The part where you show the motor wires going through the side of the frame was very helpfull. The drawing aren't very clear on this. The motor mounts with the wires on the right side facing back and the wires fed through the hole in the frame. Then, ESC is is threaded inside the frame, out the same hole, hooked up to the motor, and then pulled back inside the frame.
Thanks for video. It had no issues with following this. I think the reason there hasn't been any video on the setup of the flybarless system in the included combo is due to how simple it was to set up. Set up the servo's with your TX/RX before installing them in your cyclic mounts. Follow HeliFreak's Finless Bob 450 Pro video if you have never done this before. Then follow the Align control unit instructions. The hardest part was connecting the battery while holding the control setup button
@carlocivicsi : Hi, measure the torque tube to find the centre then measure 50mm off centre, glue the bearing to the shaft, be careful not to glue the bearing together, just a little glue on the torque tube shaft. I find it best to have the bearing closer to the body end rather than the tail. Pop the rubber shroud on the bearing and lube it up to get it in the tube.
@carlocivicsi Hi, the tail should be 90 deg, it can be moved slightly to align it, the tail gears do make a little noise, check the tail boom is pushed fully into position and apply a little silicone grease to the gears.
@bladiebladiebleu Use the washers to remove any play in the shaft, they go below the collar, you should only use them if the shaft feels loose up and down.
@MicrowaveEngineer Cheers mate, I have found that Align manuals have left a bit to be desired in the past, but they seem to be getting better, have fun.
@jameshoffmandude The thread lock (blue) is a medium strength and is not too hard to undo the bolts etc. if red threadlock is used then you will need to apply a little heat to it to loosen it.
@bduijnen that was the first build, it flew fine but had a helicommand rigid rather than the 3G system. the washout arms looked more level than as in the manual, maybe the servos acting through HC rigid.
@Thumpstarog I found the measurements did not give a dead square set up so dropped the washout to suit, you could make the rods 3mm longer but I think a fixed point is better than weakening the rods.
@darkflamer Yup the grease is in the pack (c: with regards to the 3G system the manual is fairly clear and easy to follow, I did notice one mistake where it says elevator instead of aileron during set up but you should spot that.
@MAXWELLJUMP1 Hi thanks for the comments, I got it from heliguy, com £620 for the standard and £740 for the 3G flybarless version, very nice kit and a lot bigger than a 500 (c:
Great vid, very helpfull. When assembling the head I noticed you droped the washout base 3mm??? Why did you do this and should I ?because it's not mentioned if it is where. Please help thank you. My first big build!
@GaryGraham66 Quick question if you don't mind: I noticed that you set the length of the head-->swashplate linkage rod to about 50mm as opposed to 47mm as specified in the manual - and then added about 3mm between the head and the "lower arms assembly". I'm assuming you found the Align recommendation to be a bit off? Thanks in advance.
also one last thing that i wanted to ask because i dont know if it is normal or not. I finished assembling the torque tube and when i spin the main rotor with my finger to watch the tail spin , the gears make a strong noise. Is that normal i mean i took it out to make sure everything was ok and it was. does yours make that noise when you turn the main rotor?
Thanks so much for this. Great reference point for my 550 build. Includes information I could not find elsewhere. Cheers.

Nice one mate and i bet that will help load of people out ;-) thumbs up

@MrShyAlter Been a while since I built one but I remember the lower arms not being level with the manual setting and found the adjustment fine.
very nice thanks for your time.

@MrShyAlter no problem glad to help.
@juz70 a 600 may be better for a camera, depending on the weight. The 550 is a sweet heli with plenty of power.
Well done
Super Sache

nice. I am looking for a new camera ship...that might be it.

Nice. Looks like a good kit. Where did you purchase? Beat deal I've seen is grandrc so far.
@darkflamer Sorry mate the electronics video may be delayed indefinitely )c:

grasia . good
@carlocivicsi As soon as I can mate.
@n3iyr Glad it helped (c:
When r u going to do the video on the electronics??

can you explain to me where exactly does the torque tube bearing go. and witch end goes towards the tail the short end or the longer end. thanks
have u noticed that the tail is not mechanically 90 deg to the body of the heli? is that a big probrem?
Where should I put the two shim washers on the main shaft?
is thier a flybared version?
It's getting scary how many mistakes are in my manual with no corrections.
