I have one of these and got good service out of it for quite a few years. Moved up to a Redwing50, but thinking about getting a Coyote 80, especially since they are on sale right now. Good stuff at a good price.
I see that Kelty just came out with an updated Coyote 80 this month. Have you seen it? If so, what do you think of it? I'm looking to buy a Coyote 80, but I don't know whether I should buy the older model for a lot less money, or spend well over $200 for the latest version.
+James K Great question, The current model is really just a more-updated and refined version of this pack. The new one certainly has a better quick-access storage advantage, however they both fundamentally have the core features: detachable lid for a daypack, internal frame, top and front access. If you wanted my opinion, Kelty is a durable and time tested brand so I'd say go with the older model to save the money! If money isn't an issue, go for the new pack because the new features like the Hip strap pockets and outer buckle pocket most notably are great assets on the trail for quick access to navigation tools and rain gear respectively.
Got lucky on mine bought at goodwill for 15 dollars .so guess I got a deal .no tears no holes fits all my clothes and sleeping bag big bag
