  • Jun.18 -- In a special edition of "Front Row," Venezuela President Nicolas Maduro sits down exclusively with Bloomberg's Erik Schatzker. Maduro says he's extending an olive branch to the United States, and wants to have negotiations with President Joe Biden's administration to lift sanctions and return to a normal relationship. He also declares that Venezuela will welcome international investors, restructure its debt, and seek access to global capital markets. He also explains how the nation intends to rebuild an oil industry decimated by sanctions. This is the full interview.

@@prayunceasingly2029 Can be. Although, if you have a government made up of criminals, then believing that they will let you negotiate your "safe passage" is very optimistic. Maduro is the cornerstone of the government and removing only him, if possible, would expose an entire illegal business. Therefore, if you want to remove Maduro, then you must buy a "safe passage" for all those involved with him. Alex Saab is one of Maduro's most important front men, he has already been arrested in Cape Verde and it was a great blow to Maduro, so the key is to insolate Maduro

International recognition is not really relevant for statehood. Even the Montevideo Convention omits international recognition as a requirement to be a country. If international recognition were relevant, we'd see whole networks of countries that didn't recognize each other as legitimate. It's time to abandon absurd delusions of the grandeur of international recognition.
