I think you guys are overreacting. This isn’t supposed to be a luxury Swiss piece. It’s entry level and isn’t supposed to check all the boxes.
You get solid construction and build quality, an elegantly casual design, sapphire front and back and a basic automatic movement for $300.
    Y’all are acting like it’s a $3000.00 rip off.

Given: "Swatch claims that Sistem51 assembly is the first and only mechanical movement with a fully-automated watch manufacturing process" even $300 seems steep. This is a new ETA, I would prefer the eta 2892-A2. I wonder what the markup is on manufacture (before marketing and accounting entries of the Swatch group).

Everyone always look at the design flow of watch making. The solid purpose of the watch is to measure time as accurate as possible. You can manufacture the most beautiful watch and use the most precious materials, but if the caliber doesn’t deliver the best accuracy then the watch is useless, it just a fashion accessory. This watch delivers great accuracy for the price. I think that it was a good achievement using great technology. Less than -/+10 seconds a day is very impressive against Seiko 4R series for example. I read in a blog that (Europa Star managed-4 +2.5 seconds) crazy. One step further and you can get chronometer certified. And just for a few bucks.

for a casual collector on a budget this watch has my interest. I like the industrial styling that's not over the top with the elegant watch face, the auto is a nice touch and obviously one of the more accessible for Tissot. It sucks the finishing has less to be desired. I have a titanium gmt and it is quite comfortable, light, and easy on the skin aside from the slightly loose fit.

The movement is derived from the System51 robot-made movement in the Swatch Sistem51 watch. In addition to being machine-made, this movement is considered non-serviceable aka disposable. That means, it’s likely that Tissot (Swatch Group) is going to install an entirely new movement for each service instance, rather than replace necessary parts and oil, etc

Tissot V8 Swissmatic (Yes, made in Switzerland.): Solid everyday watch for this Chef! Respectable maker. New for USD$263 on Amazon, 7/2022. (Tip: Also buy a watch band sizing kit for $12.) Great value-priced entry into Swiss mechanical/automatics (i.e., not quartz, no battery inside, no manual crown winding option; powered by body movements that rotate an internal, weighted device => Swissmatic). Six beats per second, 19-jewel movement. Clean 1960's retro/sport appearance. (VERY subtle [to no] automotive visual queues.) Easy to read dial. Very nice 'matte' texture to dial face. Simple date. Sapphire flat windows front/back. Solid, brushed SS case with crown guards. Hefty, polished crown. Solid, brushed SS bracelet. Good overall weight (you know it's there). Butterfly clasp with exterior etched branding (center). Cons: Biggest-> Indexing is NOT perfect! Second hand difficult to stop when setting. Not rated for scuba diving. Bezel is fixed. No small or micro adjustments on bracelet. No illumination (lum) anywhere on dial. Sub-par quality lum on hands. Push-in crown (not screw-in). Not many mechanics to see through rear window. //Conclusion - I definitely enjoy this Swissmatic without much worry. Good purchase! Feels special to wear (especially given it's a Swiss-made, name-brand mechanical at this price). Final Thought: Consider buying used in excellent condition from a reputable seller for ttl. USD$100 - $150 (?).

Joseph Coates if one has sentimental value to it like I have with my dad's Seiko one would like to get it repaired
Never the less base Seiko 5 is close to 50-60$

I agree with the sentimental part of it and that Seiko have better quality, its just when it comes to inexpensive mechanical watches, there is a oint in which they are disposable. I have a Seiko 5 I wore my entire time in the military, it sits in a box now because it isn't worth servicing.

This movement is an insult to the watches’ world!!!!! Produced with shitty components and it cannot be repaired!!!!! The watch is nice but the mechanism is rubbish. In this range of price it’s better to get a Seiko 5, an economic series from Seiko but their movements are very well made.
