Ah, stained glass of Sintra. I think i'd love you more if your older sibling wasn't so smart and pretty. Is it a bad game, no, not at all, but Azul is one hard act to follow.
I wish I played this version more often. At first, I was a little skeptical because it doesn't look nearly as good as the original, but the mechanics are much better in this one! Can we get an OG tile-Sintra hybrid game!? XD
To me it looks like it's more balanced, but less elegant and thrilling than the original. Not gonna go out of my way to pick this one up when azul still gets lots of play with my friends and family. Thanks for the video!
Summer Pavillion and the original Azul are lovely, neat games. Sintra is okay but it has a much higher "fiddle factor" (especially when flipping panels) which adversely affected the overall "game feel".
I love this game and have been playing it for a while...however, just before the lockdown malarky one of my friend got the original, and I have to say I also preferred it. Seeing those friends for the first time in a year and half of plague, for a weekend of gaming including Azul and the Abyss (another of your favs)
We have all of the Azul games, and I'm lukewarm on all of them. This one is definitely third in line to be played though, mostly because the lack of options in strategy. Either you play the most optimal order of columns, or lose. Thematically I really wanted this one to be my favorite, it's just not. We do play the other Azul games a lot though because so many people we know like them. Don't get me wrong, the original Azul is a great game, but there are two distinct types of gamers we play with, those who can grasp the scoring in Azul, and those who can't.
Summer pavilion is probably the deepest one, but also has the hardest scoring to grasp. Good point on the scoring system messing people up, i've seen that first hand.
Yes! You are on my team. I appreciate what Stained glass of Sintra tried to do and I can enjoy it. But I (we here at home) also prefer the original Azul. That is the one we still have at home to play and we keep repeating it. It seems like I can't get sick of it. Haven't tried Summer Pavilion though.
Love this game and going to see and stay with gaming friends for the first time in a year or more because of the Covid malarky, and they have Azul the original and I agree I think is is better both in simplicity and choices. Also taking The Abyss, another of your choices I have yet to play!

Great breakdown, I’ve played original and SP but never tried Sintra - one day at a BGC or con library 🙃

Should be doing a summer pavilion recap this time next week. My feelings on that one are a little more complex.
@@3MBG intriguing... (scratching my beard)
This one I understood. Sober now.
Lol. It makes a difference.
The sequel to past Spiel des Jahres winnner Azul
But more importantly, the sequel to 3 minute board games gold medal winning game Azul
@@3MBG that is correct. I love it. My son loves beating me at it

Looks like the captions for Canvas got copied in by accident?
Huh, weird. I manually added them. Let me check
Ooops, wrong file. Same name, different location on my drive. That'll teach me to rush. Thanks Robert, new subs are uploading now
Hmm... good video. Cemented my opinion that I don't need it in my collection. Azul is definitely much better and also looks better.
