can enjoy the benefits of, "fair"?
      Do we really have to debate whether public ownership is "fair" or not?

    • @bigbaz8314
      @bigbaz8314 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Me, i said it, its surely obvious! If you don't pay tax and never have paid tax the NHS is completely free to you this is undebatable!!
      I can't believe you would suggest that public ownership being unfair is not up for debate, thats just a ludicrous statement to make, the most obvious starting point being the former soviet union! Was this a fair society in your opinion? Almost every industry was state owned!
      Im not naive enough to think capitalism is perfect but i know id rather live in a society were there is freedom of capital rather than being slave to the state!
      State ownership is in itself a total monopoly, if the state owns the railways then its illegal for anyone to come along and compete, therefore the state can charge as it wants and if its a poor service (which it will be) you can't go anywhere else! Is that fair? I could go on and on and on.
      Public ownership v private ownership is the very essence of political discourse, i can't believe someone would say that this isn't up for debate!!!
