  • Russia says its forces have downed eleven drones launched by Ukraine over the region of Rostov. Kyiv is increasingly relying on drones in its fight against Russia to make up for its lack of artillery power.
The unmanned aircraft are effective at destroying Russian defensive positions. But military analysts warn that drones alone won't be enough to win the war.

They are telling nonsense! They just find one thing after another to keep hope and justify the continuation of war despite heavy losses. There is no hope for Ukraine whatsoever. Ukraine is not the focus. West interest and pride are the issues. Even if Russia moves out, Ukraine is under billions and billions of dollars of debt while the country's infrastructure is almost non-existent. The whole demography of the country has changed due to immigration and casualties. Russia has several times more production of drones and more sophisticated drones plus a more sophisticated system for jamming drones. Just consider how long it took for the West to confess Russia has shell production several times of the whole collective West. Russia has a huge industrial complex. Whatever production line Ukriane builds will be destroyed. Drones are useful but by no means can replace destruction and suppression power of shells

well about 80% of casualties in this conflict is from artillery so... recently Russia have found ways to jam drones and cut of internet in the area of operation. so they've become less and less effective... even then often times the Ukrainians don't actually hit a target they just randomly fly them into houses etc and hope it gets somebody.

The conflict in Ukraine has proven that the EU has very weak air defense, and any drone for 500 euros can cause multi-billion dollar damage.

Drones and unmanned ships can be operated from anywhere. This is why the German Chancellor said NATO has already participated in the war. Ukraine will certainly continue to use drones and unmanned boats vigorously.
As long as they are on the Ukrainian side, no matter who controls them, it can be counted as a victory for Ukraine. On the other hand NATO can also participate remotely to avoid the excuse of direct participation in the war. This is also a way that NATO and Ukraine will feel harmonious and win-win.

NATO needs to invest more in drones. I'm doubtful that drones alone can win the war but they can certainly slow the Russians down, especially the ones hitting the oil refineries. To win the war NATO needs to put its economies into mass production mode and greatly increase the flow of weapons to Ukraine. The Ukrainians need mine-clearance equipment. The mines are on a scale that hasnt been seen since WW2 - I read about a 1 sq mile area with about 2,500 mines. NATO dithered too much in 2023 which was a missed opportunity, allowing Russia to build the Surovikin Line.

there seems to be some top down message about drones not being to win the war. I suspect it is monetarily driven. Drones can win the war,, simply put there is not the expertise or technology given to Ukraine to use gps satellite guidance for drones,, or shall I say previously set points where jamming will have no effect. Also as I have mentioned before there is tech where satellites relay signals and thus come directly towards the earth, not horizontal, or any obtuse angle. Thus a signal receiver that is protected and placed on top of drone will not be effected by jamming signals which emmenate from the ground.
There is also pulse guidance systems where the signal is pre programmed to be emitted and received at precise points in time,, thus evading the constant jamming waves that collectively shut down drones ( those jamming waves takes seconds to create an effect ).
This is just like every other invention,,, 'oh it will never work,', until someone figures out how to make it work!

If it good, both will use it. In drone cases, yeah both side employ it really well. Its drone warfare age at present time. We saw water drones put mission kill multiple expensive Russian ships, and we see the Russian Lancet destroying expensive Ukrainian stuff.
Its a good recon utility and eliminating the need to endanger a soldier to be a scout/sniper. A nice short range guided payload delivery system. Also, the anti drones jammers are developed simply because how effective drone is in a battlefield.

What is the fundamental reason that drones cannot replace artillery?
In artillery, a target is identified with ISR platforms, then a munition is delivered to the target by accelerating it to a high speed with high pressure generated by explosive combustion, and then by conservation of momentum.
For a drone, a target is identified with ISR platforms, then a munition is delivered to the target by electrically driven aerodynamic propellers, guided via wireless communication.
It seems in the end which is 'better' comes down to quantity, cost, and efficiency. Drone used here is basically a self-propelled munition, and if it can match per unit cost and lethality of artillery, why can it not substitute artillery in effect?

Drones are useful but by no means can replace the destruction and suppression power of shells. Each drone needs an operator to control it until the last minute of impact, though Russia already have made an AI-controlled drone, and its performance is unclear.

Zelensky didn't try to prevent the conflict through diplomacy because he lacks honor and integrity.
In 2014 there was a coup. Soon after, there was a massacre in Odessa (dozens of people were burned alive). Ethnic Russians living in Ukraine were treated as subhuman. Their language and culture was being oppressed. A civil war broke out due to the rise in ethnic tensions. For 8 years the Ukrainian military was indiscriminately shelling civilians living in Donbas.
If Zelensky honored the Minsk agreement and pledged neutrality, none of this would have happened. The 8 year civil war would have ended and Donbas would have remained part of Ukraine. War is the ultimate failure of diplomacy.
Zelensky admitted that Ukraine had no intention to honor the Minsk agreements.
Who didn't want peace? Who advised against the 2022 peace talks in April? Hint: someone visited Zelensky in Kiev at that time.
Russia's national security was compromised once nato began to expand eastwards. Russia clearly stated that Ukraine joining nato was a red line (November 2021) and unfortunately this concern was never taken seriously. The Russians openly stated: if nothing changes, we will be forced to act in order to defend our national security. Enhancing the national security of one country at the expense of another is unacceptable. The Russians have legitimate security concerns.
20th September, 2021. Ukraine launched military drills with US and NATO.
NATO is not a defensive alliance. Nato illegally bombed Yugoslavia (a direct violation of the U.N. Charter).
We should never forget what they did to Libya, Afghanistan, Iraq etc.
Who blew up the pipeline causing an environmental disaster?
Zelensky banned all opposition and arrested a leading priest.
Zelensky tried to invoke article 5 under false pretenses. Remember the incident in Poland.
Ethnic Russians living in Ukraine were treated as subhuman. Their language and culture was being oppressed.
Poroshenko said, “Our children will go to schools and kindergartens-theirs will hide in the basements”.
Russians will never forget the 2014 Odessa massacre. The whole world needs to know about it.
Why was Denis Kireev eliminated? He was a member of Ukraine's negotiating team during the peace negotiations. He wanted to help his country.
Ukraine has a hit list. They target artists, journalists and ordinary citizens. Hundreds of children are on this list. 13 year old Faina Savenkova was placed on this list.
Pink Floyd's Roger Waters is on this list. Jimmy Dore (American stand-up comedian, podcaster) and Aaron Maté (Canadian writer and journalist) are on this list.
There is evidence that Ukrainian troops have been indiscriminately shelling civilians in Donbas (they used petal mines and targeted areas where there was no military presence).
The azov troops trapped in the azovstal steelworks in Mariupol used human shields. They refused to allow civilians to leave despite of humanitarian corridors being present.
Russia held a proposed cease fire in order for the civilians to leave, but azov would not allow the civilians to leave.
Ukraine has committed many acts of terrorism (car bombs and other forms of assassination). Darya Dugina (journalist) RIP.
The first terrorist attack on the Kerch bridge killed the truck driver and the individuals in the adjacent car (innocent civilian victims).
The second terrorist attack on the Kerch bridge killed two parents and severely injured their young daughter.
I have done a lot of research and it took me a long time to write this comment. I have stated a lot of facts and I have given my honest opinion.
I have provided a brief summary of events that took place. In order to explain this whole situation in great detail, a book would need to be written.
Hopefully someone will write an UNBIASED book, stating facts and allowing the readers to form their own judgments. Everything I said can be fact checked and verified.
