I have a 6-7 year old horse who had 5-6 owners before me. She was at the barn where my mom was boarding and I heard that her current owner was going to sell her. She was originally bought to be a brood mare, as she has a previous injury to her hocks and really can't be ridden. I fell in love with that sweet girl and I felt so bad for her, so I bought her. I don't ride (due to a fear of heights/falling) and she can't be ridden, so it all works out. She's been mine for about 4 years now and I wouldn't trade her for any other horse in the world.
Agree and didn't use fear/pain tactics to force him to comply, which is like putting a bandaid on a wound. Too many equestrians still unaware, or incapable of implementing empathy (and patience) into their practices
He is absolutely stunning, what a darling. When I rescued any scared and thrown away ponies and horses, because so called human Beings have hurt and abused them so much, they shook their painful bodies all over. First, you must get only a top horse Vet with and X ray machine, and see what they find, and, then a very experienced and recommend ed Chiropractor to check the animals full body. When you have the results do everything these wonderful Horse Doctors etc, give the Horse or Pony full rest in a large airy stable, where it can watch what is going on, give it a horse ball ,hang it up just in case the horse wants to play with it, exercising many neck and back muscles, make sure you have a rigid routine, feeding, watering, mucking out, then sit down on the clean stable, Sing, talk to it, sometimes just be on your mobile, and only silent vibration, so, if it there is a call, just speak quietly. From then on be with your rescue one on one, do every normally, show it your grooming brushes, try and lift one leg at a time, and pick it hooves clean, always talking to it or singing etc. Once the animals stops shaking etc, start to massage it's body, especially the neck and back, giving it nice Horse treats, when it starts to relax. This is the start , but, if the horse tries to kick or bite, have somebody hold its feed bucket with some tasty food, taking it's attention off what you are doing. This little bit of help is for a more experienced person, who understands about being with a Horse in a Stable, but, with an hurting unknown horse, never be in the stable on your own with it. I wish people who are new to rescuing, horses, especially one in a Kill Pen, have very experienced Horse people with you. It could take 6 months, until your rescue horse begins to relax, so patience is vital . It is a wonderful feeling when you can at least see from a trembling very scared animal, head shy from being punched etc around it's head, to your pony or horse not flinching everytime you move your hands and arms. I wish all you animal rescuer's the Best of everything good for your Angels you have saved, to become one of your family.❤❤

"He loves me, and I love him." That says it all. I wish the internet could be filled with videos like yours. And I really wish that all living creatures could experience the kind of love and patience you've shown. ❤
Sometimes people don't know what 'love' is, because they've never or rarely been really loved.. it happens with mistreated children which consequently leads to them being aggressive because that's what they have been fed in their upbringing. It needs much patience and caution to restore faith into them in humanity and love.. and this woman did very well to let go of first riding/exploiting the horse, so she understood what needed to be, knowing what he went through. If only the judiciary systems try other approaches in dealing with whom we call 'criminals' knowing in what circumstances they have been brought up.. just judging is definitely not going to rid society of aggression.
